Pilomatricoma is a rare, benign skin tumour arising from the hair matrix. The usual locations are the head and neck. Localization in the lower limbs is exceptional. The diagnosis of certainty is histological. Treatment is complete surgical removal to avoid recurrence. We report in this article the case of a rare localization of a pilomatricoma on the right leg, in a 25-year-old patient operated with complete surgical removal. The postoperative course was simple and without recurrence after 2 months of follow-up.

Granular cell tumors are benign subcutaneous or submucosal lesions of neurogenic origin. In this case study one patient was diagnosed and treated successfully with complete surgical resection of a laryngeal granular cell tumor that was originated from the left arytenoid region that very rare location. There is no evidence of recurrence 2 years after surgery. Granular cell tumors should be considered in the differential diagnosis of laryngeal masses, particularly in the posterior glottis.

AbstractAim:Fungiform papillomas are benign mucosal neoplasms presenting as a unilateral exophytic mass involving the anterior portion of the nasal septum. In this study, we present an exceptional case of a bilateral fungiform papilloma with a synchronous verrucous carcinoma of the nasal septum.Material and methods:A case study with a review of the literature concerning malignant changes in fungiform papilloma. Results:The general consensus in most of the literature is that malignant change in fungiform papilloma is exceptional. Our patient is probably the third reported case of verrucous carcinoma of the nasal septum, and the first report of a bilateral fungiform papilloma with a synchronous verrucous carcinoma. The tumour was subjected to complete surgical removal in the first instance. There was no recurrence at follow up seven months after surgery. Conclusion:Although fungiform papillomas are generally not premalignant, occasional malignant transformation may occur. Thus, they must be managed with the utmost cautiousness.

Verrucous carcinoma (VC) is a rare, low-grade, and well-differentiated variant of squamous cell carcinoma. These tumors are slow-growing and exophytic and have a negligible incidence of metastasis. Treatment is complete surgical resection, ideally by Mohs micrographic surgery, to ensure adequate clear margins. Cutaneous VC predominantly occurs on the plantar surface of the foot and rarely occurs in multiple sites. This case study describes the fourth reported occurrence of bilateral VC of the feet in a woman with chronic diabetic foot ulcers. The case provides further support for persistent wounds contributing to the development of this lesion and describes their role in the characteristic delay in diagnosis of VC.

Cutaneous horn is a protuberance constituted by compact keratinous material, with a hard consistence similar to a horn, which occurs more frequently in photoexposed areas. The authors describe a case of cutaneous horn on the glans considered a rare location. Verrucous carcinoma was the histopathological diagnosis of the base of the horn and lichen sclerosis, the precursor lesion.

ntroduction Microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) is an antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis (AAV) that can affect any organ. Sometimes, untypical localization, together with an unusual clinical manifestation of tumour-resembling inflammatory changes, can cause a delay in diagnosis and proper treatment. Aim The aim of this study was to expose the case of very rare location of MPA manifestation. Case study In this paper, we present the case of inflammatory testicular tumour-like lesion that was a manifestation of MPA and mimicked testicular cancer. Results and discussion It is probably first desribed case of MPA mimicking testicular cancer. However, in the literature some others AAV manifestation in that location can be found. In these patients orchiectomy was recommended much more often than a testicular biopsy. Conclusions We conclude that in case of a patient with untypical features of a tumour, inflammatory processes, including vasculitis, should be taken into consideration in differential diagnosis.

AbstractVerrucous carcinoma is a slow growing, well demarcated, exophytic variant of squamosus cell carcinoma with a characteristic verrucous presentation. It is a rare tumour and in 75% of cases it is localised in the oral cavity, and sporadically within the tongue. HPV infection is identified in 40% of patients. Good prognosis is characteristic for this tumour, since the 5-year survival is 93%. The authors describe a case of verrucous carcinoma localised in the tongue of a 62-year old patient. The clinical course, diagnostics and proposed treatment was described and discussed with the existing literature data.

AbstractUsing interviews with former militants and previously unpublished documents, this article traces the genesis and internal dynamics of the Ejército Revolucionario del Pueblo (People's Revolutionary Army, ERP) in El Salvador during the early years of its existence (1970–6). This period was marked by the inability of the ERP to maintain internal coherence or any consensus on revolutionary strategy, which led to a series of splits and internal fights over control of the organisation. The evidence marshalled in this case study sheds new light on the origins of the armed Salvadorean Left and thus contributes to a wider understanding of the processes of formation and internal dynamics of armed left-wing groups that emerged from the 1960s onwards in Latin America.
