The reporting and investigation of sexual assault within prison is complex. Although prevalence data are available, there is little known about the processes and case attrition within prison that mirror the attrition in the community between reporting, investigation, and outcomes. This critical case study uses secondary data from a class action litigation on behalf of incarcerated women who experienced staff sexual misconduct in one state system. Multiple sources of data are used quantitatively and qualitatively to examine prison processes. Prison Rape Elimination Act Standards are used as a framework to interpret the analysis and illustrate potential barriers for the successful implementation through case narratives. Although secondary data analyses have limitations, these data would be difficult to obtain under other circumstances and includes perspectives of the affected women and key institutional actors. The goal of this study is to inform and improve the prison-based processes in service of reducing and/or preventing victimization.

Partisanship structures mass politics by shaping the votes, policy views, and political perceptions of ordinary people. Even so, substantial shifts in partisanship can occur when elites signal clear differences on a political issue and attentive citizens update their views of party reputations. Mismatched partisans who strongly care about the issue respond by changing parties in a process of “issue evolution” when writ large. Others simply update their views to match their party in a “conflict extension” process. We build on these models by integrating the largely separate research strands of party issue ownership. Using sexual misconduct as a critical case study, we argue that partisan change can occur rapidly when party elites move strategically to take ownership of an issue, thereby clarifying differences between the parties. Using a quasi-experiment, a survey experiment, and data from dozens of national surveys, we find recent, rapid shifts in party reputations on #MeToo, views of the issue, party votes, and broader party support.

This study investigates the concept of Collaborative Business Intelligence in general and specifically in three Dubai governmental entities, which are a part of Dubai Open Data Committee: namely Smart Dubai, Dubai Municipality and RTA, in an attempt to improve collaborative Business Intelligence between the three entities thorough a Smart City Project. A qualitative approach was used to collect data. Secondary data derived from academic articles, scholarly literature formulate the literature review and understand the concepts of business intelligence, collaborative business intelligence in general and how such business intelligence works at the three entities in specific. In addition, primary data was derived from interviews conducted with three senior employees from the top management of Smart Dubai, Dubai Municipality and RTA to help further gain in-depth understanding on how the three entities are collaborating with one another in Smart City Project. The results of the study have revealed that all three entities; Smart Dubai – Dubai Data Establishment, Dubai Municipality, and RTA are adopting business intelligence and collaborative BI. In addition, it is evident that the three entities are sharing data through Dubai Pulse for Smart City Projects. As well, the most used systems and software for analyzing and sharing data among all government entities to support decision-making process. The massive volume of data collected from different source required a huge investment in technology, process and people. In addition, because smart city project is still a new project under implementation and reconstruction, the project has reported few challenges with the implementation of BI, collaboration, and integration within the Municipality, RTA, and Smart Dubai, the key challenge is problem is with raising awareness among personnel and individuals working within in these three entities areas to embrace smart services, typical of collaborative business intelligence. As well as privacy and data security in which Dubai Data Establishment has adopted many strategies and policies to improve. Moreover, Limited research on best practice of BI and collaborative BI in UAE based organizations make it difficult to confirm if the organizations achieve the successful implementation of the collaborative BI and that make this assumption an area for further study.

The purpose of this chapter is to enhance our understanding of how web-based applications and complementary resources can work together to create competitive advantages in supply chains. This chapter is organized as follows. First, this chapter introduces the theoretical background of complementary resources. Then, it moves on to report a preliminary result of secondary data analysis that explores the role of complementary resources to the development of web-enabled supply chains. Lastly, this chapter reports a case study that focuses on identifying: 1) the complementary resources that influence the successful implementation of web-based applications for supply chain management, and 2) the degree to which certain types of complementary resources function to support the successful implementation of web-based applications.

