In the context of the development of infrastructure in Siberian cities, the issues of the state of the areas with accumulated environmental damage is especially relevant. It is mentioned in the article that lichen indication is an efficient method of passive monitoring of environment for industrial pollutants caused by morphological changes occurring in sensitive objects. The results of the lichen floristic research of Leninsky district of Irkutsk are presented, a list of revealed lichens including 9 genera and 12 species is given, a taxonomic list of this area is discussed. Lichenological objects were mapped. Distribution of lichens in the area of research is investigated with regard to the presence of recreational and residential zones. The authors draw a conclusion about the presence of «lichens deserts» which are caused both by the absence of the respective substratum and high concentration of pollutants. High concentration of pollutants is caused by complex influence of different enterprises on the quality of air.

Reducing the carbon footprint is currently one of the priorities for the world economy. To do this, it is necessary to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as well as to develop methods for monitoring greenhouse gases in the atmospheric air to ensure control over the effectiveness of decisions taken.Considering the complexity of the processes of dispersion of gases in the atmospheric air, neural network modeling methods have significant advantages in determining the concentrations of atmospheric impurities. This article presents a method for calculating the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmospheric air using a designed and trained cascade neural network model, which makes it possible to take into account the complex influence of meteorological factors and local dispersion conditions when calculating concentrations. The first level of the model is the calculation of the concentration of carbon monoxide according to the known parameters of the emission sources of this substance using the regulated method for calculating the dispersion of impurities in the atmosphere in the Unified program for calculating dispersion "Ecolog-City". The second level is a neural network, which corrects the concentration calculated at the first step according to the specified meteorological parameters to increase the modeling accuracy. The third level is a neural network that allows calculating the concentration of carbon dioxide based on the concentration of carbon monoxide obtained at the previous step, as well as the measured values of the coefficient of chemical transformation and concentration of atmospheric ozone. The resulting cascade model was tested on the territory of Nizhnekamsk. The achieved accuracy of calculating the concentration of carbon dioxide was more than 95%. Thus, the presented technology makes it possible to expand the capabilities of the local monitoring system in conditions of an insufficient number of measurements of carbon dioxide.

Elastic abrasive cutting is a new high-performance method to produce workpieces made of materials of different hardness, which ensures lower wear of cut-off wheels and higher quality machined surfaces. However, the literature referring to elastic abrasive cutting is scarce; additional studies are thus needed. This paper proposes a new approach for modelling and optimizing the elastic abrasive cutting process, reflecting the specifics of its particular implementation. A generalized utility function has been chosen as an optimization parameter. It appears as a complex indicator characterizing the response variables of the elastic abrasive cutting process. The proposed approach has been applied to determine the optimum conditions of elastic abrasive cutting of С45 and 42Cr4 steels. To solve the optimization problem, a model of the generalized utility function reflecting the complex influence of the elastic abrasive cutting conditions has been developed. It is based on the findings of the complex study and modelling of the response variables of the elastic abrasive cutting process (cut-off wheel wear, time per cut, cut piece temperature, cut off wheel temperature and workpiece temperature) depending on the conditions of its implementation (compression force F exerted by the cut-off wheel on the workpiece, workpiece rotational frequency nw, cut off wheel diameter ds). By applying a genetic algorithm, the optimal conditions of elastic abrasive cutting of С45 and 42Cr4 steels: ds = 120 mm; F = 1 daN; nw = 63.7 min–1 and nw = 49.9 min–1, respectively for С45 and 42Cr4 steels, have been determined. They provide the best match between the response variables of the elastic abrasive cutting process.

Exchange rate forecasting is a crucial but challenging task due to the uncertainty and fuzziness of the associated data caused by complex influence factors. However, most traditional forecasting methods ignore the ambiguity of the data itself. Thus, in this paper, a novel fuzzy time series forecasting system based on a combined fuzzification strategy and an advanced optimization algorithm was proposed for use in exchange rate forecasting, and was proven to have an excellent ability to deal with the uncertainties and ambiguities in data. Concretely, the data “decomposition and ensemble” strategy was applied to carry out the data preprocessing process. The combined fuzzification strategy was used in the fuzzification of the observed data, and the advanced optimization algorithm was developed to determine the optimal parameters in the models. The analysis of this experiment verified the effectiveness of the proposed forecasting system, which will benefit future research and decision-making related to investments.

