The development construction assumes a critical part in any developing nation. Now a days time, cost and productivity of project had become primary concern of all the construction projects so in order to tackle the time, work and resource productivity in the scheduling works. There is most likely that development is a key movement inside any economy; it impacts, and is affected by, the country's (GDP).The objective to investigation and  find out the RII to identify rank of factor to influence multiple crew based productivity scheduling for construction projects on Chennai. To achieve this objective, 30 productivity scheduling factors of multiple crew which are grouped as seven groups: a)design and planning engineer crew ,b).engineering crew, a) construction supervisor crew, d) labour crew, e) fabrication crew, f) safety crew, g)quality crew and this are done by the questionnaire survey and representative by the statistical approach. The factors which effects on multiple crew based productivity scheduling  are investigated and top 10 are the most critical factors which are given as follows: (1) Shortage of labours , (2) Shifting methods ,(3)Financial issues   ,(4)Workmanship  , (5) Insufficient lighting ,(6)Distribution  of skill labour, (7) Skill of labour,  (8) Weather conditions, (9) Preparing and assigning the resources ,(10) Length of working day. Despite the fact that the results of this investigation in  factors affecting on multiple crew in the construction companies in Chennai to fill a gap of knowledge used by construction  industry members to construct up a more deeper and wider  viewpoint of the issues affecting the productivity of crew, and give direction to engineers, managers, experience persons of multiple crew force for effective utilization, consequently help with accomplishing a realistic level of effectiveness and financially effective activity.

In the area of the construction sector, the primary concern is economic growth. There are many issues and challenges associated with it. The growth and rapid development of this industry put their players, mainly the construction firms feeling the heat by competing with each other. The main challenge is the completion period for a particular project. This study was done in Manila, Philippines, where Design and Build (D&B) method has gained much interest and considered very important today. The rise of new innovative systems saw the emergence of new factors in the construction industry that will become future adoption. This study focuses on factors affecting the successful completion period of the construction industry, whereby it is very crucial for the country's economic and market development. A quantitative research methodology was applied in this study. A total of 967 survey questionnaires sent out, and only 396 respondents fit to be analysed. Respondents involved were contractors, consultants, and developers. It was learned that critical success factors in project management play significant roles in driving projects to examine the determinants of success completion time of Design & Build construction projects. Findings from this study shall be used by the authority in drafting a policy guideline for future construction development. It is hoped that this study provides a better understanding of construction challenges for future undertaking.

Labor constitutes a significant portion of the overall cost of a construction project, where labor productivity is often the main driver of the cost. Although studies on labor productivity factors exist, their frequency of occurrence in terms of their ranking remains unexplored. This study differs from other studies in the literature by introducing the frequency component to the productivity factors, a more realistic ranking of the factors by adjusting the importance by frequency (frequency adjusted importance index) and risk mapping of the factors. Moreover, this study is the first to apply risk mapping on labor productivity drivers. The aim of this paper is to identify the project factors affecting the labor productivity in construction projects and to rank these factors considering the perception of the industry on project performance. A literature review of past relevant studies was performed to identify and draft a list of factors affecting labor productivity in construction projects. Thirty-seven labor productivity factors were presented in a questionnaire to investigate the impact and frequency of their occurrence in construction projects. A 9-point scale structured questionnaire was constructed to measure the importance and the frequency of the factors and to evaluate the ranking for different categories. The frequency adjusted importance index (FAII), Spearman’s rank correlation, and risk mapping were used to study and analyze the 105 completed responses. The participants rated the following factors as the five most significant labor productivity-influencing factors: (1) poor labor supervision, (2) delays in payments, (3) poor work environment, (4) lowly skilled labor, and (5) bad weather conditions.

