The theory of slice hyperholomorphic functions, introduced in recent years, has important applications in operator theory. The quaternionic version of this function theory and its Cauchy formula yield to a definition of the quaternionic version of the Riesz–Dunford functional calculus which is based on the notion of S-spectrum. This quaternionic functional calculus allows to define the quaternionic evolution operator which appears in the quaternionic version of quantum mechanics proposed by J. von Neumann and later developed by S. L. Adler. Generation results such as the Hille–Phillips–Yosida theorem have been recently proved. In this paper, we study the perturbation of the generator. The motivation of this study is that, as it happens in the classical case of closed complex linear operators, to verify the generation conditions of the Hille–Phillips–Yosida theorem, in the concrete cases, is often difficult. Thus in this paper we study the generation problem from the perturbation point of view. Precisely, given a quaternionic closed operator T that generates the evolution operator [Formula: see text] we study under which condition a closed operator P is such that T + P generates the evolution operator [Formula: see text]. This paper is addressed to people working in different research areas such as hypercomplex analysis and operator theory.

AbstractFor a connected open subset Ω of the plane and n a positive integer, let be the space introduced by Cowen and Douglas in their paper, “Complex geometry and operator theory”. Our main concern is the case n = 1, in which case we show the existence of a functional calculus for von Neumann operators in for which a spectral mapping theorem holds. In particular we prove that if the spectrum of , is a spectral set for T, and if , then σ(f(T)) = f(Ω)- for every bounded analytic function f on the interior of L, where L is compact, σ(T) ⊂ L, the interior of L is simply connected and L is minimal with respect to these properties. This functional calculus turns out to be nice in the sense that the general study of von Neumann operators in is reduced to the special situation where Ω is an open connected subset of the unit disc with .

It is well known that for an associative ring R, if ab has g-Drazin inverse then ba has g-Drazin inverse. In this case, (ba)d = b((ab)d)2a. This formula is so-called Cline?s formula for g-Drazin inverse, which plays an elementary role in matrix and operator theory. In this paper, we generalize Cline?s formula to the wider case. In particular, as applications, we obtain new common spectral properties of bounded linear operators.

This chapter is concerned with closable and closed operators in Hilbert spaces, especially with the special classes of symmetric, J-symmetric, accretive and sectorial operators. The Stone–von Neumann theory of extensions of symmetric operators is treated as a special case of results for compatible adjoint pairs of closed operators. Also discussed in detail is the stability of closedness and self-adjointness under perturbations. The abstract results are applied to operators defined by second-order differential expressions, and Sims’ generalization of the Weyl limit-point, limit-circle characterization for symmetric expressions to J-symmetric expressions is proved.

The bio-informed concept, which means “designing by learning from nature’s best ideas” as an approach, method, tool, discipline or strategy, is one of the most important research areas of today. It does not only shape designs, but also is based on collaborative/interactive/creative methods in education and can be integrated with contemporary educational approaches. This paper questions how to translate the bio-knowledge, which can be an effective and useful method for developing designers’ skills such as system-thinking, innovative thinking and problem-based learning, to design education in an easy and understandable way. In this context, the method of determining and applying biological phenomena/systems into architectural design process through the “natural language approach” is investigated. With this research, it is aimed to open the way to reach more innovative and sustainable solutions by establishing a bridge between architectural and biological terminology while creating architectural structures. It has been shown how to increase the biodiversity utilized for bio-informed solutions in the architectural field by proposing a systematic approach to search for biological systems. From this point of view, this study emphasizes the importance of promoting the bio-informed design approach, increasing interdisciplinary relationships and orienting individuals to nature for creativity and sustainability.

