AbstractThis paper presents the results of investigations into the microstructure and magnetic properties of Fe86Zr7Nb1Cu1B5, Fe82Zr7Nb2Cu1B8and Fe81Pt5Zr7Nb1Cu1B5alloys. The alloys were investigated in their as-quenched state, in the form of thin ribbons with approximate dimensions as follows: width 3 mm and thickness 20 μm.The investigations were performed utilizing Mössbauer spectrometry and X-ray diffractometry. Also, an evaluation of the low-field magnetic susceptibility and measurements of the magnetization versus temperature and magnetizing field were performed.

Abstract In this paper, the results of investigations are presented, into the microstructure and magnetic properties of the following amorphous alloys in the as-quenched state: Fe82Zr7Nb2Cu1B8 and Fe86Zr4Y3Nb1Cu1B5. The studied material was produced in the form of thin ribbons of 3 mm width and 20 μm thickness. The structure and microstructure of the samples have been investigated by means of Mössbauer spectrometry and X-ray diffractometry. In addition, the magnetic properties of these materials have been determined, i.e. the low-field magnetic susceptibility, and the magnetisation as a function of temperature and magnetising field. On the basis of the performed investigations, it has been found that a minor change in the quantities of elements favouring amorphisation, such as: Zr and Y, has an influence on the value of the Curie temperature and the magnetic properties of the resulting alloys. It should be noticed that the changes, introduced in the chemical composition of the alloys, don’t change the combined volume of these elements, i.e. Zr7 and Zr4Y3.

The crystallization and optimization of magnetic properties effects in FeXSiB (X=Cu, V, Co, Zr, Nb) amorphous alloys were studied by applying X-ray diffraction methods, high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), resistometric and magnetic measurements. The temperatures of the first and the second stage of crystallization, the 1h optimization annealing temperature and the Curie temperature were determined for different amorphous alloys. Activation energies of crystallization process were obtained by applying the Kissinger method. The influence of alloy additions on optimization effect and crystallization processes was carefully examined.

The glass forming ability and magnetic properties were investigated for adding neodymium to the Fe71-xNb4B25Ndx (x=0, 3, 5, 7,10) alloys prepared by copper suction casting. It was found that proper neodymium (x=5~10 at.%) could improve glass forming ability of Fe-Nb-B alloys effectively. Bulk amorphous Fe66Nd5B25Nb4 and Fe64Nd7B25Nb4 samples were obtained and presented high thermal stability and good soft magnetic properties. The value of activation energy of the first crystallization peak for the bulk amorphous alloy Fe64Nd7B25Nb4 is 683 kJ/mol.

Fe-Si alloys have excellent soft magnetic properties, specially around 12 at% Si. However, its industrial application is limited because of the lack of ductility, which causes cracking during rolling operations for the fabrication of thin sheets. The reason of the brittleness of the high silicon alloys is a disorder/order reaction at low temperatures. The aim of this work is to analyze the effect of the addition of Aluminum on the crystalline structure of Fe-Si alloys. Samples with a chemical composition of Fe88Si12 and Fe87Si12Al1 (at%) were prepared by Spray Forming. The structure was studied by means of X-ray diffraction and Mössbauer Spectroscopy. The presence of the DO3 and α- Fe phases were observed
