AbstractA simple and environmentally benign procedure for the bromination of substituted α,β-unsaturated ketones in good yield has been described using ammonium bromide as a brominating agent and ceric ammonium nitrate (CAN) as a single-electron oxidant to afford α,β-dibromoketones. The efficient synthesis of thiazolo pyridine 2-amine(3) by reaction of 2-amino pyridine with ammonium thiocyanate(2). The reaction carried out in presence of ceric ammonium nitrate and Dimethyl Sulphoxide as a solvent. The aromatic aldehyde reacts with synthesized compound thiazolo pyridin-2-amine (3) by using catalytic amount of Ni (NO3)2 .6H2O at room temperature. Advantages of this protocol are its very good yields.

: An expeditious and operationally simple reaction between 3-hydrazonobutan-2-one oxime and different substituted benzaldehydes in presence of silica afforded an unexpected product, biacetyl bis-hydrazone Schiff bases in good yield on grinding in a mortar at room temperature, instead of expected product 3-(aryl)methylenehydrazonobutan-2-one oxime. Mild reaction conditions involving recyclable mineral support silica, environmentally benign and good yield in short reaction time are remarkable advantages of this protocol. Products were characterized by IR, NMR (1H and 13C) and elemental analyses.

An efficient multicomponent approach has been developed in the environmentally green aqueous medium for synthesis of substituted polyfunctionalized pyrazoles. The simple and readily available aldehydes, malononitrile and phenylhydrazines substrates afforded polysubstituted imidazoles (15 examples) up to 96 % yield. The polyethylene glycol is playing the dual role of solvent and promoter with water in this reaction catalyzed by ceric ammonium nitrate.