Using formally intuitionistic logic coupled with infinitary logic and the completeness theorem for coherent logic, we establish the validity, in Grothendieck toposes, of a number of well-known, classically valid theorems about fields and ordered fields. Classically, these theorems have proofs by contradiction and most involve higher order notions. Here, the theorems are each given a first-order formulation, and this form of the theorem is then deduced using coherent or formally intuitionistic logic. This immediately implies their validity in arbitrary Grothendieck toposes. The main idea throughout is to use coherent theories and, whenever possible, find coherent formulations of formulas which then allow us to call upon the completeness theorem of coherent logic. In one place, the positive model-completeness of the relevant theory is used to find the necessary coherent formulas. The theorems here deal with polynomials or rational functions (in s indeterminates) over fields. A polynomial over a field can, of course, be represented by a finite string of field elements, and a rational function can be represented by a pair of strings of field elements. We chose the approach whereby results on polynomial rings are reduced to results about the base field, because the theory of polynomial rings in s indeterminates over fields, although coherent, is less desirable from a model-theoretic point of view. Ultimately we are interested in the models. This research was originally motivated by the works of Saracino and Weispfenning [SW], van den Dries [Dr], and Bunge [Bu], each of whom generalized some theorems from algebraic geometry or ordered fields to (commutative, von Neumann) regular rings (with unity).

Special operator-ideal approximation properties (APs) of Banach spaces are employed to solve the problem of whether the distance functions S ↦ dist(S*, I(F*, E*)) and S ↦ dist(S, I*(E, F)) are uniformly comparable in each space L(E, F) of bounded linear operators. Here, I*(E, F) = {S ∈ L(E, F) : S* ∈ I(F*, E*)} stands for the adjoint ideal of the closed operator ideal I for Banach spaces E and F. Counterexamples are obtained for many classical surjective or injective Banach operator ideals I by solving two resulting ‘asymmetry’ problems for these operator-ideal APs.

Let [Formula: see text] be a ring. Motivated by a generalization of a well-known minus partial order to Rickart rings, we introduce a new relation on the power set [Formula: see text] of [Formula: see text] and show that this relation, which we call “the minus order on [Formula: see text]”, is a partial order when [Formula: see text] is a Baer ring. We similarly introduce and study properties of the star, the left-star, and the right-star partial orders on the power sets of Baer ∗-rings. We show that some ideals generated by projections of a von Neumann regular and Baer ∗-ring [Formula: see text] form a lattice with respect to the star partial order on [Formula: see text]. As a particular case, we present characterizations of these orders on the power set of [Formula: see text], the algebra of all bounded linear operators on a Hilbert space [Formula: see text].

Introduction. The paper examines organizational communication capacities that are studies as a signifi cant component of organization strategic potential. The purpose of the paper is to define the structure and content of organizational communication capacities and identify methods for assessing them. The author combines three research areas: assessment and analysis of organization communication capacities, organization communication strategy development, and organization willingness to change. Results. Two groups of organization communication capacities are revealed, that represent different approaches to strategic development of organization communication capacities. The fi rst group relies on the long-term planning of using external resources, the second promotes changes in the organization. The author presents criteria for assessing organization communication capacities skills that ensure fl ow of resources to the organization. Using the modern concept of information transparency the author highlights universal (common to different legal and business entities and partners) communications that shape business image of a transparent enterprise. Basic and additional components of the customer-oriented communication impact are studied, organization communication capacities that promote organizational change are described. Conclusion. Organizational capabilities are the actual article of research both from the point view of dynamics scientific publications and from the point of view the confession of importance of this aspect of strategic management.

AbstractLetB(H) be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on a complex Hilbert spaceHand 𝓐 ⊆B(H) be a von Neumann algebra with no central summands of typeI1. ForA,B∈ 𝓐, define byA∙B=AB+BA∗a new product ofAandB. In this article, it is proved that a map Φ: 𝓐 →B(H) satisfies Φ(A∙B∙C) = Φ(A) ∙B∙C+A∙ Φ(B) ∙C+A∙B∙Φ(C) for allA,B,C∈ 𝓐 if and only if Φ is an additive *-derivation.
