Abstract Pulsed power network is proposed for reliable and low loss electrical power distribution among various type of power sources and consumers. The proposed scheme is a derivative of power packet network so far investigated that has affinity with dispersion type power sources and has manageability of energy coloring in the process of power distribution. In addition to these advantages, the proposed scheme has system reliability and low loss property because of its intelligent operation performed by individual nodes and direct relaying by power routers. In the proposed scheme, power transmission is decomposed into a series of electrical pulses placed at specified power slots in continuous time frames that are synchronized over the network. The power slots are pre-reserved based on information exchanges among neighboring nodes following inherent algorithm of the proposed scheme. Because of this power slots reservation based on decentralized intelligence, power pulses are directly transmitted from various power sources to consumers with the least power dissipation even though a partial failure occurs in the network. The network operations with the proposed scheme is simulated to confirm the algorithms for the power slots reservation and to evaluate the power network capacity.

Along with the increasing use of cables in power grid and the increasing ration of distributed power sources’ synchronization, such as small hydropower’s synchronization, increasing the reactive power transmission on the line, make it difficult to achieve the balance of reactive hierarchical partition. Take a certain region’s power grid for actual examples, after the installation of magnetic control reactor (MCR), using immune genetic algorithm (IGA) to coordinate the capacity of magnetic control reactor and the existing reactive power resources, the results show that the magnetic control reactor does much good to absorb the system’s excessive reactive power and limit the voltage’s increasing.

Based on the requirements of The Twelfth Five Years development planning of State Grid and the development of electrical fitting, State Grid will enlarge the change of rural power network and power distribution market, which will make the coverage of rural power network and power distribution to be larger so that reducing the loss of the power transmission line will become an important task research. To reduce or replace the high energy consumption steel fittings and the high price aluminum fittings, this article make feasibility analyses for a new material used in electrical fittings to protect the environment and economy energy source, by analyzing the performance and test property of the new material.

AbstractThe article addresses in a complex way the problem of cooperation between the on-board electric power sources of an aircraft with its on-board electric network. The authors paid special attention to conditions related to correct switching of the on-board electric power sources. Structural protection of the electric power sources against harmful impact of loads, and of the loads against incorrectly operating sources, as well as certain methods to counteract such phenomena, are discussed. Exploring these relations will enable the user to undertake actions which can reduce the failure rate of the on-board electrical power network, and ensure power supply to the electrical loads under all flight conditions. Their correct operation determines correct operation of the on-board electrical power network. The authors tried to discuss all the problems in the most universal way possible, so the deliberations presented here could be helpful in analyzing defects in various aircrafts.

Atmospheric discharges are indispensable for the electrical sector due to their responsibility on the shutdown of the power lines, what may trigger a sequence of events that led the interconnected electrical system to collapse. The aim of this case study is to demonstrate the development of a viable methodology in order to reduce the resistance values of the grounding system of the power lines, reducing shutdown occurrences due to returning disruptive discharges, or backflashover, mitigating the damages caused to the electrical system and to society, in order to improve the quality of the electrical power distribution. Considering the factors of implementation costs, technical environmental viability, the encompassment of this solution for other structures lines, and the reduction of the implementation percentage, it was concluded that the most adequate solution to implement a more robust grounding system in the transmission power lines is the solution 03 tested on the tower 585, with a reduction of 66,98%.

This paper proposes a method of load shedding in a microgrid system operated in an Island Mode, which is disconnected with the main power grid and balanced loss of the electrical power. This proposed method calculates the minimum value of the shed power with reference to renewable energy sources such as wind power generator, solar energy and the ability to control the frequency of the generator to restore the frequency to the allowable range and reduce the amount of load that needs to be shed. Computing the load importance factor (LIF) using AHP algorithm supports to determine the order of which load to be shed. The damaged outcome of load shedding, thus, will be noticeably reduced. The experimental results of this proposed method is demonstrated by simulating on IEEE 16-Bus microgrid system with six power sources.
