Four new species with complex uterus of the genus Aporcelaimellus, collected mainly in natural areas in the IberianPeninsula, are identified and described here. Aporcelaimellus alpujarrensis sp. n. is characterized by having body1.72–1.91 mm long, lip region offset by constriction and 14–15μm broad, odontostyle 14–16μm long with apertureoccupying 67–70% its length, neck about 455μm long, pharyngeal expansion about 224μm long, uterus tripartite and145–206μm long, V = 53–55, tail convex conoid (27–34μm, c = 55–71, c’ = 0.9–1.1), spicules 56–60μm long, and 7–9irregularly spaced ventromedian supplements with hiatus. Aporcelaimellus castaneanus sp. n. is characterized by havingbody 2.18–2.83 mm long, lip region offset by constriction and 20–23μm broad, odontostyle 22–24μm long with apertureoccupying 62–67% its length, neck 581–662μm long, pharyngeal expansion 300–355μm long, uterus tripartite and164–348μm long, V = 52–58, tail conical with rounded terminus (44–52μm, c = 48–60, c’ = 0.8–1.1), spicules 94–103μm long, and 14–15 irregularly spaced ventromedian supplements which lack hiatus. Aporcelaimellus communis sp. n. ischaracterized by having body 2.56–4.22 mm long, lip region offset by constriction and 19–25μm broad, odontostyle19–26μm long with aperture occupying 64–74% its length, neck 595–750μm long, pharyngeal expansion 321–427μmlong, uterus bipartite and 190–450μm long, V = 51–60, tail short and convex conoid (29–50μm, c = 63–109, c’ = 0.5–1.0),spicules 89–118μm long, and 16–25 irregularly spaced ventromedian supplements with hiatus. Aporcelaimellus tenuis sp.n. is characterized by having body 1.89–2.70 mm long and comparatively slender (a = 35–49), lip region offset byconstriction and 15–18μm broad, odontostyle 15–21μm long with aperture occupying 60–70% of its length, neck488–645μm long, pharyngeal expansion 251–366μm long, uterus bipartite and 135–213μm long, V = 55–58, tail convexconoid with rounded terminus (25–40μm, c = 64–92, c’ = 0.8–1.1), spicules 52–66μm long, and 11–12 irregularly spaced SEM pictures, are given for the four species.ventromedian supplements with hiatus. Abstract—Two new diploid species, Aira minoricensis and Aira hercynica, are described and illustrated, along with chromosome counts, risk assessment, distribution and habitat, phenology, and comparisons with morphologically similar species. A comparative table and a key for the species of Aira for the Iberian Peninsula and the Balearic Islands are provided to assist in the identification of these overlooked species, and their relationships to other taxa are discussed.

SummarySix new species of Coffea are described as new to science: Coffea callmanderi, C. darainensis, C. kalobinonensis, C. microdubardii, C. pustulata and C. rupicola. All six species are endemic to northern Madagascar; four species are narrowly endemic to specific forest areas. Associated information, including distribution maps, conservation assessments, phenology and taxonomic notes are provided, and two species are illustrated with line drawings.

Metahadzia uncispina n. sp. is described, being the second species of the genus on the Iberian Peninsula. The new species, well characterized by the transformation of the apical spine on the endopodite of the male uropod 2, is undoubtedly closely related with M. tavaresi (Mateus & Mateus, 1972) from the south of Portugal. Comments are made about recent emendations of the original concept of the genus Metahadzia Stock, 1977.

AbstractA new lichen species, Waynea giraltiae van den Boom, is described from southern Portugal and Spain. It is characterized by a very fine tomentum on the squamulose thallus, fusiform, 3-septate ascospores, and strongly curved filiform conidia. It is the first species of the genus containing argopsin. The new species is compared with related Waynea species. Waynea cretica is recorded as new to the Iberian Peninsula.

