Groundwater vulnerability to pollution refers to the ease with which pollutants reach groundwater, in other words indicating the level of ease of an area to experience pollution. At present, the theme is one of the themes that attracts many researchers because pollution is more frequent in an area. The purpose of this study is to assess groundwater vulnerability in the study area for pollution using the GOD method and conduct a study of 3 groundwater vulnerability assessments, to determine the most appropriate assessment to be applied in the study area. The method used to determine groundwater vulnerability to pollution is GOD, which uses three parameters to assess the vulnerability of groundwater, namely aquifer type, rock type above aquifer and groundwater level. Furthermore, the results of the vulnerability assessment using the GOD method are compared with the vulnerability assessment according to the SINTACS and DRASTIC methods that have been carried out before in this area. The results showed that the variation of groundwater vulnerability index values in the study area according to the GOD method was from 0.35 to 0.63. Locations that are classified as medium vulnerability are generally located in the limestone Sentolo Formation, while locations that are classified as high vulnerability class are located in the volcanic rock of Yogyakarta Formation. Noting the results of determining groundwater vulnerability from the three methods, it can be said that the three methods are suitable for assessing groundwater vulnerability in the study area. However, looking at the distribution pattern of the level of pollution, the DRASTIC method can provide more detailed results related to the level of vulnerability.

The present study highlights the importance of geological, hydrogeological, and hydrogeochemical characterization of a karst aquifer in building a conceptual model of the system. The karst system of Krania–Elassona in central Greece was chosen for this application. Hydrogeological research included geological mapping and hydrogeological analysis. Additionally, hydrochemical analysis of water samples was performed in boreholes, rivers, and the system’s main spring. The Krania–Elassona aquifer consists of three horizons of marbles and is characterized by mature karstification. The karst aquifer is characterized by allogenic recharge mainly from the River Deskatis that accounts for up to 92% of the total flow. Groundwater and spring water are generally characterized as good quality and are suitable for irrigation and domestic use. The water type of the spring water is classified as Mg-HCO3. The application of a SARIMA (Seasonal Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average Model) model verified the conceptual model and successfully simulated spring discharge for a two-year period. The results of this study highlight the importance of basic hydrogeological research and the initial conceptualization of karst systems in reliably assessing groundwater vulnerability and modeling.

Kata Kunci: Karst, Sungai Alogenik, Kawasan Karst Gunung Sewu, Uji Perunutan, Mataair BetonAn understanding of the hydrogeological system and catchment area of spring is very important. This is to help manage that maintains its sustainability. Beton Resurgence is one of the springs that have a very important role in the Ponjong area, Gunungkidul Regency. Water supply from the spring is used to supply clean water, irrigated rice fields, and fisheries. This study aims to determine the connectivity and characterization of Passage in the Beton hydrogeological system. The method used is a tracer test using fluorescent dyes. The results of the analysis of breaktrough curve indicate that Seropan Sinking Stream has connectivity with Beton resurgence, and has passage characteristics in the form of a single conduit. The further development of the passage shows that the hydrogeological system is strongly influenced by groundwater recharge originating from an allogenic system that originates in non-karst areas and has a high groundwater vulnerability to pollution. Keywords: Karst, Allogenic River, Gunungsewu Karst Area, Tracer Test, Beton Resurgence

This work involves a geomorphological characterization of the topographic chart 23 III D, produced by IGAC, in which were developed thematic mappings and other cartographic products where the relief, both, in its morphology and its morphometric and spatial characteristics were the central theme. From the geomorphological point of view, the area in question is located on the Sinú Belt and the unconsolidated Quaternary sediments. Sinú Belt, which oldest geological formation is dated as Oligocene-Miocene, presents the highest altitudes in the mapped area reaching 146 meters in the Cerro La Popa. The lower levels of the relief in the area are the unconsolidated Quaternary deposits, which altitudes do not go over 20 meters. From mapping surveys, interpretation of orbital images, field observations and the integration of the interpretation obtained, it can be concluded that the Cenozoic tectonics is the most important setting factor in the morphological shape of the area.
