In this paper, the top quark pair production events are analyzed as a source of neutral Higgs bosons of the two Higgs doublet model type I at LHC. The production mechanism is pp→H/A→tt¯ assuming a fully hadronic final state through t→Wb→jjb. In order to distinguish the signal from the main background which is the standard model tt¯, we benefit from the fact that the top quarks in signal events acquire large Lorentz boost due to the heavy neutral Higgs boson. This feature leads to three collinear jets (a fat jet) which is a discriminating tool for identification of the top quarks from the Higgs boson resonances. Events with two identified top jets are selected and the invariant mass of the top pair is calculated for both signal and background. It is shown that the low tan β region has still some parts which can be covered by this analysis and has not yet been excluded by flavor physics data.

The SM-like Higgs pair production is discussed in the framework of the general CP-violating two-Higgs-doublet model, where we find that the CP-violating mixing angles can be related to the Higgs self-couplings. Therefore, the future experimental searches for Higgs boson pairs can be constrained by the improved precision of the electric dipole moment measurements. Based on a series of constraints of the SM-like Higgs boson signal fits, the perturbative unitarity and stability bounds to the Higgs potential, and the most recent LHC searches for heavy Higgs bosons, we suggest a set of benchmark models for the future high-energy collider searches for Higgs pair production. The [Formula: see text] colliders operating at [Formula: see text] are capable of measuring the Higgs cubic self-couplings of the benchmark models directly. We also estimate the cross sections of the resonance contributions to the Higgs pair productions for the benchmark models at the future LHC and SppC/FCC-hh runs.

The CMS collaboration reported an intriguing [Formula: see text] (local) excess at 96 GeV in the light Higgs-boson search in the diphoton decay mode. This mass coincides with a [Formula: see text] (local) excess in the [Formula: see text] final state at LEP. We briefly review the proposed combined interpretations for the two excesses. In more detail, we review the interpretation of this possible signal as the lightest Higgs boson in the 2 Higgs Doublet Model with an additional real Higgs singlet (N2HDM). We show which channels have the best prospects for the discovery of additional Higgs bosons at the upcoming Run 3 of the LHC.

The D0 experiment has reported a direct search for a charged Higgs boson produced by [Formula: see text] annihilation and decaying to [Formula: see text] final state, in the 180≤MH+≤300 GeV mass range. The analysis has led to upper limits on the production cross-section in the framework of the two-Higgs doublet model types I, II and III. We compare the predictions of two different scenarios in the framework of the two-Higgs doublet type III to the cross-section limits reported by D0 collaboration, and we obtain constraints on the charged Higgs mass, for the case when the charged Higgs mass is bigger than the top quark mass. Also, searches for the charged Higgs boson with a mass smaller than top quark mass are considered, we discuss the possible limits on the charged Higgs boson mass obtained from measurements of the ratio [Formula: see text] within the two-Higgs doublet model type III.

We argue that the consistent implementation of the multiple point principle (MPP) in the general nonsupersymmetric two-Higgs doublet model (2HDM) can lead to a set of approximate global custodial symmetries that ensure CP conservation in the Higgs sector and the absence of flavor changing neutral currents (FCNC) in the considered model. In particular, the existence of a large set of degenerate vacua at some high energy scale Λ caused by the MPP can result in approximate U(1) and Z2 symmetries that suppress FCNC and CP-violating interactions in the 2HDM. We explore the renormalization group (RG) flow of the Yukawa and Higgs couplings within the MPP inspired 2HDM with approximate custodial symmetries and show that the solutions to the RG equations are focused near quasifixed points at low energies if the MPP scale Λ is relatively high. We study the Higgs spectrum and couplings near the quasifixed point at moderate values of tan β and compute a theoretical upper bound on the lightest Higgs boson mass. If Λ ≳ 1010 GeV the lightest CP-even Higgs boson is always lighter than 125 GeV. When the MPP scale is low, the mass of the lightest Higgs particle can reach 180–220 GeV while its coupling to the top quark can be significantly larger than in the SM, resulting in the enhanced production of Higgs bosons at the LHC. Other possible scenarios that appear as a result of the implementation of the MPP in the 2HDM are also discussed.

Abstract At the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), both the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations have been searching for light charged Higgs bosons via top (anti)quark production and decays channels, like pp → t$$ \overline{t} $$ t ¯ with one top (anti)quark decaying into a charged Higgs boson and a b (anti)quark, when the decay is kinematically open (i.e., when $$ {m}_{H^{\pm }} $$ m H ± ≲ mt). In this paper, we propose new searches at the LHC involving light charged Higgs bosons via their pair production channels like pp → H±h/A and pp → H+H− in the 2-Higgs Doublet Model (2HDM) Type-I and -X scenarios. By focusing on the case where the heavy H state plays the role of the Standard Model (SM)-like Higgs boson with a mass near 125 GeV, we study the aforementioned Higgs boson pair production channels and investigate their bosonic decays, such as H± → W±h and/or H± → W±A. We demonstrate that for a light charged Higgs boson state, with $$ {m}_{H^{\pm }} $$ m H ± ≲ mt, at the LHC, such di-Higgs production and decay channels can give rise to signatures with event rates much larger than those emerging from pp → t$$ \overline{t} $$ t ¯ → t$$ \overline{b} $$ b ¯ H− + c.c. We specifically study h/A → b$$ \overline{b} $$ b ¯ and τ+τ− decays. We, therefore, claim that the discussed combination of new production and decay modes can result in an alternative discovery channel for charged Higgs bosons lighter than the top (anti)quark at the LHC within the above two 2HDM Types. Finally, in order to motivate experimentalists in ATLAS and CMS to search for such signatures, we propose 16 Benchmark Points (BPs) which are compatible with both theoretical and experimental constraints.

The two-Higgs-doublet model contains extra Higgs bosons with mass ranges spanning from several hundred GeV to about 1 TeV. We study the possible experimental searches for the neutral Higgs bosons of [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] at the future high-luminosity LHC runs. Besides of the conventional search modes that are inspired by the supersymmetric models, we discuss two search modes which were not quite addressed previously. They are the decay modes of [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text]. Thanks to the technique of tagging boosted objects of SM-like Higgs bosons and top quarks, we show the improved mass reaches for heavy neutral Higgs bosons with masses up to [Formula: see text]. The modes proposed here are complementary to the conventional experimental searches motivated by the MSSM.
