Abstract Seats in conventional sprocket drums are symmetrical. Due to the set general direction of sprocket drum revolutions resulting from the direction of rock transport, the wear of the seat bottoms and teeth flanks may be reduced by introducing the asymmetry of the profile of the sprocket drum seats. The proposed modification of sprocket drum seats’ profile consists of inclining the seat bottom towards the expected direction of the basic drum revolutions. The work compares the loads on the seats and teeth of a conventional drum with its profile conforming to the standard to a modified drum with an asymmetric profile of seats. For the general direction of sprocket drum revolutions, the maximum values of all forces are higher for a standard drum than for a modified drum. The profile asymmetry substantially shortens the friction path of the horizontal link front torus on the seat bottom and relative total friction work on the seat bottom and lessens the occurrence probability of the slide of the horizontal link rear torus on the tooth flank. The modification of the profile causes also the asymmetric wear of link joints. The total relative friction work is considerably reduced in the front joint as compared to a conventional drum, and the total relative friction work in the rear joint is increasing at the same time.

Abstract The significant abrasive wear of sprocket drum teeth and seats bottoms is observed during the exploitation of longwall scraper conveyors. For this reason, it is important to determine friction work in sliding conditions of the horizontal link on the tooth seat bottom and on the tooth flank and friction work in the joint of links in the context of such nodes’ abrasive wear. The different construction variants of sprocket drums can be compared by determining friction work in the sliding positions of the horizontal link on the drum. The determination of the losses of the power transmitted is a requisite condition in such situation for determining the efficiency values of chain meshing. The friction work of the friction couple of a sprocket drum - link chain consists of friction work of the horizontal link in the places where it contacts with the seat bottom Ag and the tooth flank Af and friction work in the joints of a horizontal link in the contact place with vertical links: in the front joint Ap and the rear joint At. The article presents dependencies enabling to determine the value of such work for specific geometric relations between the chain and the drum and different friction conditions. The curves of relative friction work and the values of total friction work on the seat bottom, on the tooth flank and in a front and rear joint of links are presented for examples of friction conditions.

A method for solving the problem of classifying short-text messages in the form of sentences of customers uttered in talking via the telephone line of organizations is considered. To solve this problem, a classifier was developed, which is based on using a combination of two methods: a description of the subject area in the form of a hierarchy of entities and plausible reasoning based on the case-based reasoning approach, which is actively used in artificial intelligence systems. In solving various problems of artificial intelligence-based analysis of data, these methods have shown a high degree of efficiency, scalability, and independence from data structure. As part of using the case-based reasoning approach in the classifier, it is proposed to modify the TF-IDF (Term Frequency - Inverse Document Frequency) measure of assessing the text content taking into account known information about the distribution of documents by topics. The proposed modification makes it possible to improve the classification quality in comparison with classical measures, since it takes into account the information about the distribution of words not only in a separate document or topic, but in the entire database of cases. Experimental results are presented that confirm the effectiveness of the proposed metric and the developed classifier as applied to classification of customer sentences and providing them with the necessary information depending on the classification result. The developed text classification service prototype is used as part of the voice interaction module with the user in the objective of robotizing the telephone call routing system and making a shift from interaction between the user and system by means of buttons to their interaction through voice.

Our objective is to generalize the Weaver-Astumian (WA) and Kaune (KA) models of thermal noise limit to the case ofcellular membrane resistivity asymmetry. The asymmetry of resistivity causes different effects in the two models. In the KAmodel, asymmetry decreases the characteristic field strength of the thermal limit over and increases it below the breakingfrequency (10  m), while asymmetry decreases the spectral field strength of the thermal noise limit at all frequencies. We show that asymmetry does not change the character of the models, showing the absence of thermal noise limit at highand low frequencies in WA and KA models, respectively.

We present a computational analysis of the asymmetry in reaction center models of photosystem I, photosystem II, and bacteria from Synechococcus elongatus, Thermococcus vulcanus, and Rhodobacter sphaeroides, respectively. The recently developed FDE-diab methodology [J. Chem. Phys., 148 (2018), 214104] allowed us to effectively avoid the spin-density overdelocalization error characteristic for standard Kohn–Sham Density Functional Theory and to reliably calculate spin-density distributions and electronic couplings for a number of molecular systems ranging from dimeric models in vacuum to large protein including up to about 2000 atoms. The calculated spin densities showed a good agreement with available experimental results and were used to validate reaction center models reported in the literature. We demonstrated that the applied theoretical approach is very sensitive to changes in molecular structures and relative orientation of molecules. This makes FDE-diab a valuable tool for electronic structure calculations of large photosynthetic models effectively complementing the existing experimental techniques.

Relevance. The narrowing of the maxilla is one of the most common pathologies in orthodontics. Recent studies show that the narrowing is always asymmetric which is connected to the rotation of the maxilla. To choose the treatment correctly one need a calculation that reveals the asymmetry, which is impossible with using standard indexes.Purpose – to compare efficiency of indexes of Pont and Korkhause with the Kernott's method in patients with narrowing of the maxilla.Materials and methods. The study involved 35 children aged from 8 to 12 years old undergoing dental treatment in the University Children's Clinical Hospital of the First Moscow State Medical University with no comorbidities. For every patient a gypsum model was prepared and after that to carry out the biometrical calculation. In this study two indexes were used: Pont's index and Korkhause's; using this standard analysis the narrowing of the maxilla was revealed. After using Pont's Index and Korkhaus analysis all the models were calculated by the method of Kernott with Kernott's dynamic pentagon.Results. As a result of the analysis of the control diagnostic models a narrowing of the maxilla in 69% of cases (n = 24) was revealed in all cases, the deviation of the size of the dentition was asymmetric. Thus, 65% of the surveyed models showed a narrowing on the right. This narrowing was of a different severity and averaged 15 control models.Conclusions. This shows that for the biometrics of diagnostic models it is necessary to use methods that allow to estimate the width of the dentition rows on the left and on the right separately. To correct the asymmetric narrowing of the dentition, it is preferable to use non-classical expanding devices that act equally on the left and right sides separetly.

The article considers the reasons for the formation of asymmetry in the subjects of the Russian Federation. The research is focused on the relations between the Russian Federation and its subjects during the formation of the modern Russian state. This period, according to the author, covers the period from the introduction of the “perestroika” policy in the USSR to the beginning of the 2000s. The author studies the works of domestic and foreign experts on the stated issues. The author believes that the asymmetry of the subjects of the Russian Federation is based on an uneven distribution of economic benefits. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that the author’s conclusions are a synthesis of not only formal legal, but also applied and analytical economic research.
