The bark louse genus Symbiopsocus includes 23 species, all of which known from East Asia. Here we report the first record of Symbiopsocus from Vietnam, with description of Symbiopsocus vietnamicus sp. nov. A revised key to the species of Symbiopsocus is provided.

A new species of the genus Pareumenes de Saussure, 1855, from the Philippine Islands (Mindanao and Samar), P. impunctatus sp. nov., is described. This is the first record of the genus from the Philippines. A key to the species of the genus occurring in insular South-East Asia is provided.

Abstract A nearly complete dentary with preserved i2, p3 and m1 of a relatively large soricomorph from the Dota locality, Kani Basin, Early Miocene (ca. 18.5 Ma), Nakamura Formation of the Mizunami Group in central Japan, is described as a new species of Plesiosorex. It represents the first record of the genus in East Asia. Plesiosorex fejfari sp. nov. has a slender dentary, posteriorly elongated angular and condyloid processes, p3 with two roots, and m1 without hypoconulid or cingulid. Cladistic analysis of Butselia gracilis and seven species of Plesiosorex shows that Butselia is basally positioned with respect to Plesiosorex, and it seems likely that Plesiosorex originated in Europe at the beginning of the Miocene and expanded its distribution to East Asia and North America during the Early Miocene. Two Middle Miocene North American species are more closely related to each other than to European species of the same age.

Teredus Dejean is a genus of the poorly known family Teredidae, which, historically, includes only two species, restricted to Europe and North Africa. Teredus chinensis sp. nov. is here described, representing the first member of Teredidae found in China, which significantly extends the distribution of Teredus to East Asia. The diagnostic characters and information about the wood boring beetles associated with the new species are provided.

A new species, Emerita taiwanensis sp. nov., is described from Taiwan and represents the first record of the genus from East Asia. The species differs from its congeners by having (1) a long and sharply triangular median frontal lobe, which is approximately equal in length to the lateral lobes, (2) the highest ratio of the maximum length of the merus of the 3rd maxilliped to that same segment’s maximum width, (3) a narrow and elongate P1 dactylus, combined with a ratio of the P1 dactylus length to its maximum width of approx. 2.78, (4) 1-3 spines present on the inner margin of the P1 dactylus, and (5) a peculiar colour pattern on the dorsum of the carapace. A comparison of the morphological characters of the present species with those of its congeners with a similar, elongate P1 dactylus is presented in the form of a table.

The genus Rapisma McLachlan, 1866 (montane lacewings) is a rare and little known group of the family Ithonidae (Insecta: Neuroptera). There have been 21 described species of Rapisma, and all of them are distributed from East Asia, South Asia and Southeast Asia. Here I report a new species of Rapisma from northwestern Yunnan, China, namely Rapisma weixiense sp. nov. The new species belongs to a group of Rapisma species with very short antennae.

AbstractThe order Intejocerida is an enigmatic, short-lived cephalopod taxon known previously only from Early–Middle Ordovician beds of Siberia and the United States. Here we report a new genus, Cabaneroceras, and a new species, C. aznari, from Middle Ordovician strata of central Spain. This finding widens the paleogeographic range of the order toward high-paleolatitudinal areas of peri-Gondwana.