Deciding whether bid for the construction project is classic risk-based decision-making that is crucial to the survival and prosperousness of construction companies. More contractors are adopting group bidding decision-making to reduce the number of incorrect decisions. However, previous related studies mainly focus on project factors that overlook the members of bidding groups and the interaction between bidding group members. The aim of this paper, therefore, is to investigate the potential factors that influence group bidding decision-making for construction projects. Twenty factors relating to individual, group, and organizational levels are identified through a literature review and interviews with experienced practitioners. A questionnaire survey of 203 Chinese international contractors is conducted to obtain the importance of the factors involved. The results of the ranking analysis indicate 14 critical factors, among which “risk perception” and “team decision preference” are regarded as the two most significant. Moreover, 20 factors can be classified into five groupings: (1) values and strategic goals, (2) collaboration and learning orientation, (3) consensus reaching, (4) risk awareness, and (5) empowerment and development, with risk awareness having an especially strong influence. This research deepens the understanding of factors belonging to different organizational levels that need to be highlighted during the group bidding decision-making process and provides strategies for bidding groups and their companies to improve their decision performance.

Poor productivity of construction workers is one of the causes of cost and time overruns in construction projects. The productivity of labour is particularly important especially in developing countries, where most of the building construction work is still on manual basis. This paper reports on a survey made on project managers of building projects in Uganda, where an increase in productivity is being sought. Respondents were required to rate using their experience how 36 factors affect productivity with respect to time, cost and quality. The survey was carried out by a questionnaire and responses received over a period of 3 months. The ten most significant problems affecting labour productivity were identified as incompetent supervisors; lack of skills from the workers; rework; lack of tools/equipment; poor construction methods; poor communication; inaccurate drawings; stoppages because of work being rejected by consultants; political insecurity; tools/equipment breakdown; and harsh weather conditions. Although lack of materials is ranked highest with regard to average rating on loss of time, it was not ranked among the top ten using the importance index that takes into account time, cost as well as work quality. The policy makers and researchers should focus on the identified major factors in order to improve productivity.

The intense competition between the Iranian construction companies has led them to take all appropriate measures to decrease the costs as much as possible. Hence, due to the pivotal role of human resources in construction projects cost, a major part of Iranian construction companies seek their profitability and survival in maximizing the productivity of their operatives. Because of the widespread belief among contractors about the low productivity of daily workers and operatives with basic salary, they commit a major part of their projects activities to sub-contractors. Deployment of sub-contractors by construction firms has become largely conventional in country's construction projects. The aims of this paper is defined as determining the factors and grounds affecting sub-contractors productivity and evaluate their overall negative side effects on project productivity via a structured questionnaire. A total of 31 factors selected and were divided into 7 broad categories. The perceptions of companies managers were asked about the level of effect brought about by the mentioned factors and groups upon productivity on a time based criterion. The analysis indicated that the most important grounds affecting sub-contractors productivity in descending order include: Materials/Tools, Construction technology and method, Planning, Supervision system, Reworks, Weather, and Jobsite condition. Project managers should focus on the identified major grounds and relevant factors in order to improve productivity as long as they commit construction activities to sub-contractors.

This research is about factors affecting employees’ turnover intention in construction companies. Employees’ turnover intention is known as the organization’s workers’ intent or plan to leave their current working place’s position. Malaysia has scored third highest voluntary turnover rate, which is 9.5% in Southeast Asia year 2015. Most of the construction projects are difficult and complex to manage it. High employees’ turnover rate may influence the construction companies’ productivity and performances. There are many factors that will affect employees’ turnover intention, such as colleague relations, organizational commitment, organizational justice, organizational reputation, communication, and organizational politics. In order to address the issues above, this research was aims to identify the factors affecting employees’ turnover intention and to determine the relationship between the factors and employees’ turnover intention. Therefore, in order to achieve these objectives, a questionnaire survey involving 160 employees conducted to Grade 7 construction company in Klang, Selangor. There was 73 companies’ worker who responded to the survey. The data analysis conducted using SPSS and SmartPLS, and the results showed that organizational politics were mostly caused employees’ turnover intention in construction companies. The findings also showed that communication and organizational politics had a negative relationship with employees’ turnover intention. Results from this research can provide the evidence and bring convince for the construction companies in Malaysia to reduce employees turnover rate. In the future, the scope of the study can be expanded to other states of Malaysia to improve the reliability of this study.

