AbstractScleritis is the severe painful inflammation of the sclera, which can be infectious or non-infectious. Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the common causes of infectious scleritis. TB, though endemic in countries like India, is rare in pediatric age group. We report a case of a 9-year-old female child who presented with bilateral non-necrotizing anterior scleritis with unilateral posterior scleritis secondary to TB. To our knowledge, this is a rare presentation in pediatric age group, and she is the youngest of few cases of tuberculous posterior scleritis reported in literature.

The differential diagnosis of alopecia in the pediatric age group is simplified by the fact that 90% to 95% of the cases are caused by four major entities: alopecia areata, telogen effluvium, tinea capitis, and trichotillomania. Careful examination of the scalp, hair, and historical pattern of the loss will usually be rewarded by the correct diagnosis.

Leukaemia and lymphoma are the commonly seen malignancies in children, subcutaneous panniculitis-like T-cell lymphoma (SPTL) is not only a rare cause of malignancy but also rare cause of panniculitis in children. We report an unusual presentation of this malignancy in the form of pyrexia of unknown origin (PUO), where rash was seen as very late symptom. Histopathology is seen as key in diagnosis of the disorder.

Inflammatory Syndrome

Multi inflammatory syndrome (MIS) is a rare complication associated with covid-19 with few cases reported in pediatric age group. This entity is not well studied in adults. We report a case of a young male presented to us in very critical condition and was diagnosed as a case of MIS-A (Multi Inflammatory Syndrome - Adult). He was successfully treated with intravenous immunoglobulin, steroids and other supportive measure. By correct and timely diagnosis of this entity, one can prevent fatal outcome.

Incarcerated inguinal hernia is not an uncommon occurrence and the rate of incarceration in inguinal hernias has been variably reported between 3 and 16% with higher incidence among infants. Sigmoid colon as a content of hernia is itself an uncommon occurrence and associated impacted large and hard fecolith makes it a rare case in pediatric age group. Only single published case report could be found depicting these findings in young age group. Here we report 1-year-old child presented with 24 hours history of obstructed left-sided inguinal hernia. On exploration loop of sigmoid colon was identified with impacted fecolith.

ABSTRACT Opacification of the maxillary sinus was first published by Montgomery in the precomputerized era. The term silent sinus syndrome (SSS) was first used by Soparkar et al2 in 1994. They defined an uncommon disease characterized by enophthalmos secondary to ipsilateral atelectasis of the maxillary sinus, even without nasal symptoms. The pathophysiology of SSS was demonstrated by Eto et al in 1993. In this report, we are presenting a case of silent sinus syndrome in a girl of pediatric age group, an unusual age of presentation. Congenital lumbar hernias are uncommonly seen in the pediatric age group, with only about 60 cases reported in the literature. It is usually accompanied by a multitude of congenital anomalies involving different organ systems of the body. For instance, it may involve the ribs, spine, muscles, and the kidneys. Herein, we report a case of congenital lumbar hernia in an 8-month-old boy who underwent an operative repair using a mesh with an uneventful outcome.
