The domain of User Experience (UX) involves studying, designing for and evaluating the experiences that people have through the use of a system. This use takes place in a specific context, which has an impact on, or contributes to, the UX. As enterprises make a focus on the customer integral to their strategies, they need to recognize that technology developments are changing the customer relationship. In today's world, a great number of interactions between financial services and their customers have moved to digital environments and as a result a user interface design's significance increases in shaping the digital, financial experience.Based on this increasing importance, this paper proposes the role of usability studies for return on investment, along with a case study carried out in Kuveyt Turk Participation Bank. It involves an extended user research of online bank services which resulted with new specifications to be applied in the new corporate online banking service.

In this paper we outline a relational approach to experience, which we have used to develop a practitioner-oriented framework for analysing user experience. The framework depicts experience as compositional, emotional, spatio-temporal, and sensual, and as intimately bound up with a number of processes that allow us to make sense of experience. It was developed and assessed as part of a participative action research project involving interested practitioners. We report how these practitioners used the framework, what aspects of experience they felt that it missed, and how useful they found it as a tool for evaluating Internet shopping experiences. A thematic content analysis of participants’ reflections on their use of the framework to evaluate Internet shopping experiences revealed some strengths and some weaknesses. For example, certain features of the framework led participants to reflect on aspects of experience that they might not otherwise have considered e.g. the central role of anticipation in experience. The framework also captured aspects of experience that relate to both the sequential structure of the activity and its subjective aspects. However it seemed to miss out on the intensity of some experiences and participants sometimes found it difficult to distinguish between some of the sense making processes, for example, interpreting and reflecting. These results have helped to refine our approach to deploying the framework and have inspired an ongoing programme of research on experience-centered design.

The article presents the results of the evaluation of the relationship between the way of shaping public space related to ensuring sustainable mobility in the city and the experiences of users influencing the perceptible quality of life. The assessment was carried out for one of the medium-sized cities, which was included in the list of cities threatened with exclusion. The subject of the evaluation was the city multimodal centreorganised around the railway station in Nysa. The aim of the research was to identify a selected, small group of key challenges and recommendations aimed at improving user experience in using a multimodal centre in the city. The article highlights the role of service infrastructure (stops, stations, transfer centres) in the ecosystem of sustainable urban mobility. Each element of this ecosystem (designed in accordance with the idea of universal design) can have a significant impact on the improvement of the perceptible (declared) quality of life in the city, if the applied solutions positively influence the user’s experience (including the sense of comfort and care). The authors focused on the current state of play in order to identify the key areas of intervention needed to improve the user experience in using the multimodal centre in a small and medium sized city. Attention was paid not only to the aspect of infrastructure accessibility, but also to the relations between urban, architectural and engineering solutions in the context of their impact on the assessment of the multimodal centre in terms of its usefulness in three dimensions: functional, rational and perceptible. The summary outlines the process of achieving from the basic solution standard to interoperability. This knowledge will allow better decision making in the planning of user-oriented projects in the city. This may be of particular importance when the conscious objective of the action is to achieve the level of interoperability expected by users of facilities such as, inter alia, a multimodal centre, which is one element of an urban public space with a significant impact on the quality of life of the citizen. This article considers the role of textual studies in a digital world and reviews the work of a particular group of digital textual scholars. Specifically, the article examines the work of the Textual Studies team at the Implementing New Knowledge Environments project (INKE.ca), a group of digital textual scholars working on user experience, interface design, and information management with the goal of better understanding how reading is changing in the context of digital media.  INKE’s work rethinks what the book can become and aims to generate prototypes to be shared on an open-source basis with the public.

This article describes a field study investigating the impact on user experience of personalisation of content provided on a mobile device. The target population was Chinese spectators and the application was large sports events. A field-based experiment showed that provision of personalised content significantly enhanced the user experience for the spectator. Design implications are discussed, with general support for countermeasures designed to overcome recognised limitations of adaptive systems. The study also highlights the need for culturally sensitive methods for requirements capture, design, and data collection during experimentation.