Behaviors that challenge (BC) are common in dementia and can have a significant impact on the wellbeing of the person with dementia, their family and staff in care homes. The Newcastle model is a biopsychosocial, person-centerd, approach that aims to support care staff and family members in order to manage BC within care homes by identifying and fulfilling unmet needs of the person with dementia. After outlining its theoretical basis and practical utility, we describe a case study where the Newcastle model has been implemented to manage sexualised behaviors and verbal aggression. The patient described is a lady with dementia residing in a care home where the staff felt unable to manage increasing incidence of these BC. Information from multiple sources was collated to conceptualise the behaviors and understand them in terms of unmet needs, which was followed by a process to develop corresponding practical strategies together with care staff and family. Following successful implementation of the Newcastle model, the care staff reported a reduction in BC on standardised instruments (Cohen-Mansfield Agitation Inventory, and the Neuropsychiatric Inventory). The staff group also described increasing confidence in managing sexualised vocalisations as they had a better understanding with regards to premorbid history and personality, and an increased awareness of the impact of dementia on behavior. Complicating factors relating to staff stress and physical health conditions in older adults are discussed, and adaptations to the model are suggested in order to maintain treatment gains in the long-term.

While the Prison Rape Elimination Act focuses on sexual victimization in correctional settings, staff-perpetrated sexual misconduct against women under community-based correctional supervision has received little attention. This study explored women’s experiences of sexual victimization by correctional staff while on parole and used a case study approach to examine sexual victimization incidents experienced by ten women. Women described how staff’s misuse of power permeated the abuse tactics. Officers used their status to gain access to women, applied individualized tactics with promises and threats, and controlled when the abuse ended. Practices and policies are needed to build safety for women under community-based correctional supervision.

The technological revolution 4.0 brings great opportunities, but also cybercrimes to economic sectors, especially to banks. Using secondary data and survey results of 305 bank clients, the main findings of this paper are: (i) there are several types of cybercrimes in the banking sector; (ii) Vietnam is one of the top countries worldwide having hackers and being attacked by hackers, especially the banking sector. Three most common attacks are skimming, hacking and phishing. Number of cybercrime attacks in Vietnam are increasing rapidly over years; (iii) Vietnamese customers are very vulnerable to cybercrime in banking, as more than 58% seem to hear about cybercrimes, and how banks provide services to let them know about their transactions. However, more than 50% do not have any deep knowledge or any measures for preventing cybercrime; (iii) Customers believe in banks, but do not think that banks can deal with cybercrime issues well. They still feel traditional transactions are more secure than e-transactions; (iv) the reasons for high cybercrimes come from commercial banks (low management and human capacity), supporting environment (inadequate), legal framework (not yet strong and strict enough on cybercrimes), and clients (low level of financial literacy). Therefore, several solutions should be carried out, from all stakeholders, for improving the cybersecurity in Vietnamese banks.

The purpose of this study was to decide the elements of performance at PT. General Takaful Insurance, to find out how to measure performance using the scorecard approach that is by measuring process performance and results performance, and interpreting in the form of conclusions. In this study, researchers tested apply maslahah at PT. General Takaful Insurance with a case study design. This research is a type of quantitative and qualitative research because it uses measurement data through formulas and if interpretative qualitative, and the data used are primary and secondary data. Data collection methods used are observation, interviews and documentation. The results showed that PT. General Takaful Insurance received a value of the performance benefit process of 0.7 which indicates that the company simply applied benefits in terms of process performance. And behave the benefit of PT. General Takaful Insurance got a value of 0.89 which shows that the company is quite good in providing benefits to stakeholders and shareholders. Background: The theoretical background of this article is on the model developed of knowledge transfer between universities and the industry in order to access the best practices and adapt to the study case in question regarding the model of promoting and manage innovation within the universities that best contribute with solution and projects to the business field. Objective: The development of a knowledge transfer model is the main goal of this article, supported in the best practices known and, also, to reflect in the main measurement definitions to evaluate the High Education Institution performance in this area. Methods: The method for this article development is the case study method because it allows the fully understanding of the dynamics present within a single setting, and the subject examined to comprehend what is being done and what the dynamics mean. The case study does not have a data collection method, as it is a research that may rely on multiple sources of evidence and data which should be converged. Results: Since it’s a case study this article present a fully description of the model proposed and implemented for the knowledge transfer process of the institution. Conclusion: Still in a discussion phase, this article presents as conclusions some questions and difficulties that could be pointed out, as well as some good perspectives of performed activity developed.
