The subject of the article is a description of the operating principle of the new proposal of the selective circuit breaker, which is an extension of the existing selective devices. The solution proposed in the article allows one to increase the selectivity range of classic selective circuit breakers. In the case of networks with high values of short-circuit loop impedance, operating at reduced supply voltage, the proposed solution will not limit the short-circuit current too excessively as it is in the case of classic solutions. This advantage will allow for the correct reaction of the protections preceding them. The article presents the structure and analysis of the selection of parameters of the proposed solution. The results of simulation calculations have also been illustrated.

Abstract When a short-circuit fault occurs on the transmission lines of high voltage DC transmission system based on modular multilevel converters, the fault cannot be cleared by adjusting the converter control system, which results in longer recovery time. Aiming at the problem above, a fault self-clearing scheme based on the fault clearing module for the half-bridge converter station is proposed. Combined with the actual operating status of the flexible DC transmission project, centralized parameter models are utilized to analyze the fault self-clearing mechanism. Besides, the impact of the discharge branch on the fault clearing effect is studied in depth to provide a design consideration for the fault clearing module and improve the comprehensive benefits of the proposed scheme. PSCAD/EMTDC simulation results show that the introduction of the fault clearing module in the half-bridge converter station can effectively suppress the fault short-circuit current and shorten the fault clearing time. In addition, circuit breakers on both sides of the line do not need to be tripped, providing a reliable guarantee for the subsequent adaptive restart process.

Abstract The authors describe experimental and theoretical analyses of faults of power transformer winding. Faults were caused by mechanical effect of short-circuit currents. Measurements of transformer were carried out in high-voltage laboratory. Frequency and time diagnostic methods (method SFRA - Sweep Frequency Response Analysis, impact test) were used for the analyses. Coils of transformer windings were diagnosed by means of the SFRA method and the time impact test. The analyzed methods had a significant sensitivity to a relatively small deformation of coil. In the analysis a new technique for analyzing the effects of short-circuit currents is introduced. This technique is developed for high-voltage transformers (different types of power). The proposed analyses show that it is necessary to analyze the value of short-circuit current. Short-circuit current represents a danger for the operation of the power transformer. The proposed approach can be used for other types of transformers. Moreover, the presented techniques have a potential application for fault diagnosis of electrical equipment such as: transformers and electrical machines.

As one of the most applicable to high-voltage network superconducting fault current limiterSCFCL(saturated core superconducting fault current limiter) ,which use of core saturation properties can be achieved the current-limiting function without delay ,will be the most widely applied in the future,By analyzing the working principle of SCFCL,this paper use of PSCAD and finite element analysis software Ansoft to build the 500kV\/3150A grade SCFCL model and accurate calculation coil self-inductance and mutual inductance, the harmonic of each size and analyzed its Impedance characteristic on the different external parameters,The results show that SCFCL has a excellent performance for high voltage power network short-circuit current limitation, and provides important reference for design.
