Abstract Background: During the outbreak and spread of COVID-19, the extension of college students' time spent studying at home changed their physical exercise behavior and affected the physical activity behavior of the whole family.Methods: A questionnaire survey was conducted among 1,582 college students using a specific measurement scale. A total of 305 urban college students were selected as research subjects. SPSS24.0 and AMOS24.0 were used for statistical analysis.Results: During the COVID-19 transmission period, the pair correlation coefficients of exercise behavior, exercise attitude, and family exercise conditions were 0.63, 0.36, and 0.25, respectively. The influence on family exercise behavior is as follows: college students' exercise behavior (0.403), family exercise support (0.329), and college students' exercise attitude (0.257). The most significant influence on family exercise support is college students' exercise attitude (0.509). The regression model of family exercise behavior standardization had 0.74 and 0.44 explanatory power to family exercise behavior and family exercise support, respectively.Conclusions: The individual-level interventions were assessed by considering the interaction between individual exercise behavior and individual factors. In addition, the exercise environment exhibited a regulatory role and should be controlled. At the interpersonal level, the communication of the college students regarding exercise behavior was bidirectional. Exercise support for family members is an important factor affecting two-way communication and has a significant effect. With the development of the exercise behavior theory, the interaction between individuals is the origin of the spread of group behavior. The data suggest that instead of one-way influence two-way influence mechanisms should be proposed to assess the transformation from the individual to group exercise behavior.

Background: The decline in the physical fitness of college students has become a serious social problem worldwide. Therefore, exploring the factors affecting the amount of exercise of college students is of great significance in improving college students' physique. According to the expectation value theory and previous studies, perceived exercise benefit and perceived severity of disease and weakness may have positive or negative impact on exercise behavior, and according to the self-efficacy theory, physical evaluation self-efficacy may be the most powerful motivational factors and it play a mediating role between other factors and exercise behavior. Therefore, this study was designed to determine the critical role of physical evaluation self-efficacy in the path of perceived exercise benefit and perceived severity of disease and weakness affecting the amount of exercise of college students.Methods: By means of Physical Fitness Health Belief of College Students Scale and Physical Activity Rating Scale (PARS-3), 801 undergraduate students were investigated in this study.Results: (1) When perceived exercise benefit, exercise self-efficacy, and severity of perceived disease and weakness predicted the amount of exercise separately, the first two have a positive effect on the amount of exercise, but the latter has no effect. However, when these three factors entered the regression equation at the same time, the perceived severity of disease and weakness had a negative effect on the amount of exercise. (2) The influence of physical evaluation self-efficacy on the college students' the amount of exercise was bigger than benefit of perceived exercise and the perceived severity of disease and weakness in both separated and simultaneous comparison conditions. (3) Physical evaluation self-efficacy completely mediated the positive effect of perceived exercise benefits on the amount of exercise and inhibited the negative effect of perceived severity of disease and weakness on the amount of exercise.Conclusion: Physical evaluation self-efficacy has a strong predictive power on the amount of exercise of college students. This was reflected in its ability to mediate the impact of expectation of exercise results and in its ability to suppress the adverse effects of concern about illness on exercise.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the mediating role of exercise value cognition between family function (FF) and exercise behavior and the moderating role of an only-child status. A questionnaire survey was conducted on 504 Chinese college students using the FF scale, the exercise value cognition scale, and the exercise behavior scale. The analysis yielded four main findings. (1) There are significant differences between an only-child and a non-only-child for negative exercise behavior and FF. The only-child group has a higher average FF score and a lower average negative exercise score. (2) Exercise behavior and four of its dimensions—exercise autonomy, attention control, exercise planning, and situational induction—are each significantly positively correlated with FF and exercise value cognition. (3) FF is a significantly positive predictor of exercise behavior, both directly and through exercise value cognition, which plays a partial mediating role. (4) Only-child status significantly moderates the mediating effect of exercise value cognition in the link between FF and exercise behavior. The intergroup differences mainly manifest in the influence of FF on exercise behavior and the influence of exercise value cognition on exercise behavior. In the only-child subsample, exercise value cognition plays a complete mediating role. The results of the current study demonstrated the important role that FF and exercise value cognition played in promoting the exercise behavior of college students. These findings have important implications for exercise behavior in adolescents by maintaining sound communication between family members and developing a healthy lifestyle or value cognition.
