Abstract This study is concerned with the tracking control problem for nonlinear uncertain robotic systems in the presence of unknown actuator nonlinearities. A novel adaptive sliding controller is designed based on a robust disturbance observer without any prior knowledge of actuator nonlinearities and system dynamics. The proposed control strategy can guarantee that the tracking error eventually converges to an arbitrarily small neighborhood of zero. Simulation results are included to demonstrate the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed strategy.

This paper investigates the control problem for a class of teleoperation systems with communication delays. The network-induced delays are usually inevitable in teleoperation systems, and may be time varying and unpredictable. Since the conventional Smith predictor is only useful for fixed delays, a novel delay compensation and controller design method is proposed in this paper. The proposed method combines a disturbance rejection controller and a communication disturbance observer (CDOB). Simulations are provided to show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed delay compensation and controller design method.

This paper studies the synchronization of two different fractional-order chaotic systems through the fractional-order control method, which can ensure that the synchronization error converges to a sufficiently small compact set. Afterwards, the disturbance observer of the synchronization control scheme based on adaptive parameters is designed to predict unknown disturbances. The Lyapunov function method is used to verify the appropriateness of the disturbance observer design and the convergence of the synchronization error, and then the feasibility of the control scheme is obtained. Finally, our simulation studies verify and clarify the proposed method.

Low-voltage direct current (DC) microgrid based on distributed generation (DG), the problems of load mutation affecting the DC bus under island mode, and the security problems that may arise when the DC microgrid is switched from island mode to grid-connected mode are considered. Firstly, a DC bus control algorithm based on disturbance observer (DOB) was proposed to suppress the impact of system load mutation on DC bus in island mode. Then, in a grid-connected mode, a pre-synchronization control algorithm based on a neural network adaptive control was proposed, and the droop controller was improved to ensure better control accuracy. Through this pre-synchronization control, the microgrid inverters output voltage could quickly track the power grid’s voltage and achieve an accurate grid-connected operation. The effectiveness of the algorithms was verified by simulation.
