Special Features of Florida's Mobility Management Process

The purpose of the Florida Mobility Management Process (MMP) is to improve the mobility of residents and tourists. Although all states must develop congestion management systems (CMS), special features of the Florida CMS, which others may wish to consider, are presented. Florida's special MMP features include: development framework, applicability of MMP and CMS to all urbanized areas, MMP and CMS relationship with the transportation planning process, multimodal alternatives analyses of major investments, institutional arrangements, implementation techniques, performance measures, and MPO prototypes.

Background:A clinical data management system is a software supporting the data management process in clinical trials. In this system, the effective support of clinical data management dimensions leads to the increased accuracy of results and prevention of diversion in clinical trials. The aim of this review article was to investigate the dimensions of data management in clinical data management systems.Methods:This study was conducted in 2017. The used databases included Web of Science, Scopus, Science Direct, ProQuest, Ovid Medline and PubMed. The search was conducted over a period of 10 years from 2007 to 2017. The initial number of studies was 101 reaching 19 in the final stage. The final studies were described and compared in terms of the year, country and dimensions of the clinical data management process in clinical trials.Results:The research findings indicated that none of the systems completely supported the data management dimensions in clinical trials. Although these systems were developed for supporting the clinical data management process, they were similar to electronic data capture systems in many cases. The most significant dimensions of data management in such systems were data collection or entry, report, validation, and security maintenance.Conclusion:Seemingly, not sufficient attention has been paid to automate all dimensions of the clinical data management process in clinical trials. However, these systems could take positive steps towards changing the manual processes of clinical data management to electronic processes.

This paper aims to open up a discussion about relations between former Yugoslavia's socialism and planning practice resulting from self-managing system established in early 1950s. Although this system was applied through a top-down approach, it implied, at least allegedly, coordination, integration and democratic harmonisation of particular interests with common and general ones on local level. The paper will briefly review the history and concept of socialist ideology and consider the impact that it had on institutional arrangements evolution and planning practice in Serbia. It will then touch on the role of ideology for urban planning process at the local level, understanding self-managing planning principles, their benefits, role and significance in planning practice.

Paper investigates peculiarities of management of public investment projects subject to State Investment Program (SIP) in Lithuania. Using comparative analysis for compatibility of European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) and SIP management systems as well as utilizing multi criteria analysis (MCA) techniques with attention to the Euclidean distance author reveals challenges of rationality of evaluating, selecting and implementing public investment projects according to the requirements of inclusive growth applicable to the country under ESIF management system. In this regard, there is as well noticed that current regulations for pubic investments under SIP in the country inevitably requires significant improvement in order to ensure the rational use of the state budget funds and comply with the requirements for inclusive growth as set under ESIF management system. Subsequently possible solutions proposed focusing on improving specific tasks of the management process of evaluating, selecting, implementing public investment projects.

In theory, shifts in institutional arrangements result in new public policies. This articles focuses on Curitiba, Brazil, an international flagship city of urban planning recognized for its technocratic government. The 2012 municipal elections and the 2013 nationwide political upheaval led to a change in the city's institutional arrangement. As a consequence, the 2014 Master Plan was conceived with the tagline of more public participation. This paper analyzes whether the changes in institutional arrangements influenced the city's planning process and the Master Plan.

Customers expect a high standard and fast service from enterprises. In addition, competition among enterprises necessitates that enterprises renew themselves, meet customer expectations at maximum level, and raise the standard of products and services. Traditional restaurant management is inadequate to provide all this. This situation led to search, and restaurant management systems (RMS) have been developed. RMS, which emerged in the 1970s, are now much more developed, facilitating both the operation and management process and offering a professional management opportunity. RMS has made it possible for the restaurants to institutionalize and establish chain enterprises. Moreover, income and expense control can be made more effective via RMS. This chapter explains RMS and the operation of RMS via a sample program.

The current European policy roadmap aims at forcing the TSOs to coordinate remedial actions used for relieving the congestions in the synchronous power system. In this paper, an optimization problem for coordinated congestion management is described and its results obtained for a real European use cases created in the H2020 EU-SysFlex project are presented. First of all, these results prove the feasibility of a central optimization problem for the coordination of the cross-border congestion management process. Next, the formulated optimization problem is used to tackle the issue of planning the investments in phase-shifting transformers (PSTs), for the purpose of increasing the efficiency/decreasing the cost of congestion management. Finally, this paper introduces two optimization-based indicators for pre-selecting the investment sites, which may be used to support the decision makers aiming at decreasing the costs of coordinated congestion management.

The Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 (ISTEA) requires states in conjunction with metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) to develop, establish, and implement several systems to better manage and improve the efficiency of transportation infrastructure. Among other things, the National Highway System Designation Act of 1995 allows states not to implement one or more of the ISTEA management systems. Although the management systems are now optional, FHWA and FTA continue to believe that the management and monitoring of the performance and condition of the multimodal transportation system should remain an important element of statewide and metropolitan planning. How FTA's National Transit Data Base (NTD) can provide an important source of information as agencies develop the ISTEA management systems or similar mechanisms for managing and monitoring transit facilities and equipment is analyzed. NTD, which contains information on the financial and nonfinancial operations, system performance, and equipment of national public transit systems, is used primarily by transit operators and others in the transit industry. How NTD can contribute to development and operations of the Public Transportation Management System as well as the Congestion and other management systems is discussed. Development of applications for ISTEA management systems, or for similar planning tools, broadens applications of NTD beyond its transit customer base to aid states and MPOs. By contributing comprehensive transit data to systems for managing and monitoring condition and performance of multimodal transportation, NTD can improve representation of transit needs and performance in the ISTEA planning process.
