The combined effect of a transverse magnetic field and radiative heat transfer on unsteady flow of a conducting optically thin viscoelastic fluid through a channel filled with saturated porous medium and nonuniform walls temperature has been discussed. It is assumed that the fluid has small electrical conductivity and the electromagnetic force produced is very small. Closed-form analytical solutions are constructed for the problem. The effects of the radiation and the magnetic field parameters on velocity profile and shear stress for different values of the viscoelastic parameter with the combination of the other flow parameters are illustrated graphically, and physical aspects of the problem are discussed.

The results of an experimental study of the salt melt downflow in a uniformly heated pipe under the influence of a strong transverse magnetic field are presented. The changes of heat transfer coefficients and statistical characteristics of temperature fluctuations under the influence of the magnetic field are investigated. The peculiarities of the transition of the viscous-gravitational flow in the viscous-inertial-gravitational flow at Reynolds numbers (Re=3000-5000) under the influence of the magnetic field (Ha=17) were studied.

The effect of an oscillatory motion of a viscoelastic fluid over an infinite stretching sheet through porous media in the presence of magnetic field with applied suction has been studied. The surface absorbs the fluid in a porous medium in the presence of magnetic field and the velocity oscillates depending on the stretching rate(b). Analytical expressions for the velocity and the coefficient of skin friction have been studied, first by the perturbation method and then by power series method. The effect of viscoelastic parameterk1, porous parameterk2, magnetic parameter Mn, and the vertical distancexin the presence of suction/blowing on the velocity and the flow characteristics are discussed. The velocity of the viscoelastic fluid is found to decrease in the presence of magnetic field and porous media, as compared to the study of viscous fluid. It is also found that the effect of unsteadiness in the wall velocity and skin friction are found to be appreciable in the presence of suction/blowing parameter.

In this paper we study the effect of Mass and Heat transfer under the existence of transverse magnetic field for an oscillating two dimensional Micro-polar fluid flow through a moving infinite permeable plate in a porous medium. Investigate the Solutions for angular momentum, governing momentum, energy and concentration equations. Study the effect of chemical reaction, permeability parameters, velocity profiles, micro rotation profiles, wall stress coefficient and skin friction coefficient by using graph.

In this paper, we study the interaction of peristalsis with heat transfer for the flow of a viscous fluid through a porous medium in uniform and nonuniform channels. The flow is subjected to constant transverse magnetic field. Long wavelength approximation (that is, the wavelength of the peristaltic wave is large compared with the radius of the channel) is used to solve the governing system. Closed form expressions are derived for the pressure–flow relationship, temperature, and heat transfer coefficient. The effects of various physical parameters are discussed through graphs.

This paper proposes the exact solution for unsteady flow of a viscous incompressible electrically conducting fluid past a impulsively started infinite horizontal surface which is rotating with an angular velocity embedded in a saturated porous medium under the influence of strong magnetic field with hall effect. Our study focuses on the change of direction of the external magnetic field on the flow system which leads to change in the flow behavior and skin frictional forces at the boundary. Systems of flow equations are solved using Laplace transform technique. The impacts of control parameters Hartman number, rotation of the system, hall effect, inclination of the magnetic field, and Darcy number on primary and secondary velocities are shown graphically, skin friction at horizontal boundary in tabular form. For validating our results, in the absence of permeability of the porous medium and inclination of the magnetic field the results are in good agreement with the published results.

The present paper, part 2, consists of an experimental investigation of the influence of a transverse magnetic field on the heat transfer of a conducting fluid (mercury) flowing in an electrically insulated pipe subjected to a uniform heat flux at the wall. Mean temperature profiles and heat transfer data are presented which demonstrate that the magnetic field inhibits the convective mechanism of heat transfer through its damping of the turbulent velocity fluctuations.
