The mining and processing of limestone in the state of Rio de Janeiro, southeast of Brazil, generates a considerable amount of small particles, like a powder ,which is commercialized as a by product. In principle, this inert limestone powder could be recycled as part of another civil construction material. Thus, the objective of this work was to characterize a limestone powder by its physical properties, chemical analysis and microstructural aspects. The results were compared with the characteristics of a common cement and a conventional sand to be possibly applied in the fabrication of limestone incorporated concrete blocks. It was found that the limestone powder has physical, chemical and microstructural characteristics satisfactory for concrete blocks incorporation.

The photometry in the visual field has wide application in analytical laboratories and research physical, chemical, biochemical, pharmacological, etc. It is essential that students of physics and chemistry have knowledge about this quantitative technique. One obstacle to the widespread use of this technique is the cost of equipment and materials to be used. The objective of this work is the introduction of a photometer didactic, whose construction and technique with a low operating cost and the easy using and producing results, as a practical solution to put school improvement. The features highlighted in the work do the proposed photometer an economically viable alternative tool for chemical analysis in the laboratories of the Faculty for research and / or teaching.

Underlining the validity problem can only be welcomed, given the conditions that in nowadays there doesnt exist a recipe without preservatives, antioxidants, colorants etc. Modern technology for meat products has a very important role in improving the quality of aliments, level of civilization and the prosperity of a country. In order to determine the validity of food products we have chosen as an example meat product as they have an equilibrated trophyne composition, a high biological value and special nutritional qualities.Using the cold air technologies in obtaining meat products ensures, together with the food additives, keeping of quality and nutritional characteristics of the final products. For this study we have chosen meat products from the group of boiled and smoked products: beer sausage. In the final we have analyzed the results of the experiment from the quality, microbiological and physical-chemical point of view. The quality exam referred to appreciate the aspect, color, taste, smell, consistency etc. The physical-chemical analysis determined humidity, salt, nitrates, Kreiss reaction and mg. NH3/100 g.

This study assessed the effect of acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) and 1-methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) to control anthracnose in papaya (cultivar Golden). Disinfested-surface fruits were inoculated with Colletotrichum gloeosporioides and then the compounds were applied. The lesion diameters and the physical-chemical properties were analyzed. Assays were carried out with ASA and 1-MCP targeting the control of anthracnose and maintenance of the fruit’s physical-chemical properties. The effect of ASA (20 mM; 20 min) on reducing lesion diameter occurred when applied before inoculation. Fruits treated with 1-MCP (300ppb) for 12 h showed a smaller lesion diameter than control. For the physical-chemical analysis, fruit treated with 1-MCP (200; 300 ppb; 12h) maintained fruit firmness, delayed fruit ripening and fruit fresh weight loss.
