The lice of the Oxylipeurus-complex parasitising the turkey, Meleagris gallopavo, belong to a previously undescribed genus. In this paper, we describe this genus as Valimia new genus, redescribe two of its species: Lipeurus polytrapezius Burmeister, 1838 and Oxylipeurus corpulentus Clay, 1938, and describe the new species Valimia necopinata, discovered during our examination of samples of the two known species. This occurrence represents the first record of three congeneric species of chewing lice parasitising the same host individual.

AbstractThe order Intejocerida is an enigmatic, short-lived cephalopod taxon known previously only from Early–Middle Ordovician beds of Siberia and the United States. Here we report a new genus, Cabaneroceras, and a new species, C. aznari, from Middle Ordovician strata of central Spain. This finding widens the paleogeographic range of the order toward high-paleolatitudinal areas of peri-Gondwana. Abstract Lopesia davillae, a new species of gall midge associated with the reproductive structures of Davilla rugosa (Dilleniaceae), is described and illustrated (larva, pupa, male, female, and damage) based on material collected in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This new species is compared with its congeneric species. This is the first record of Lopesia on Dilleniaceae.

The Australian planthopper genus Monomalpha Emeljanov, 2000 is reviewed. Males of M. gratiosa Emeljanov, 2000, a species originally described from a single female specimen, are presented for the first time. A new species, M. stenocara from Queensland is described. Together with the type species M. gratiosa, recorded from Queensland and mainland NSW, and M. fletcheri Emeljanov, 2000, a species endemic to Lord Howe Island (New South Wales) there are now three species recognised in the genus Monomalpha. A new endemic genus, Latissima gen. nov., is created within Cixiini to accommodate a new species from Queensland, Latissima isleyensis sp. nov. Identification keys to the genera of Australian Cixiini and to the species of Monomalpha are presented and host plant relationships discussed, including the first record of an Australian cixiid from the tree fern family Cyatheaceae.

The new species Dicranocentrus paramoense, D. bidentatus, Heteromurus (Heteromurtrella) echinatus and H. (H.) pruinosus are described from specimens collected in the State of Mérida, Venezuela. A new species of each genus comes from a cloud forest near the city of Mérida and a new species of each taxon was collected in paramos northeast of Mérida. Congeneric species are phyletically very near and their closest relatives live in Central America and the West Indies. Dicranocentrus bidentatus is the sole species of its genus with only two teeth (the basal pair) along the inner margin of the unguis. Heteromurus (Heteromurtrella) echinatus is unique among members of its subgenus in possessing dental spines, although some individuals lack these structures. This is the first record of such intraspecific variation. Four tables detail variations of a number of characters and 41 figures complement the text.

A new genus and species of Philopotamidae (Philopotaminae),Aymaradellaboliviana, is described from the Bolivian Andes of South America. The new genus differs from other Philopotaminae by the loss of 2A vein in the hind wing and, in the male genitalia, the synscleritous tergum and sternum of segment VIII, and the elongate sclerotized dorsal processes of segment VIII. The first record ofHydrobiosella(Philopotaminae) in the New World is also provided with a new species from the Andes of Ecuador,Hydrobiosellaandina. In addition, a new species of the Neotropical genusChimarrhodella(Chimarrinae),Chimarrhodellachoco, is described from the Choco-Andean region of Ecuador, andChimarrhodellaperuviana(Ross) is recorded from Ecuador for the first time. Lastly,Wormaldiaimbrialis(Philopotaminae), new species, is described, also from the Ecuadorian Choco.

A new genus and a new species, Haplodendron buzwilsoni, from the southeastern Australian mid bathyal are described. This is the first record of the family in the Southern Hemisphere IndoPacific. Diagnostic characters of the new genus are compared with those of other genera in the family. The possible significance of the joint possession, between the new genus and Dendrotion (Dendrotiidae), of a stalk carrying the antennulae and antennae is discussed. New observations on male reproductive structures are made.

Physospermopsis siamensis Esser & M.F.Watson is described as a new species from material collected in northern Thailand. This is the first record of Physospermopsis (Umbelliferae, Apiaceae) from Thailand, and represents a significant southern extension of the geographic range of this largely Sino-Himalayan genus. Comparison is provided with P. shaniana, its closest morphological ally, and the key to genera given in the Flora of Thailand account for Umbelliferae is revised.

A new genus, Solomonocartus Legalov, gen. nov., with a new species Solomonocartus bukejsi Legalov, sp. nov. belongs to the tribe Rhinocartini from Guadalcanal Island (Solomon Islands) is described and illustrated. This new genus differs from the genus Rhinocartus Voss, 1922 from Western Africa in the long antennae inserted in the basal third of the rostrum and almost reaching the middle of the elytra, almost straight sides of the pronotum, long ventrite 2, and larger body sizes. It is the first record of the tribe Rhinocartini from the South Pacific and the second find of Rhynchitidae from the Solomon Islands.

A new species of Polycoelia, P. kurariirapa, is described from the Three Kings Islands/Manawatāwhi, representing the first record of the genus in New Zealand. Polycoelia includes two species from Australia, P. laciniata (generitype) and P. fastigiata, and one from South Africa, P. harveyana. Polycoelia kurariirapa shares with the two Australian species the characteristic vegetative anatomy of the genus consisting of a single layer of medullary cells surrounded by a cortex of small-celled, anticlinal filaments, and branched thalli. The rbcL phylogenetic analysis confirmed the close, and sister, relationship of P. kurariirapa with the Australian taxa, while they were only weakly grouped with P. harveyana. This new genus adds to the unique seaweed flora of these islands in northern New Zealand and indicates that this area may harbour even more hidden diversity.

A new species and a new genus of Rhachiberothidae, Rhachiella malawica gen. nov., spec. nov., are described from Malawi. The new species is characterized by a flat vertex, a long penisfilum in the male, and by a bifurcate pseudohypocauda in the female. This combination of characters requires the description of a new genus, which is the sister taxon of Mucroberotha Tjeder, 1959. This is the first record of Rhachiberothidae in Malawi. The distributions of all 14 species of Rhachiberothidae so far known are shown in three maps.
