Lasianthus yalaensis Napiroon, Duangjai & Poopath is described and illustrated with notes on its conservation, and phylogenetic placement. The new species is morphologically similar to L. pilosus from which it differs in: its strigose branches (vs pilose), leaf blade 5–8 × 2–2.5 cm (vs 10–12.5 cm), 7–8 pairs of nerves (vs 9–15), stipules 5–7 mm long (vs <3 mm) and lanceolate (vs triangular-lanceolate), bracts 4–10 mm long (vs 4–5 mm) and covered with strigose hairs (vs pilose), flowers with cupular calyx (vs tubular), the lobes five and lanceolate (vs 5–7 and lanceolate-linear), corolla tube hirsute external surface (vs pilose) and glabrous internal surface (vs puberulous), drupes crowned by five calyx lobes (vs six), the lobes 1 mm long and strigose (vs 3 mm and pilose). Molecular analysis based on nuclear and plastid markers revealed that L. yalaensis is nested within the Asian clade and is closely related to L. pilosus.

A new species of Gesneriaceae, Primulina porphyrea, is described and illustrated from southern Hunan, China. The new species resembles P. polycephala and P. yangshuoensis in leaf blade shape and indumentum of the plants, but it can be easily distinguished by having long petiole and purple leaf abaxial surface, purple corolla lobes and yellow corolla tube with several reddish-purple stripes, dark yellow filaments, and 3 staminodes. It flowers from May to August.

Salvia luteistriata, a new species from northeastern Sichuan, China, is described and illustrated here. The new species morphologically resembles S. maximowicziana, but it can be easily distinguished from the latter by having bigger maroon corolla with showy creamy-yellow vertical stripes in the internal ventral surface of corolla tube. Other diagnostic characters between them include that the new species has bigger leaf blade, longer bract and pedicel, bigger oblong upper corolla lip, and bigger mericarp. An identification key for the species in Salvia ser. Maximowiczianae, including S. luteistriata, is provided.

We describe Lasianthus ranongensis Sinbumr. & Napiroon as a new species in the genus Lasianthus. The new taxon is intensively discussed through taxonomic affinities and information on its habitat, distribution and conservation status is provided. Moreover, line drawings and stereo microscope images of important fertile organs are demonstrated. The new species is morphologically similar to L. stipularis but differs in its having flattened branches (vs. terete), leaf blade elliptic-oblong shape of 15.0–20.0 × 4.0–6.0 cm (vs. oblanceolate-oblong 12.0–16.0 × 3.0–5.5 cm), 9–12 pairs of veins (vs. 9–10 pairs), stipule 5–7 mm long, half covering cymes (vs. 10–12.5 mm long, entirely covering cymes), four or five bracts narrowly lanceolate, 2.5–3.0 mm long (vs. bracts numerous, broadly triangular, 10–15 mm), flowers with cupular calyx (vs. with campanulate calyx), corolla villous on internal surface, and six or seven lobed (vs. pubescent on internal surface and four lobed) and drupes with five pyrenes (vs. with four pyrenes). It is also similar to L. pseudo-stipularis, but from which it is obviously distinguished by its stipule half covers cymes, secondary veins have 9–12 pairs of secondary veins, cupular calyx shape, six or seven lobed corolla, and drupe with five pyrenes, whereas L. pseudo-stipularis has stipule entirely covering cymes, 7–8 pairs of secondary veins, obconic calyx, four lobed corolla, and drupe with four pyrenes.

Zingiber natmataungense S.S.Zhou &amp; R.Li (Zingiberaceae), a new species from Natma Taung National Park, Chin State, Myanmar, is described and illustrated. The new species is morphologically similar to Z. yunnanense, but differs by: leaf blade abaxially light green, glabrous, ligule sparsely pubescent, ca. 2–3 mm, bracts glabrous; calyx white 20–21 × 3.2–3.5 mm, glabrous, apex obviously 3-toothed; corolla tube white, ca. 3.9–4.1 cm, labellum lateral lobes, ca. 1.5–1.7 × 0.6–0.7 cm; stamen with sparse pubescent, filament white, glabrous,1–2 mm; anther connective appendage yellowish proximally, purplish distally; ovary white, sparsely white pubescent, epigynous glands, ca. 6–7 mm long, tapered, apex whorled, yellow. This new species is also similar to Z. teres, but has a different flower colour.

