This article describes in detail the “IMAS-Fish” web-based tool implementation technicalities and provides examples on how can it be used for scientific and management purposes setting new standards in fishery science. “IMAS-Fish” was developed to support the assessment of marine biological resources by: (i) homogenizing all the available datasets under a relational database, (ii) facilitating quality control and data entry, (iii) offering easy access to raw data, (iv) providing processed results through a series of classical and advanced fishery statistics algorithms, and (v) visualizing the results on maps using GIS  technology. Available datasets cover among others: Fishery independent experimental surveys data (locations, species, catch compositions, biological data); Commercial fishing activities (fishing gear, locations, catch compositions, discards); Market sampling data (species, biometry, maturity, ageing); Satellite derived ocean data (Sea surface temperature, Salinity, Wind speed, Chlorophyll-a concentrations, Photosynthetically active radiation); Oceanographic parameters (CTD measurements); Official national fishery statistics; Fishing fleet registry and VMS  data; Fishing ports inventory; Fishing legislation archive (national and EU); Bathymetry grids. Currently, the homogenized database holds a total of more than 100,000,000 records. The web-based application is accessible through an internet browser and can serve as a valuable tool for all involved stakeholders: fisheries scientists, state officials responsible for management, fishermen cooperatives, academics, students and NGOs.

Computer-based information management systems have allowed many companies and facilities to greatly improve their data storage and processing capabilities over traditional paper and file methods. The Internet and its associated web-based technologies have further contributed to information processing capabilities. The Federal Transit Administration’s Bus Testing Program, operated by the Pennsylvania Transportation Institute at the Pennsylvania State University requires an upgrade to such a system. Currently, all bus test data is entered directly into a hardcopy report, and data analysis must be performed manually. The objective in this research is to develop an information management system for the bus test data to facilitate access to the data, enable search queries, and perform statistical analyses to examine current trends or predict performance characteristics of future buses. A database has been created in Microsoft Access and linked to a user-friendly graphical user interface developed in Visual Basic for fast and nearly error-free data entry. A web-based infrastructure comprised of HTML, XML, ASP, and customized COM objects is used to display, search, and analyze the bus test data. The resulting information system saves time and money for PTI while enabling easy access to bus test reports.

This study aims to analyze and provide a solutive proposal to the payroll system at St. Elisabeth Hospital which is not implemented an integrated system and still uses manual calculations. By Using Database Management System and designing web based interface then payroll system become more effective and efficient. Integrated system solves data redundancy problems and integrates payroll sub-sub systems. Integrated process allows for the integration of reports with fast processing and minimizing problems caused by human error. The effectiveness and efficiency of the payroll system will have an impact on optimal hospital services.

AbstractWith the growing amount of research projects in the field of interventional radiology, storing and organizing the patients' data and information effectively is becoming more difficult. Existing hospital electronic medical record and archiving systems store patient information in the form of reports which put the physicians and researchers in a situation where they have to use time-consuming manual search through reports for suitable patients for different clinical researches. Spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft Excel® (Microsoft, Washington, USA) are often used as a data storage, which has limitations in both organization and the quality of the data. Higher risk of incorrect data entry and introducing duplicates are associated with data input and analysis without a database system. Furthermore, selection, as well as calculation of data, is time-consuming. This article aims to provide interventionists with an efficient data collection tool optimized for interventional oncology clinical research. The implementation of the current database and interface allows a much faster and more detailed retrospective analysis of patient cohorts. The database management system with an interface is a very time-efficient and robust tool that provides a significant edge over the manual retrieval of patient records by filtering data and assisting statistical analysis in a study-relevant fashion.

This study aims to analyze and provide a solutive proposal to the payroll system at St. Elisabeth Hospital which is not implemented an integrated system and still uses manual calculations. Redundancy issues are a major issue, including waste of storage, inaccurate overtime calculations, as the effects of unintegrated systems.

Students’ final year projects are often characterized by poor quality, duplication of existing works, prolonged research writing and late submission. This TetFund sponsored research project: Web-based Student Project Management System, is designed with the latest technologies to mitigate these challenges. The project is designed to provide continuous, timeless and boundless communication between project coordinators and students, students and their supervisors, as well as students researching in the same field. The project automates routine project activities such as listing and selection of project topics, approval of project topics, project report writing guidelines, student/supervisor correspondence, assessment and report submission, and finally report storage and management. Thus, it will eliminate the duplication and recycling of existing projects by making sure that such projects are rejected automatically at the very point of submission for approval, as well as guarantee high quality and timely completion and submission of students’ projects. Agile software design approach, due to its high degree of stakeholder involvement and incremental testing of functionalities, was deployed to design the project. Also the system was developed using Java programming language with Apache Tomcat Server and MySQL as the Database Management System.

SQL injection happened in electronic records in database and it is still exist even after two decades since it first happened. Most of the web-based applications are still vulnerable to the SQL injection attacks. Although technology had improved a lot during these past years, but, hackers still can find holes to perform the SQL injection. There are many methods for this SQL injection to be performed by the hackers and there is also plenty of prevention for the SQL injection to be happened. The vulnerability to SQL injection is very big and this is definitely a huge threat to the web based application as the hackers can easily hacked their system and obtains any data and information that they wanted anytime and anywhere. This paper can conclude that several proposed techniques from existing journal papers used for preventing SQL injection. Then, it comes out with Blockchain concept to prevent SQL injection attacks on database management system (DBMS) via IP.
