A Tonido cloud server provides a private cloud storage solution and synchronizes customers and employees with the required cloud services over the enterprise. Generally, access to any cloud services by users is via the Internet connection, which can face some problems, and then users may encounter in accessing these services due to a weak Internet connection or heavy load sometimes especially with live video streaming applications overcloud. In this work, flexible and inexpensive proposed accessing methods are submitted and implemented concerning real-time applications that enable users to access cloud services locally and regionally. Practically, to simulate our network connection, we proposed to use the Raspberry-pi3 model B+ as a router wireless LAN (WLAN) that enables users to have the cloud services using different access approaches such as wireless and wireline connections. As a case study for a real-time application over the cloud server, it is suggested to do a live video streaming using an IP webcam and IVIDEON cloud where the streaming video can be accessed via the cloud server at any time with different users taking into account the proposed practical connections. Practical experiments showed and proved that accessing real-time applications of cloud services via wireline and wireless connections is improved by using Tonido cloud server's facilities.

The adoption of intelligent systems with Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) embedded in hardware for real-time applications currently faces a growing demand in fields such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and Machine to Machine (M2M). However, the application of ANNs in this type of system poses a significant challenge due to the high computational power required to process its basic operations. This paper aims to show an implementation strategy of a Multilayer Perceptron (MLP)-type neural network, in a microcontroller (a low-cost, low-power platform). A modular matrix-based MLP with the full classification process was implemented as was the backpropagation training in the microcontroller. The testing and validation were performed through Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) of the Mean Squared Error (MSE) of the training process, classification results, and the processing time of each implementation module. The results revealed a linear relationship between the values of the hyperparameters and the processing time required for classification, also the processing time concurs with the required time for many applications in the fields mentioned above. These findings show that this implementation strategy and this platform can be applied successfully in real-time applications that require the capabilities of ANNs.

Genetic algorithms are widely used in various mathematical and real world problems. They are approximate metaheuristic algorithms, commonly used for solving NP-hard problems in combinatorial optimisation. Industrial scheduling is one of the classical NP-hard problems. We analyze three classical industrial scheduling problems: job-shop, flow-shop and open-shop. Canonical genetic algorithm is applied for those problems varying its parameters. We analyze some aspects of parameters such as selecting optimal parameters of algorithm, influence on algorithm performance. Finally, three strategies of algorithm – combination of parameters and new conceptualmodel of genetic algorithm are proposed.

In this paper, an FPGA-based microwave oven controller design which can be implemented using Altera DE1 development board is presented. The motivation for this work is to explore FPGA for real time applications. First, a microwave oven controller design architecture that could fit into Altera DE1 board, utilizing on-board peripherals is developed. Then, using the proposed architecture, the design is implemented using Verilog HDL. The microwave oven functionalities are demonstrated using Altera DE1 development board by means of Quartus II 13.0 software. The testbenches are created and waveforms are generated using Modelsim 10.1d software. The simulation results for various cases have been presented and the results confirmed that all the basic functionalities of a practical microwave oven can be realized. The proposed FPGA based controller has a high potential for incorporation in microwave ovens.

Background: In recent years, the computational memory and energy conservation have become a major problem in cloud computing environment due to the increase in data size and computing resources. Since, most of the different cloud providers offer different cloud services and resources use limited number of user’s applications. Objective: The main objective of this work is to design and implement a cloud resource allocation and resources scheduling model in the cloud environment. Methods: In the proposed model, a novel cloud server to resource management technique is proposed on real-time cloud environment to minimize the cost and time. In this model different types of cloud resources and its services are scheduled using multi-level objective constraint programming. Proposed cloud server-based resource allocation model is based on optimization functions to minimize the resource allocation time and cost. Results: Experimental results proved that the proposed model has high computational resource allocation time and cost compared to the existing resource allocation models. Conclusion: This cloud service and resource optimization model is efficiently implemented and tested in real-time cloud instances with different types of services and resource sets.

Cloud services can compensate for the resource constraints of mobile devices. However, challenges of utilizing the cloud service by mobile users arise from inherent characteristics such as user mobility and device energy. In this paper, we propose a scheme to monitor the energy level and communication quality as a part of a mobile user context information, and develop a resource allocation and scheduling scheme to adapt to the context changes by exploiting the slack time. The objective is to reduce the execution cost of the jobs while meeting the jobs deadlines set by the users. We developed Simulated Annealing based resource allocation algorithm and Earliest Deadline First scheduling. Simulation of our scheme using CloudSim and synthetic workload based on Google Cluster Traces shows benefits in reducing execution cost and improving resource utilization.
