Supplier selection is a key decision in the procurement and purchasing processes. Both the choice of criteria and the evaluation of possible alternatives are critical steps in this decision-making process. One of the great challenges of private higher education institutions (PHEI) in Brazil in recent decades has been the attempt to institutionalize administrative practices applied in the business market. The primary goal of this is to optimize their business processes and achieve reduced risks and operational costs, thereby increasing their productivity and the quality of services. These initiatives aim to maintain self-sustaining and competitive institutions in an aggressive market that is constantly expanding. Therefore, a critical and professionalized look at their business processes has been one of the solutions for the PHEI to achieve their organizational goals. In this context, this paper proposes to formalize the decision-making process for the selection of suppliers through their systematization using cognitive maps to structure and identify the criteria that effectively present value during the partner selection of the decision-maker's procurement and purchasing department. The paper also proposes the subsequent prioritization of these criteria for evaluation and selection of potential suppliers by using the AHP multi-criteria method.

The paper presents the role of information in the activity of public or private higher education schools. The paper defines two evaluation criteria for information value. The first of them is uncertainty, which is called information entropy. Then the influence of information entropy on the decision-making process is shown. The types of threats to information security are defined. The other criterion enables the evaluation of the value of message. This is strictly a statistical function of the expected benefits which can occur when a message will be used in the decision-making process. The paper presents a classification of the sources of threats which are divided into two groups: internal or external. The article explains a necessity to establish an information security system in an educational organisation such as a college or a university. Its important part is a security forum, which gathers personnel from each department of a college or a university. The security forum specifies risks for the university information assets which will next be protected by safeguards.

This article puts forward a decision model for solving a supplier selection problem in a food industry by considering multiple objectives that influence the decision-making process. In times of increasing competitiveness, companies strive hard to improve their profitability, and selection of supply sources may help if an appropriate decision is made through a well-structured decision-making process. Preference modeling is conducted in a flexible and interactive elicitation manner with the decision-maker (DM), aided by FITradeoff method. Partial information is gathered about the DM’s preferences in such a way that less effort is spent on finding a final solution for the problem.

The analysis of large volumes of data is an important activity in manufacturing companies, since they allow improving the decision-making process. The data analysis has generated that the services and products are personalized, and how the consumption of the products has evolved, obtaining results that add value to the companies in real time. In this case study, developed in a large manufacturing company of electronic components as robots and AC motors; a strategy has been proposed to analyze large volumes of data and be able to analyze them to support the decision-making process; among the proposed activities of the strategy are: Analysis of the technological architecture, selection of the business processes to be analyzed, installation and configuration of Hadoop software, ETL activities, and data analysis and visualization of the results. With the proposed strategy, the data of nine production factors of the motor PCI boards were analyzed, which had a greater incidence in the rejection of the components; a solution was made based on the analysis, which has allowed a decrease of 28.2% in the percentage of rejection.

The main aim of this paper is to investigate the factors which influence students when deciding to study abroad. The case study is based on Polish students studying in the British higher education system (UK HE) and the paper examines these students’ choices and their decision-making process when selecting their university studies. The literature review suggests that there are two types of factors influencing students’ decision- making process: push factors, which operate within the home country, and pull factors, meaning that students are attracted by the host country and encouraged to study there. Polish students constitute a significant group of EU students who study in the UK and yet there are very few studies on this particular group. The results from this qualitative research on Polish students studying in a selected British university indicate that, contrary to a number of other studies, pull factors could be more important in influencing Polish students’ decision-making process regarding studying abroad.

Purpose:  The purpose of this research is to determine either financial aid moderates the factors influence among undergraduate students’ decision making to enroll at private HEI. Methodology: The survey consists of a questionnaire responded by 500 undergraduate students in private HEI located at Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. Data were analyzed by SPSS applied model 1 moderating analysis with the usage of the macro PROCESS by Hayes and Matthes (2009). Results: The results of this research shows that Competition among private HEI is becoming tougher as students have many options and set of selection criteria. The high numbers of private HEI indirectly given ample choice to students to choose based on their requirements. Private HEI at the same time competes with each other to increase the number of students in order to survive. As resulted, four hypotheses (H8a, H8b, H8c, and H8e) were moderated by financial aid and two hypotheses (H8d and H8f) rejected in this study. Implications: Therefore, the existence of financial aid was important and slightly influential students’ decision to enroll in private HEI for four hypotheses (H8a, H8b, H8c, H8e), while for two hypotheses (H4 and H6) students consider financial aid not at all influential their decision to enroll in private HEI in this study.

In a market economy a higher education estanlishments (HEEs) is viewed as a provider of educational services in the environment of tough competition for funding. Thus, the nature of HEE management processes to a great extent resembles business processes of an enterprise. Recent amendments to the Ukrainian legislation introduce KPI for assessing University efficiency, which has been included into the formula for state funding distribution. All that changes motivate educational institutions to introduce innovations, such as dual studies. Private higher education establishments should have been more interested in such innovations, which may help increase revenues by attracting more applicants, as well as investments from the private sector. However, it should be noted that only one private higher education institution is currently participating in an experiment (Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine №1296 as of 15.10.2019) aimed at an introduction of the dual form of education in Ukraine, in contrast to the situation in Germany, where a significant share of dual HEEs are private and their establishment is viewed as a business project and a response to a market demand. This article presents an updated forecast of the spread of dual studies management in Ukraine based on the Bass innovation diffusion model, which takes into account a range of variables (factors of influence). In the absence of public financial or tax instruments to stimulate partnerships of companies and HEEs in a market economy of a developing country, economic actors are very careful when it comes to investing in education. This reduces the number of partners of HEEs needed for dual studies introduction. In addition, HEEs and employers, unlike students, are not ready to introduce such an innovation on a large scale, as it requires the introduction of new management system. According to Bass's diffusion of innovation, there are three possible scenarios of dual studies spread as an innovation accepted by HEEs. The most likely scenario is a pessimistic one, which envisages the introduction of dual studies management in 55 higher education institutions over the next 15 years, which together with 17 HEEs-innovators makes 25% of the total market volume.