The relevance of bacteria to subjective experiences or qualia is underappreciated. Here, I make four proposals. Firstly, living systems traverse sequences of active states that determine their behaviour; these states result from competitive coherence, which depends on connectivity-based competition between a Next process and a Now process, whereby elements in the active state at time n+1 are chosen between the elements in the active state at time n and those elements in the developing n+1 state. Secondly, bacteria should help us link the mental to the physical world given that bacteria were here first, are highly complex, influence animal behaviour and dominate the Earth. Thirdly, the operation of competitive coherence to generate active states in bacteria, brains and other living systems is inseparable from qualia. Fourthly, these qualia become particularly important to the generation of active states in the highest levels of living systems, namely, the ecosystem and planetary levels.

The Irish writer Oscar Wilde was extremely popular in Croatian culture in the first decades of the 20th century. Although Croatian writers of that time generally did not read the original works of British authors but rather their translations, Wilde’s popularity in Germany and Vienna sparked interest in his works among the Croatian readership and spectatorship. This paper explores the translation of Wilde’s Salomé from German by Julije Benešić and Nikola Andrić, and the complex influence that this translation had on Croatian literature of early modernism, relying primarily on the interpretation of the same motif in the texts of young Fran Galović and Miroslav Krleža. The paper argues that the influence of Wilde’s aestheticism is visible not only in the adoption of typical motifs, characters, or atmosphere but also in the autonomous and self-reflective language play in Krleža’s texts.

In the history of mankind, the use of canned vegetables has been a source of ensuring a diverse range of vegetables in winter and has led to the development of cropping systems with technological features specific to industrialization. The effects of blanching temperature on the texture and quality of cucumber fruits under the conditions of lactic fermentation have been important topics of study over time. In comparison, in this paper we studied the complex influence of fermentation time (25 days) and temperature level (22 °C) on qualitative aspects such as pH level, total acidity and salt concentration change. Two different temperatures were also used for blanching with the salt solutions, 96 °C and 67 °C. The results of this study show that iodized sea salt was useful for whole pickles because they showed a better taste and texture. Pickled cucumbers blanched at 96 °C showed a better texture and lower acidity than those at 67 °C.

The article is devoted to the problem of organizational and pedagogical conditions in the framework of trilingual education in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The authors consider the essence of the concepts of “conditions”, “pedagogical conditions”, “organizational and pedagogical conditions”, “structure of organizational and pedagogical conditions” in more detail. Psychologists consider the concept of “conditions” in the context of mental development through a set of internal and external causes that determine the overall psychological development of a person, accelerating and slowing it down, influencing the development process, its dynamics and final results. Pedagogical condition is a general scientific one, and its essence in the pedagogical aspect can be characterized in several provisions: 1. A condition is a set of causes, circumstances, any objects, etc. 2. The influence of conditions can accelerate and slow down the processes of development, education and training, as well as affect their dynamics and final results. 3. Caracterized complex influence on the developing, education and studying of a person. The organizational-pedagogical conditions and its’ structure were defined, from the perspective of language education, which is based on problem of investigation of the succession of the multiculturalism in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Vitamin D [1,25(OH)2D—calcitriol] is basically a steroid hormone with pleiotropic biologic effects, and its impact on the regulation of immune system may influence several clinical conditions. Calcidiol (25OHD), as precursor of calcitriol, derives, for the most part (80%), from cutaneous cholesterol (7-dehydrocholesterol) under the action of UV-B (sunlight). Consequently, serum concentrations fluctuate during the year following the circannual rhythm of sun exposition. We will update about the available evidence regarding the complex influence of seasonal vitamin D changes on two different chronic connective tissue diseases, namely rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and systemic sclerosis (SSc). Notably, RA is an emblematic model of autoimmune disease with prevalent joint inflammatory features, while SSc is mainly an autoimmune progressive pro-fibrotic disease. However, in both conditions, low serum concentrations of 25OHD are involved in the pathogenesis of the diseases, and emerging data report their impact on clinical manifestations.
