The genus Phaeorrhiza is reported as new for the Chinese lichen biota, including the two species, Phaeorrhiza nimbosa (Fr.) H. Mayrhofer & Poelt and P. sareptana var. sphaerocarpa. (Tr. Fr.) H. Mayrhofer & Poelt. The genus grows on soil in alpine meadows, morphologically characterized by a squamulose to subfoliose thallus, rhizohyphae, and Beltraminia-type ascospores. P. nimbosa has cryptolecanorine to eulecanorine apothecia, while P. sareptana var. sphaerocarpa has lecideine apothecia. Descriptions, a key and a phylogram of these species are provided.

Quinoa (<em>Chenopodium quinoa</em> Willd.) (Family: Amaranthaceae – APG classification) is an Andean grain recently introduced on the European market and cultivated in experimental fields. In one of these experimental fields, in San Giorgio Piacentino (Italy), a heavy bug infestation was observed. The species was identified as <em>Nysius</em> <em>cymoides</em> (Spinola) (Heteroptera Lygaeidae), a polyphagous species known as a pest of different crops. It occurs in the Mediterranean area from the sea level to the alpine meadows.

Abstract The aim of this paper is to present the diversity of the lichen species on fruit trees (Malus sp., Pyrus sp., Prunus sp. and Cerasus sp.) growing in orchards in selected villages and towns in the Podlaskie Voivodeship. Fifty-six species of lichens were found. These were dominated by common lichens found on the bark of trees growing in built-up areas with prevailing heliophilous and nitrophilous species of the genera Physcia and Phaeophyscia. A richer lichen biota is characteristic of apple trees (52 species) and pear trees (36). Lichens of the apple trees constitute 78% of the biota of this phorophyte growing in the fruit orchards in Poland. Of the recorded species, only two (Ramalina farinacea, Usnea hirta) are covered by partial protection in Poland.

In the context of the development of infrastructure in Siberian cities, the issues of the state of the areas with accumulated environmental damage is especially relevant. It is mentioned in the article that lichen indication is an efficient method of passive monitoring of environment for industrial pollutants caused by morphological changes occurring in sensitive objects. The results of the lichen floristic research of Leninsky district of Irkutsk are presented, a list of revealed lichens including 9 genera and 12 species is given, a taxonomic list of this area is discussed. Lichenological objects were mapped. Distribution of lichens in the area of research is investigated with regard to the presence of recreational and residential zones. The authors draw a conclusion about the presence of «lichens deserts» which are caused both by the absence of the respective substratum and high concentration of pollutants. High concentration of pollutants is caused by complex influence of different enterprises on the quality of air.

The paper lists 180 lichen taxa from Ivittuut area, South West Greenland. Nine lichen taxa are new to South West Greenland, viz. Aspicilia aquatica, A. berntii, Candelariella dispersa, Cephalophysis leucospila, Endocarpon pulvinatum, Ionaspis suaveolens, Lecanora atromarginata, Thelidium pyrenophorum and Vestergrenopsis elaeina.

An enumeration of 142 species of lichens belonging to 60 genera and 27 families from Dima Hasao district in North East region is provided. The present study supplemented 98 species new to the lichen biota of Assam. The study added one new record of basidiolichen [Multiclavula vernalis (Schw.) Petersen] to the lichen biota of India. The lichen genus Graphis with 21 species exhibit its dominance in the area followed by Pyrenula and Parmotrema with nine and eight species respectively. Among the different localities in the area Umrangso towards Khundog showed maximum diversity of lichens represented by 58 species followed by the locality in and around circuit house, represented by 42 species. The dominance of Graphidioid community in the area indicates an evergreen open canopy forest as well as the presence of smooth bark trees in the region.