This paper describes the factors affecting resource based scheduling and the barrier/constraints against the implementation of resource based scheduling in Indian construction project. However the traditional methods such as critical path method and program evaluation and review technique are based on time but actual work is not completed on time. Hence it becomes essential to follow a resource based schedule which is based on actual availability of resource to meet the project deadline. This paper mainly focuses the resource oriented scheduling techniques and it is helpful to investigate the implementation of scheduling, type of scheduling adopted, method of scheduling, status of scheduling implementation in various construction firm. The questionnaire survey was conducted to determine the factors affecting resource oriented scheduling implementation and barriers/constraints against its implementation in the Indian construction project. The collected data was analyzed using statistical tool. Prioritization of the factors by frequency analysis and average index method was carried out. The barriers/constraints against implementation of resource scheduling were identified and presented. Suitable suggestions for the Indian construction companies were given to promote and motivate the professionals entering the firm at the initial stage about the concepts of resource scheduling so that they have a genuine commitment in the implementation of resource scheduling.

Proper completion of a public building construction project is dependent on the effectiveness of the construction supervision. However, it has become increasingly difficult to finish construction projects within the specified time, budget, and quality standards due to poor supervision practices. Approaches such as quantitative and qualitative research and descriptive research types were used in this study. Questionnaires survey were issued to 104 respondents, with 11 representing clients, 22 representing consultants, and 71 representing contractors. There were 33 factors identified, which were then divided into seven groups for further analysis. It was discovered that the top-ranked factors that influence construction supervision practice are: supervisors' lack of skills and experience, incompleteness and consistency in the design, lack of appropriate decision making, location of the project, material and equipment costs, a lack of construction materials supply, and effect of weather conditions. The Relative Importance Index was calculated to determine whether or not the parties agreed on the factors and ranked them according to their importance. Most respondents suggested that supervisors should receive proper training, and comprehensive and detailed drawings should be provided on time. In addition, it was discovered that the top three essential group elements affecting supervision practice of the public building project are supervisory, design, and management-related aspects.

In both developing and industrialized countries, deviation from a planned time schedule is one of the most frequently encountered problems in construction investments. Various factors faced with during construction period prevent systematic flow of work, which causes time-based anomalies as a conclusion. Considering the vital importance of the construction industry on the macro-economic structure of a country, it is inevitable to be aware of considerable effect of the timely completion on the allocated project budget. In this study, causes of time extensions in the Turkish construction industry and levels of their importance were examined together. In total, 34 factors affecting project duration were taken into account. A questionnaire survey, including these factors, was then applied to 71 construction companies in Turkey, and the outcomes were evaluated by means of statistical analyses. According to the results, “design and material changes” was found to be the most predominant factor, followed by “delay of payments” and “cash flow problems”. In terms of importance levels of factor groups, financial factors were found to be the first group, while environmental factors were the least effective group. It should be also noted that managerial causes of time extensions are encountered in developed and developing countries, whereas financial causes are experienced in developing countries only.

Abstract In most work sites, it is a priority to keep the work going well and to avoid unforeseen incidents. Fluctuations in weather conditions are one of the factors affecting the continuity of work in construction projects. Indeed, for example, the temperature is important in concrete and asphalt works, and wind speed is important in lifting and high construction works. Therefore, taking the appropriate decision, starting and completing the work, is very important to maintain the quality of the project. This research aims to demonstrate the reliability of short-term decision-making through data taken from the weather site five days before the time to work. The data was collected for a month, five days before the intended day and on the same day, day and night, for different weather factors by weather location such as temperature, humidity, possibility of rain, Uv index, wind speed. By analyzing the data, it was found that there was little difference in those predictors of all the factors recorded. To conclude at the end of the study that it is possible to rely on the decision-making on the weather location in small and medium projects, but in large and sensitive projects, they need to rely on more accurate data than relying on weather location data.
