Osakatheta yasukoae Maruyama, Klimaszewski & Gusarov gen. et sp. nov. (Aleocharinae) is described based on specimens collected from the intertidal zones in Ôsaka-wan, Ôsaka-fu and Ise-wan, Mie-ken, Honshû, Japan. This is the first record of true intertidal species of Athetini from the West Pacific coast (East Palearctic). Osakatheta may be readily distinguished from other genera of Athetini by the long and erect setae covering its whole body.

The coccolithophorid Scyphosphaera apsteinii is here reported for the first time from waters off the west coast of the Baja California Peninsula. Scypho­sphaera apsteinii is the type species of the genus Scyphosphaera and had hitherto been recorded only in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans, the Gulf of Mexico, the Mediterranean, and the Caribbean Seas. Specimens were found in samples collected in nets off Isla de Guadalupe in January 2013. This recording thus extends the geographical distribution of S. apsteinii from the Central Pacific (Hawaii) to the Eastern Pacific (NW Mexico).

Three homolid crabs,Homolomannia sibogaeIhle, 1912,Latreillopsis bispinosaHenderson, 1888, andMoloha majora(Kubo, 1936) from around the Jeju Islands, southern Korean waters, are briefly described here. Although these species occur widely in the West Pacific or Indo-West Pacific, they all represent the first record of their species and genus in Korean waters. The family Homolidae currently comprises four species in Korea. Brief descriptions and illustrations of selected parts are provided in this article.