Primulina lechangensis (Gesneriaceae), a new species from northern Guangdong province in southern China is described and illustrated. Its morphology suggests affinities to P. longicalyx, but can be distinguished from similar taxon by several distinct characters including: smaller leaf blade (2.0-3.5 × 1.0-1.2 cm), base cuneate-attenuate; smaller bracts (1.0-1.5 × c. 0.15 cm); shorter calyx lobes (0.8-0.9 cm long) tuberculate inside; smaller corolla tube (c. 2 cm long), inflated in the middle and contracted near the mouth; shorter glabrous filaments (0.3-0.4 cm long), inserted 1.3-1.5 cm from base of corolla; stamens and staminodes glabrous; pistil 1.4-1.5 cm long, and capsule c. 1.5 cm long. A new species of Maranta subg. Maranta, M. gigantea, is described and illustrated. This is known from the submontane Atlantic Forest in the states of Pernambuco and Alagoas (Brazil). Based on the zingiberoid growth form it is morphologically similar to M. anderssoniana and M. zingiberina, differing mainly in the shape of the leaf blade (lanceolate to oblong or ovate respectively vs. narrow-lanceolate) and number of calli in the callose staminode (one prominent callus vs. two prominent calli). It is further differentiated from M. anderssoniana by being larger plants (up to 1.8 m tall vs. up to 1.0 m tall), with a tomentose leaf sheath (vs. sericeous), larger corolla tube length (9−12 mm long vs. 5−6 mm long), asymmetrically elliptical corolla lobes (vs. asymmetrically oblong) and larger outer staminodes (minor 12−15 × 6.5−8 mm vs. 10−11 × 5.5−6 mm and major 13−16 × 8.5 × 10.5 mm vs. 10−12 × 8−9.2 mm). Due to its narrow distribution, it is classified as critically endangered.

A new species, Pseudodactylaria brevis, is described, illustrated and compared with other Pseudodactylaria and Dactylaria-like taxa. Evidence for the new species is provided by morphological comparison and sequence data analyses. Pseudodactylaria brevis can be distinguished from other Pseudodactylaria and Dactylaria-like species by its short hyaline conidiophores and fusiform, 1-septate hyaline conidia. Phylogenetic analysis of LSU and ITS sequence data was carried out to determine the phylogenetic placement of the species and confirm the taxonomic status of Pseudodactylariaceae.

A new species of Specklinia with a repent growth habit and minute purple flowers is described and illustrated. The new species is distinguished from Specklinia wrightii based on its morphological and molecular distinctness from that species. The phylogenetic placement of the new species is provided based on an nrITS tree. The species described here represents the first new orchid to be described from material originating from the Parc National Naturel Macaya in six years. New combinations are made in Acianthera for species of Kraenzlinella and Pleurothallis subgen. Antilla embedded within the genus. In particular Kraenzlinella rinkei is provided as a new synonym for Specklinia montezumae and Specklinia simpliciflora is transferred to Acianthera sect. Antilla based on morphology and geographic distribution.

Ceropegia jinshaensis D.T.Liu &amp; Z.K.Wu (Asclepiadoideae, Apocynaceae), a new species from northwestern Yunnan along the upper Yangtze river of China, is described and illustrated. This species is similar to C. meleagris H. Huber, C. dorjei C. E. C. Fischer and C. aridicola W. W. Smith, but can be distinguished easily by its leaf shape and floral features, especially the corolla shape and size, the interior of corolla tube and coronal characters.

A new Mexican species of Spigelia (Loganiaceae), distributed in the states of Guerrero and Michoacán, is here described. The new species can be distinguished from the similar-looking S. humboldtiana by its corolla with innerly purple lobes, inserted stamens above the proximal half of the corolla tube and exserted style. With this contribution, Mexico reaches a total of 20 species, of which 50% are endemic, highlighting this country as a center of diversity for this genus. A dichotomous key for the species recorded in the states of Guerrero and Michoacán is included.
