This study examines two female principals in upper secondary schools and the development of their professional identities, focusing on schools in Sweden and Texas, USA. The study is part of a larger international research project with global conversations about what successful leadership means, and asks: in what ways do female secondary school principals’ professional identities inform equity issues in leadership with implications for recruitment, hiring, and evaluation practices? Using a feminist post-structural discourse analysis, the findings revealed that even when successful, female leaders in upper secondary schools can be evaluated negatively. These considerations relate to the way in which female principals are recruited, hired, and weighed when appraised, where their contributions may not be fully incorporated to establish equitable processes and procedures to sustain their success in educational leadership.

The aim of study to revel the Effectiveness of The Educational Leadership Program in Developing Professional and Leadership Competencies of Secondary School Principals in Wadi Al-Seer District, Jordan. The study based on the description approach which based on the descriptive method researcher used a questionnaire which consist of (51) items to analyze and process data divided into four areas. The total degree of Education Leadership Program of areas directorate principals was high. study population was composed of all principals (68) which account for all the principals of secondary schools of The In Wadi Al-Seer District study sample consist of(20) male principals and(40) female principals .This sample was chosen randomly. The result showed that the level of Effectiveness was high and The finding also showed there are no statistically significant differences between the level of principals sex (male and female) in addition there were statistically significant differences between principals of (less than 5 years) of experience and these with (10 and more) years of experience in favor of the second group and statistically significant differences between teachers of (10+) years of experience and these with (10 and more) years of experience in favor of the second group. In light of these findings the researcher suggested a set of recommendations including the necessity of considerate the years of experience of principals during evaluation and take advantage of the educational leadership program to select principals to the scale of educational leadership effectiveness.

This paper discusses the duties and responsibilities of secondary school principals and teachers.  The paper adopts the template of Gulick and Urwick (1937) on the functions of the chief executive of an establishment/institution to highlight the duties and responsibilities of secondary school principals and teachers.  The acronym of the template is POSDCORB which means: Planning, Organising, Staffing, Directing, Coordinating, Reporting and Budgeting.  Principals are the chief executives of secondary schools while the teachers are potential administrators of secondary schools as well hence the application of the template to both of them and more even at their present state/level the template is very relevant to them.  If the principals and teachers understand very well their duties and responsibilities as presented in this paper and do them accordingly, there will be peaceful, harmonious relationship and coexistence within the school and outside the school communities. The schools will be conducive for academic progress of the students and for the professional development of the teachers.  The schools will become ideal, perfect and desired community for everyone to live and contribute to the development of the larger community. The paper highlights some policy issues to be considered and put in place in support of the teachers and principals.

This research employed the comparative analysis method in order to determine the range of industrial geography issues in secondary schools geography teaching programmes and textbooks. The aim of the research was to identify the factors that determine the choice and presentation methods of topics in industrial geography. The quantitative and qualitative analysis was conducted on the basis of a query of currently used state-approved teaching programmes and textbooks in geography for secondary schools (gymnasium, general, specialized, and technical secondary schools). In total, 15 programmes and 15 textbooks were analysed at the level of lower-secondary school, and 10 programmes and 10 textbooks at the level of upper-secondary schools. Generally, the issues in industrial geography are included in the II- and III-form programmes of both lower- and upper-secondary schools. The amount of time that the teacher can devote to industrial geography topics is rather small, and most often equals from 1 to 3 classes. Therefore it is crucial that the syllabuses and textbooks treat these issues in accordance with the contemporary trends in geography teaching methodology and with the industrial geography scientific state of the art. This article investigates how these assumptions are realized in relation to the industrial geography issues in the syllabuses, teaching programmes and textbooks.

Contemporary career guidance and counselling approaches with particular interest to subjects which concern the development of career management skills since these skills are considered important means for the active exploration of the vocational course and the development of a career. The development of skills related to career adaptability and self-efficacy in the planning of a career could help students who are finishing Upper-secondary School (Lykeio) to approach creatively their career aims, and to deal effectively with the transitions or unexpected events by applying appropriate actions. The present study employed the survey research strategy in order to examine the level of the career adaptability and self-efficacy in the planning of a career with male and female students (N = 240) of Upper-secondary Schools (General Lykeia - GEL) and Vocational Upper-secondary Schools (Vocational Lykeia - EPAL) in Greece. Specifically, it examined the level of skills which students declare that they possess regarding the type of school, their gender and the educational level of the parents. The finding that the levels of career adaptability differentiated not only as regards the gender of the students but also the studies of the father and the mother has presented particular interest while the students who study at the General Lykeia were found to have higher scores in the areas: “career interest” and “curiosity” in the Career Adapt-abilities Scale (CAAS) compared with students who study at the Vocational Lykeia (EPAL). Finally, the motif of the scores in the B’ Class of Lykeio showed that the students of EPAL excelled in all the skills apart from the factor “career interest” while correspondingly in the C’ class of Lykeio students of the General Lykeio (GEL) excelled in all skill categories. The study aimed at investigating the level of applying transformational leadership pattern by Secondary School principals at Muaqqar & Al-Jeeza educational region and the effect of this on empowering teachers and enabling them to perform their educational message. A questionnaire was designed and distributed on a simple random sample consisted of (340) of the Secondary school principals or teachers at Al-Muaqqar & Al-Jeeza educational regions. A number of 315 questionnaires have been returned back at a response rate of 92%.64. Statistical analysis was carried out using the program of statistical package for social sciences SPSS. After conducting analysis and testing of hypothesis, the study an accepted level of applying transformational leadership among high school principals in the studied region. The study also revealed a statistically significant effect of this leadership pattern on the empowerment of teachers at these schools.

    This study aimed to identify the degree of practicing servant leadership by the principals of governmental secondary school in Amman governorate and its relation to teachers' motivation towards work, from teachers’ point of view, Descriptive correlative research method as the most suitable method for this study and adopted the questionnaire as a means of collecting data both for the servant leadership or motivation. The sample of the study consisted of (347) teachers. They were chosen intentionally from governmental secondary schools in Amman. The descriptive correlational methodology was used. Two questionnaires were used as a tool of the study to collect data, after finding their validity and reliability; the findings showed that the degree of practicing servant leadership by governmental secondary school principals in Amman governorate from teachers’ point of view was low. The level of teachers' motivation towards work was low too. There was a positive significant correlational relationship at (α≤0.05) between the degree of practicing servant leadership by governmental secondary school principals in Amman governorate and teachers' motivation towards work. The Pearson value was (0.61). The main recommendations of the study: organizing training courses on servant leadership for principals of public secondary schools in Jordan., and the adoption of servant leadership in the evaluation process and the selection of school principals by the Ministry of Education.
