Ruled surfaces have long been known and are widely used in construction, architecture, design and engineering. And if from the technical point of view the developable surfaces are more attractive, then architecture and design successfully experiment with non-developable ones. In this paper are considered non-developable ruled surfaces with three generators, two of which are curvilinear ones. According to classification, such surfaces are called twice oblique cylindroids. In this paper has been proposed an approach for obtaining of twice oblique cylindroids by immersing a curve in a line congruence of hyperbolic type. Real directrixes of such congruence are a straight line and a curve. It has been proposed to use helical lines (cylindrical and conical ones) as a curvilinear directrix, and a helical line’s axis as the straight one. Then the congruence’s rectilinear ray will simultaneously intersect the helical line and its axis. Congruence parameters are the line’s pitch and the guide cylinder or cone’s radius. The choice of the curvilinear directrix is justified by the fact that the helical lines have found a wide application in engineering and architecture. Accordingly, the helical lines based surfaces can have a great potential. In this paper have been presented parametric equations of the considered congruences. The congruence equations have been considered from the point of view related to introducing a new curvilinear coordinate system. The obtained system’s coordinate surfaces and coordinate lines have been also studied in the paper. To extract the surface, it is necessary to immerse the curve in the congruence. To synthesize the equations has been used a constructive-parametric method based on the substitution of the immersed line’s parametric equations in the congruence equations according to a special algorithm. In the paper have been presented 5 examples for the synthesis of ruled surfaces equations such as the twice oblique cylindroid and their visualization. The method is universal and algorithmic, and therefore easily adaptable for the automated construction of surfaces with variable parameters of both the congruence and the immersed line.

As a research area, interior design took shape in the 20s of the last century, despite the fact that the practice of decorating living spaces dates back many hundreds of years. However, the "self-sufficiency" of design and its connection with architecture to this day is the subject of scientific discussions of urban specialists, historians, art historians, and anthropologists. The article discusses the leading artistic styles and trends that prevailed in architecture and design from the point of view of their mutual influence on each other. Time frame of the research: from the middle of XIX century to the first half of XX century. As a result of the research of foreign experience in the formation of interior design, the main stages of the movement development and its relationship with architecture in two formations were identified: activities directly dependent on architectural decisions, activities that determine the entire design process to a large extent: from the functional zoning of the premises to the features of the placement of utilities in the building. Entering the information era in art as a whole is characterized by the rejection of slogans that clearly delineate stylistic boundaries and determine the role of a designer in creating the living space. The determining factor influencing the integrity of the building’s appearance in a modern view is the harmony of the facade and the internal content, which was made possible thanks to the equal interaction of the architect and designer, starting from the first half of the 20th century.

According to Wikipedia "scoliosis is a medical condition in which a person's spine is curved from side to side. Although it is a complex three-dimensional deformity, on an X-ray, viewed from the rear, the spine of an individual with scoliosis can resemble an `S' or a `?', rather than a straight line". This definition fits very well with the syndrome observed in many structures of Z-DNA nucleotides. In contrast to the A- and B-forms of DNA, where the sugar-phosphate backbone smoothly follows the right-handed helical line, in Z-DNA the backbone winds as a left-handed zig-zag pattern, repeating every two base pairs. On the basis of the first structures of Z-DNA it was observed that the phosphate groups can be rotated towards the outside of the helix in the ZI type or towards the inside in the ZII type of Z-DNA. A large number of crystal structures of Z-DNA oligomers are currently available in the Protein Data Bank, where both backbone types are observed, often co-existing as alternative, partially occupied conformations. At first it was postulated that the backbone conformation adopted by Z-DNA depends on the presence of metal cations and polyamines in the crystal structures, but later it was realized that the ZI and ZII conformations are not specific to the sequence or the interactions with metal ions [1]. A comparison of larger number of high-resolution Z-DNA structures reveals that the structures can adopt a range of backbone torsion angles between the two values representing the canonical ZI and ZII types [2].

