Nanofluid slip flow and heat transfer over the microchannel with asymmetric wall heat fluxes are investigated theoretically. The local thermal nonequilibrium model in which there is a difference between the solid temperature and nanofluid temperature is modified by considering the nonlinear velocity slip and temperature jump. Exact analytical solutions and homotopy series solutions for both velocity and temperature of nanofluid and solid are first obtained. Two groups of solutions agree well with existing references and residual errors are plotted. In addition, the effects of the physical factors on the heat transfer are graphically discussed. The results show that the first velocity slip enhances Nusselt numbers while the second slip coefficient has a reverse effect on them. As expected, the nanoparticle concentration enhances heat transfer on bottom wall.

The velocity and thermal slip impacts on the magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) nanofluid flow and heat transfer through a stretched thin sheet are discussed in the paper. The no slip condition is substituted for a new slip condition consisting of higher-order slip and constitutive equation. Similarity transformation and Lie point symmetry are adopted to convert the derived governed equations to ordinary differential equations. An approximate analytical solution is gained through the homotopy analysis method. The impacts of velocity slip, temperature jump, and other physical parameters on flow and heat transfer are illustrated. Results indicate that the first-order slip and nonlinear slip parameters reduce the velocity boundary layer thickness and Nusselt number, whereas the effect on shear stress is converse. The temperature jump parameter causes a rise in the temperature, but a decline in the Nusselt number. With the increase of the order, we can get that the error reaches 10 − 6 from residual error curve. In addition, the velocity contours and the change of skin friction coefficient are computed through Ansys Fluent.

This paper investigates the boundary layer analysis for magnetohydrodynamic partial slip flow and heat transfer of nanofluids through porous media over a stretching sheet with convective boundary condition. Four types of nanoparticles, namely copper, alumina, copper oxide and titanium oxide in the ethylene glycol (50%, i.e., Pr = 29.86) and water (i.e., Pr = 6.58) based fluids are studied. The governing highly nonlinear and coupled partial differential equations are solved numerically using fourth order Runge-Kutta method with shooting techniques. The velocity and temperature profiles are obtained and utilized to compute the skin friction coefficient and local Nusselt number for different values of the governing parameters viz. nanoparticle volume fraction parameter, magnetic field parameter, porosity parameter, velocity slip parameter and convective parameter. It is found that the velocity distribution of the nanofluids is a decreasing function of the magnetic parameter, porosity parameter, and velocity slip parameter. However, temperature of the nanofluids is an increasing function of magnetic field parameter, nanoparticle volume fraction parameter, porosity parameter, velocity slip parameter and convective parameter. The flow and heat transfer characteristics of the four nanofluids are compared. Moreover, comparison of the numerical results is made with previously published works for special cases and an excellent agreement is found.  Keywords: Magnetohydrodynamics, Partial Slip, Porous medium, Convective boundary, Nanofluid.

Nanofluid slip flow with distinct solid particles past a wedge with convective surface and high order slip is discussed in this paper. The wedge model is modified by considering the effects of Brownian motion and thermophphoresis together with the high order velocity slip and temperature jump. In this study, the governing fundamental equations are first transformed into third-order ordinary differential equations and solved by using the homotopy analysis method (HAM). Through error analysis and comparison with previous research, the effectiveness of HAM is ascertained, and the crucial influence of nanoparticles and high-order slip on the fluid skin-friction coefficient and heat transfer coefficient is analyed. Thermophphoresis parameter and suction/injection parameter are found to cause an increase in velocity and temperature. The rate of heat transfer in the Cu–water nanofluid is found to be higher than the others.

The mathematical modeling of dusty Cu-Al2O3/water nanofluid flow driven by a permeable deformable sheet was explored numerically. Rather than no–slip conditions at the boundary, velocity slip and thermal slip were considered. To achieve the system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODEs), we employed some appropriate transformations and solved them numerically using MATLAB software (built–in solver called bvp4c). The influences of relevant parameters on fluid flow and heat transfer characteristics are discussed and presented in graphs. The findings showed that double solutions appeared in the case of stretching and shrinking sheets which contributed to the analysis of stability. The stability analysis, therefore, confirmed that merely the first solution was a stable solution. The addition of nanometer-sized particles (Cu) was found to significantly strengthen the heat transfer rate of the dusty nanofluid. Meanwhile, an upsurge in the velocity and thermal slip was shown to decrease the local Nusselt number. The result also revealed that an increment of fluid particle interaction decreased the boundary layer thickness.

The boundary layer flow and heat transfer of a nanofluid over a stretching sheet are numerically studied. Velocity slip is considered instead of no-slip condition at the boundary as is usually appears in the literature. The governing partial differential equations are transformed into ordinary ones using a similarity transformation, before being solved numerically. Numerical solutions of these equations are obtained using finite element method (FEM). The variations of velocity and temperature inside the boundary layer as well as the skin friction coefficient and the heat transfer rate at the surface for some values of the governing parameters, namely, the nanoparticle volume fraction and the slip parameter are presented graphically and discussed. Comparison with published results for the regular fluid is presented and it is found to be in excellent agreement.

In this paper, a lattice Boltzmann (LB) model is established to simulate the gaseous fluid flow and heat transfer in the slip regime under the curved boundary condition. A novel curved boundary treatment is proposed for the LB modeling, which is a combination of the nonequilibrium extrapolation scheme for the curved boundary and the counter-extrapolation method for the macroscopic variables on the curved gas–solid interface. The established numerical model can accurately predict the velocity slip and temperature jump of the microscale gas flow on the curved surface, which agrees well with the analytical solution for the microcylindrical Couette flow and heat transfer. Then, the slip flow and the heat transfer over the single microcylinder are numerically studied in this work. It shows that the velocity slip and the temperature jump are obviously influenced by the Knudsen number and the Reynolds number, and the local Nusselt number depends on which gas rarefaction effect (velocity slip or temperature jump) is dominant. An increase in the Prandtl number leads to a decrease in the temperature jump, which enhances the heat transfer on the microcylinder surface. The numerical simulation of the flow and heat transfer over two microcylinders in tandem configuration are carried out to investigate the wake interference effect. The results show that the slip flow and heat transfer characteristics of the downstream microcylinder are influenced by the wake region behind the upstream cylinder as the spacing is small.