The genus Paraboea Ridl. (Gesneriaceae) is revised. It is found in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma, Cambodia, southern China, India (Assam), Indonesia (Sumatra, Java, Borneo, Sulawesi), Laos, Malaysia (Peninsular and Borneo), Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, mostly from limestone habitats. Eighty-nine species and five varieties are recognised. Four new species and one new variety are described: Paraboea apiensis Z.R.Xu, Paraboea argentea Z.R.Xu, Paraboea graniticola Z.R.Xu, Paraboea paraprimuloides Z.R.Xu and Paraboea harroviana var. ovata Z.R.Xu. In addition two taxa are highlighted as possible new species but are not described here due to insufficient material. The treatment includes one new combination for a species, Paraboea harroviana (Craib) Z.R.Xu, one new combination for a variety, Paraboea schefferi var. ambigua (C.B.Clarke) Z.R.Xu, one new status for a variety, Paraboea rufescens var. tomentosa (Barnett) Z.R.Xu, and one new name, Paraboea primuloides Z.R.Xu. Fifty-one line drawings are included. A key is presented and all taxa are described. Preliminary conservation assessments are given.

AbstractAhnea keejeongi Park and Carlton (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Pselaphinae), a new genus and new species of New Zealand endemic beetle belonging to the supertribe Faronitae is described. Six previously described species are included to this genus and four species are synonymised as follow: Sagola dissonans Broun, 1921 and S. planicula Broun, 1921 under Ahnea ventralis (Broun, 1912); S. carinata Broun, 1912 and S. lineiceps Broun, 1921 under Ahnea lineata (Broun, 1893). A key to species, habitus photographs, line drawings of diagnostic characters, and distribution maps are provided.

Three new species of the genus Sectonema collected from natural habitats in Vietnam are studied, described and illustrated, including line drawings, LM and/or SEM pictures. Sectonema birrucephalum sp. n. is characterised by its 2.73-4.35 mm long body, lip region 18-20 μm broad and offset by deep constriction, odontostyle 10.0-11.5 μm long on its ventral side, 659-989 μm long neck, pharyngeal expansion occupying 63-68% of total neck length, uterus a simple tube, 221-277 μm long, pars refringens vaginae present, V = 54-56, tail short (31-43 μm, c = 85-111, c′ = 0.6-0.8) and rounded, spicules 72-75 μm long, and four or five irregularly spaced ventromedian supplements beyond the range of the spicules. Sectonema buccociliatum sp. n. is distinguished by its 2.00-2.46 mm long body, lip region offset by constriction, 19-20 μm broad and bearing perioral cilia-like structures, odontostyle 13-14 μm long at its ventral side, 530-625 μm long neck, pharyngeal expansion occupying 62-69% of total neck length, uterus a simple tube, 116-152 μm long, pars refringens vaginae present, V = 56-62, tail short (23-31 μm, c = 72-104, c′ = 0.6-0.8) and rounded, spicules 56-68 μm long, and 3-5 spaced and weakly developed ventromedian supplements beyond the range of the spicules. Sectonema ciliatum sp. n. is characterised by its 2.79-3.13 mm long body, lip region offset by constriction, 21-22 μm broad and bearing perioral cilia-like structures, odontostyle 14-15 μm long at its ventral side, 699-722 μm long neck, pharyngeal expansion occupying 60% of total neck length, uterus a simple tube, 201-244 μm long, pars refringens vaginae present, V = 52-53, tail short (33-35 μm, c = 82-92, c′ = 0.6-0.7) and rounded, spicules 70-72 μm long, and three or four spaced and weakly developed ventromedian supplements beyond the range of the spicules. Molecular data obtained for S. ciliatum sp. n. and the derived evolutionary tree show a close phylogenetic relationship with other species of the genus.

Reknowned for its high biodiversity and endemism, over one third of the Bornean species of Phyllagathis were discovered in Sarawak over the past two years. In this study, we report an addition of a new species of Phyllagathis, namely P. stellata from southwestern Sarawak. In addition to the taxonomic account, color plates, line drawings, a distribution map, and comparisons with morphologically similar species are provided to aid in identification.

AbstractAndre, H.M. & Ducarme, X.: Rediscovery of the genus Pseudotydeus (Acari: Tydeoidea), with description of the adult using digital imaging. Insect Syst. Evol. 34: 373-380. Copenhagen, December 2003. ISSN 1399-560X. This paper describes the adult female of the genus Pseudotydeus Baker & Delfinado 1974 and confirms that the genus belongs to the Ereynetidae. The description is based on a new species collected from a Belgian cave ("Nou-Maulin", Rochefort). For the first time, a mite is described with microscope photographs instead of traditional line drawings. The two methods are compared. A new typology is proposed for sensilli clusters and a key to the genera of the Ereynetinae is provided.