The article discusses a method of extreme control of the driving effects of the microclimate, which consists in keeping the objective function at the point of extremum for the control system. To solve the problem of extreme management, it is necessary to introduce computerization of the control and development of forest planting material. This will allow you to collect statistical information for the entire time of observation of plant growth. The primary task here is the analysis of observations and the possibility of generating regulatory influences from the microprocessor control system of the microclimate of the greenhouse. From literature sources, the stages of development of forest seedlings are known, for which data on the natural growth of seedlings and seedlings based on processing of statistical material are obtained. To date, recent studies show that there are no necessary mathematical models, both in growth and in the development of planting material under changing conditions and the nature of growth, and in time periods. Thus, objects of sheltered soil can be attributed from the point of view of the object of control and regulation to systems with variable parameters. That is, they can be characterized as unknown mathematical models.

A straight line, pen-drawn and executed on a pen-plotter, is by default sharp and crisp. This is the nature of a straight line between two points. Likewise, drawings generated from such lines are by definition sharp. This paper considers generative line drawings, executed on a pen-plotter which appears to be wholly or in part unsharp when viewed. Described here are some strategies based on systematic experiments with geometric transformations to produce such drawings. The topic is approached from an artist’s point of view with a focus on the generative and algorithmic issues involved, and the results are demonstrated by examples.

1. Polynomial coefficients have been fitted to data on growth in live weight to 19 months and on height at withers to 27 months of age shown by one-egg (MZ) and two-egg (DZ) twins and pairs of half-sisters (HZ). The coefficients obtained (a0, a2 and a3) have been subjected to analysis of variance.2. For growth in live weight, the ratio of intrapair variances for MZ, DZ and HZ pairs was 1:6·8:10 for a1, which gives the straight line best fitting the observed curve. Unrelated pairs, it is calculated, would have had an intrapair variance 20·9 times as great as MZ pairs. From the point of view of minimizing the intrapair variance, the advantage of the MZ pairs was usually a little less for a0, and considerably less for a2 and a3.3. For height at withers, the results were similar to those for weight.4. The contribution of environmental variance to total intrapair variance increased from a0 to a3, while that due to additive genetic effects diminished. Owing to the wide fiducial limits applicable, the results can be accommodated assuming only additive genetic effects in addition to environmental effects as estimated from one-egg twins. The extent to which HZ pairs exceeded the variance expected, however, suggests that this simple assumption may prove inadequate.

We investigate the ruled surfaces generated by a straight line in Bishop frame moving along a spacelike curve in Minkowski 3-space. We obtain the distribution parameters, mean curvatures. We give some results and theorems related to be developable and minimal of them. Furthermore, we show that, if the base curve of the ruled surface is also an asymtotic curve and striction line, then the ruled surface is developable.

Predictions of workroom noise levels are based on predictions of the workroom sound-propagation curve, SP( r) – the variation with distance r from an omnidirectional point source of the sound-pressure level Lp ( r) minus the source sound-power level Lw SP( r) = Lp ( r)- Lw. While more accurate approaches such as ray tracing exist, from a practical point of view there is considerable scope for developing simple empirical prediction methods. In fact, several such models exist. However, these have short-comings which warrant the development of a new model. The approach taken here was to predict the slope(s) and absolute level(s) of the sound-propagation curve, approximated by one or more straight-line segments. With this in mind, octave-band sound-propagation measurements were made in a number of empty and fitted workrooms. The curves were approximated by one or two straight-line segments. The intercepts and slopes of the segments were then determined, and their averages and standard deviations calculated. The statistical trends provide information on the behaviour of sound in industrial workrooms. The results are used to develop simple empirical prediction models.

The article describes the role of urban design in the theoretical prospect of the sociology of architecture. I argue that the architecture and design select people (user and tenants) using aesthetic parameter. The process of social segregation as a result of gentrification and modernization is often hidden behind the discourse around design and serves the contemporary elites. I present the point of view elaborated by Project for Public Spaces as an example of place-centered (and not design-centered) approach.
