Abstract Any material when utilized for a required period of time and segment, the leftover residues of those materials are known as waste. Enormous waste is generated during such wear and tear process of materials depending on the usage and functions in a routine lifestyle. Those generated waste when overloaded beyond the capacity of natural recycling processes, would influence the environment and human health. Hence, the waste generated from used materials should be managed according to the environmental impact. Even though wastes are also sometimes rich in organic compounds, nutrients, and energy resources, they are not experimented and managed appropriately. Recently, different feasible techniques are invented and followed to recover and reuse the efficient resources that can create and support sustainable livelihood by creating green economy effects by reducing waste. In this chapter, the emphasis has been given to providing an overview of recent advancements on bio-based waste management and product recoveries such as microbes mediated approaches, biorefineries for waste valorization, and bioenergy from industrial waste.

Waste management in Romania has become a problem with a very high environmental impact, especially in Maramureş County where it has overlapped with the pollution of mining waste. The article highlights the current context in which the population does not accept the construction of landfills, the authorities are not able to provide proof of competence, reaching a vicious cycle in which everyone loses. In this context, we consider that the substratum of the problem is the ignorance that manifests itself in the form of hypocrisy, most of those involved are "ecological", but in reality the environmental impact of irresponsible waste management is very serious.

The study, entitled "The Effect of Community Relations conducted by the management of PT Ecco Indonesia toward Tenggulunan community’s Understanding on Industrial Waste Management" aims to determine the effect of community relations conducted by the management of PT Ecco Indonesia toward the Understanding of people living in the vicinity of the company on industrial waste generated. This quantitative study used a sample of 95 respondents. The research data were then analyzed using simple linear regression analysis. The results show that 1) the community relations was done well enough by the management of PT Ecco Indonesia (67.3%), 2) the public's understanding on industrial waste of PT Ecco Indonesia is also quite good (68.8%), 3) there is an effect of community relations of management of PT Ecco Indonesia toward the understanding of people living in Tenggulunan on industrial waste management, 4) the accepted hypothesis shows that that there is a significant relationship between community relations done by the management of PT Ecco Indonesia with public awareness about waste management industry amounted to 81,5%.

Waste management in Tunisia is currently one of the priorities of environmental protection and is one of the main pillars of sustainable development. Thus, Tunisia has opted for a comprehensive and progressive policy of environmental protection in order to manage with the current state of the object affected by the strong economic growth and the environment rapid urban expansion in recent years. The area of waste management has received attention currently given the quantity produced changes in the multiplicity of forms and aspects of pollution caused by waste, and limited resources used in the field of solid waste management. During this, our research has been devoted to the study of the phenomenon of industrial waste management by recycling in Tunisia. We employ a model based on a time series analysis model for a period of 17 years from 2000 to 2016. Additionally, we estimate the ability to manage industrial waste recycling based on variables related to the business of recycling industrial waste, variables related to the intervention of Tunisia policy in the management of industrial waste recycling and macroeconomic indicators. From the empirical findings, we conclude that the macro-economic indicators have a negative impact on the dependent variable. The variables related to the intervention of Tunisia policy in industrial waste management through recycling have a positive impact and a negative impact depending on the nature of the waste. And finally, the variable relative to the activity of recycling industrial waste TRDI has a positive impact and DIG variable has a negative impact.

The objective of this paper is to present an evaluation method that can aid decision to prioritize and select industrial waste management method. An Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) decision structure approaches to measure the relative desirability of disposal alternatives using value judgments as the input of the various stakeholders. The novel of this paper is a flexible analytical program that enables decision makers to find the best possible industrial waste management solution to complex problems by breaking down a problem into a systematic hierarchy structure among the various levels and attributes. The process of the evaluation method has been started from analyzing various factors which are used for designs the decision making structure. It is included with necessary data for consideration of management alternatives design that comprised of the technology, economics, environment, and also related regulations. The benefits of this method therefore may not only aid in selecting the best alternative but also help decision makers to understand why an alternative is preferred over the other options. A case study in Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), recommendations, limitations, and further research are also presented.
