The superfamily Callianassoidea Dana, 1852 currently includes ten families (Sakai, 2011). However, recent examination of material from Tosa-Saga, Kochi Prefecture, Japan, presented the occurrence of a new species,Tosacallianassa hatasagaensisgen. et sp. nov. The deviant morphology of the new taxon shows elements of the families Anacalliacidae Manning & Felder, 1991, Callianassidae Dana, 1852, and Callianopsidae Manning & Felder, 1991 (cf. sensu nov. in Sakai, 2011). This necessitated the author to also establish a new family, Tosacallianassidae, based on the new genus. The new family is additionally included in the Callianassoidea Dana, 1852 as an eleventh member of that superfamily.

The infraorder Thalassinidea Latreille, 1831 [sensu stricto] includes three families: Thalassinidae Latreille, 1831; Upogebiidae Borradaile, 1903; and Laomediidae De Haan, 1849 (cf. Sakai & Sawada, 2006). However, recent examination of material from Kuwait in the Pershian Gulf, showed the occurence of a new species,Kuwaitupogebia nithyanandangen. et sp. nov., and this has made it possible to establish a new family, Kuwaitupogebiidae fam. nov., based on that new genus. The genusUpogebiaLeach, 1814 is known to include nine species from the Red Sea area, yet herein two new species,Upogebiaspongicolasp. nov. from the Reef at Hurghada, Red Sea, Egypt, andUpogebia jizanensissp. nov. from off Jizan, Saudi Arabia, Red Sea, can be added, based on material lodged in the collections of the museum in Frankfurt a. M.

Currently, the superfamily Axioidea Huxley, 1879 includes nine families (Sakai, 2011). However, recent examination of material from the Gulf of Nicoya, Costa Rica, Pacific side, presented the occurrence of a new species, Neoaxius nicoyaensis gen. et sp. nov. The deviant morphology of the genital organs of this new species can nowhere be observed in any of the known genera of the families included in the Axioidea. This necessitated the author to establish a new family, Neoaxiidae fam. nov., based on the new genus Neoaxius gen. nov. The new family is safely included in the Axioidea as a tenth member of that superfamily.

Abstract. A very distinctive new deep-photic coccolithophore is described from the NE Indian Ocean. The new species is trimorphic with: 200–300 body coccoliths bearing low spines attached by narrow stems to a basal narrow-rimmed placolith structure; up to 18 circum-flagellar coccoliths with tall sail-like spines; and up to 22 coccoliths with moderately elevated spines occurring both around the circum-flagellar coccoliths and antapically. These features make the coccolithophore unique and require placement in a new species and genus. The basal structure, however, shows similarities to a recently recognized group of narrow-rimmed placoliths. Hence, the new coccolithophore provides some support for this grouping as a significant addition to our understanding of coccolithophore biodiversity, and potentially an explanation for a set of anomalous molecular genetic results. In addition the new taxon provides further evidence that the deep-photic coccolithophore community is more diverse than has been assumed.

The Epicopeiidae is a small geometroid family distributed in the East Palaearctic and Oriental regions. It exhibits high morphological diversity in body size and wing shape, while their wing patterns involve in various complex mimicry rings. In the present study, we attempted to describe a new genus, and a new species from Vietnam, with comments on two assumed congeneric novel species from China and India. To address its phylogenetic affinity, we reconstructed the phylogeny of the family by using sequence data of COI, EF-1α, and 28S gene regions obtained from seven genera of Epicopeiidae with Pseudobiston pinratanai as the outgroup. We also compared the morphology of the new taxon to other epicopeiid genera to affirm its taxonomic status. The results suggest that the undescribed taxon deserve a new genus, namely Mimaporia gen. n. The species from Vietnam, Mimaporia hmong sp. n., is described as new to science. Under different tree building strategies, the new genus is the sister group of either Chatamla Moore, 1881 or Parabraxas Leech, 1897. The morphological evidence, which was not included in phylogenetic analyses, however, suggests its potential affinity with Burmeia Minet, 2003. This study also provides the first, although preliminary, molecular phylogeny of the family on which the revised systematics and interpretation of character evolution can be based.

Fourteen new species and six new genera of the molluscan class Monoplacophora are described from the Upper Cambrian Potosi and Eminence formations and the Lower Ordovician Gasconade Formation of the Ozark Uplift of Missouri and some new biostratigraphic horizons are introduced. A new superfamily, the Hypseloconellacea nom. trans. Knight, 1956, and a new family, the Shelbyoceridae, are named. The genus Proplina is represented by five new species: P. inflatus, P. suttoni from the Cambrian Potosi Formation, P. arcua from the Cambrian Eminence Formation and P. meramecensis and P. sibeliusi from the Lower Ordovician Gasconade Formation. A new genus and species in the subfamily Proplininae, Ozarkplina meramecensis, is described from the Upper Cambrian Eminence Formation. Four new monoplacophoran genera in the superfamily Hypseloconellacea and their species are described, including: Cambrioconus expansus, Orthoconus striatus, Cornuella parva from the Eminence Formation, and Gasconadeoconus ponderosa, G. waynesvillensis, G. expansus from the Gasconade Formation. A new genus in the new family Shelbyoceridae, Archeoconus missourensis, is described from the Eminence Formation and a new species of Shelbyoceras, S. bigpineyensis, is described from the Gasconade Formation.

The new genus Thaicypridopsis gen. nov. described here belongs to the tribe Zonocypridini Higuti & Martens, 2012 in the subfamily Cypridopsinae Kaufmann, 1900. It is the first record of the Recent representatives within this tribe in Southeast Asia and Oriental regions. Thaicypridopsis gen. nov. has a number of remarkable characters that distinguish it from other genera in the subfamily: a submarginal row of distinctive tubercles on the postero-ventral part of the right valve in the interior view, a strong serrated claw G2 on the second antenna with an apical concavity, large bristles with hirsute endings and spatula-shaped apexes on all three maxillular endites and a bifurcate tip on the terminal claw of the second thoracopod. One new species, Thaicypridopsis longispinosa sp. nov., is described under this new genus in the present contribution. Apart from the above diagnostic characters, the new species also has long spines on the valve surface as its outstanding feature. The new taxon is morphologically compared with other related species and genera within and outside the subfamily Cypridopsinae. In addition, due to the new genus belonging to a group of genera with the left valve overlapping the right valve in the subfamily, a key to the genera within this group is given.

On the Kugitangtau Ridge (western part of Pamiro-Alai mountain system) 16 specimens of a new species of molluscs referring to the nominative subfamily of the Bradybaenidae family have been found. The new taxon differs from all other species of this subfamily by total absence of all additional organs of female section of the reproductive tract (stylophore, additional sac, mucus glands, supraatrial bladder), bean-shaped short penis, and thick-walled penis sheath that attached at both proximal and distal ends. On the base of these characters the illustrated description of a new monotypic taxon Kugitangia hatagica Schileyko, Pazilov et Abdulazizova, gen. et sp. nov. is presented. Conchologically the new species does not differ reliably from Fruticicola fedtschenkoi and differs from Fruticicola perlucens mainly by the presence of fine granulation on the embryonic whorls.

This paper has been written in response to a request for determinations of certain parasites of wood-boring beetles in Queensland, Australia. The description of a new species of Monolexis entailed rather more research than was expected and has led to the expression of a few opinions of an exploratory nature on the status of the subfamily Hecabolinae. Altogether one new species in the Doryctinae and six (including one new genus) in the Hecabolinae are described.The types of all new species are in the British Museum.
