Abstract The occurrence of a myelomeningocele completely embodied within a lumbosacral teratoma is extremely rare. We report on the clinical presentation, radiological appearance, surgical treatment, and histological make up of such a lesion.

Abstract Occurrence of fibrous xanthoma has been reported increasingly in the skull and the central nervous system, but is extremely rare in the gasserian ganglion. We report on the clinical presentation, radiological appearance, surgical treatment, and histological makeup of a fibrous xanthoma arising from the left gasserian ganglion.

Abstract BACKGROUND AND IMPORTANCE: Aneurysms affecting double origin (DO) posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) variants are rare. Most reports describe endovascular occlusion of the affected branch to treat the aneurysm, but we describe a patient in which open surgical sacrifice of 1 branch resulted in insufficient perfusion. This case and our review of PICA embryology provide insight into treatment of aneurysms affecting duplicated intracranial vessels. CLINICAL PRESENTATION: We report the only case of open surgical treatment of an aneurysm affecting a leg of a DOPICA. A 42-year-old woman presenting with the worst headache of her life was found to have a DOPICA aneurysm and initially treated by trapping the aneurysm. Intraoperative indocyanine green imaging revealed insufficient perfusion through the caudal branch, which was remediated by end-to-end anastomosis to preserve flow through both origins. The patient made a full recovery. CONCLUSION: Treating a DOPICA aneurysm by sacrificing 1 of the origins is not possible for all patients. This first report of open surgical treatment of a DOPICA leg aneurysm suggests that 1 or both branches may be required for sufficient perfusion, and the unique embryology of DOPICA development suggests a possible mechanism.

Objective. The hypermobile lateral meniscus of the knee is a rarely described entity. In this case report we aim to draw attention to the clinical presentation and MR imaging findings of this pathology.

Case Report. We review the clinical and imaging findings that led to the diagnosis of hypermobile lateral meniscus with transient subluxation causing intermittent locking, and which subsequently led to successful surgical treatment.

Conclusion. Hypermobile lateral meniscus is rarely diagnosed prospectively on MR imaging. A better understanding of this uncommon condition will lead to prompt diagnosis and effective treatment, with a better outcome for the patient.

ABSTRACT Postoperative desmoid tumors in postmenopausal women is a rare condition. Desmoid tumors are unusual soft tissue benign tumors that arise from musculoaponeurotic tissues. They also have ingrowing tendencies to intestines causing unusual clinical presentation. Recent surgical intervention is known in such cases. FNAC is not contributory due to hypocellularity. CT pelvis, abdomen is helpful. Surgical treatment is usually required. Case report is of this unusual condition in our practice.

Labial fusion is sealing of labia minora in midline, also known as labial adhesion or labial agglutination or synechia vulvae. This condition is common in pre-pubertal females usually asymptomatic when oestrogen levels are low and commonly resolves spontaneously post-puberty if unresolved medical treatment includes use of estrogen cream or betamethasone cream application, very rarely surgical treatment required, if not responding to medical treatment due to dense adhesions. This case report is unusual as it has presented in a post-pubertal female requiring surgical management.

Isolated lesions to the teres major muscle are rare. They generally occur in patients participating in sports such as baseball, tennis, or boxing. We report the case of a sports patient who suffered an isolated injury to the teres major while water skiing. The clinical presentation was confirmed by MRI. Conservative treatment was chosen and consisted of brief analgesic immobilization, followed by rehabilitative treatment. The rapid recovery of this patient with normal isokinetic strength evaluation at 6 months was interesting for objectifying full muscle recovery. Our results and the data from the literature suggest that functional rather than surgical treatment is preferable in isolated lesions to the teres major muscle.

Cavernous hemangiomas are benign tumours of mesodermal origin. Even though various localizations of hemangioma have been described in the literature, its occurrence in the greater omentum is very rare. Only symptomatic hemangiomas are indicated for surgical treatment. There are case reports presenting resection or surgical removal of the greater omentum with hemangioma because of mechanical syndrome, consumption coagulopathy, bleeding, infection or suspicion of a malignancy. This article presents a case report of a patient operated on for a suspicion of carcinomatosis of the greater omentum. Histological examination found hemangiomatosis in the resected greater omentum.
