AbstractBased on the Riccati equation expansion method, 11 kinds of variable separation solutions with different forms of (2+1)-dimensional modified Korteweg–de Vries equation are obtained. The following two remarks on the Riccati equation expansion method for variable separation are made: (i) a remark on the equivalence of different solutions constructed by the Riccati equation expansion method. From analysis, we find that these seemly independent solutions with different forms actually depend on each other, and they can transform from one to another via some relations. We should avoid arbitrarily asserting so-called “new” solutions; (ii) a remark on the construction of localised excitation based on variable separation solutions. For two or multi-component systems, we must be careful with excitation structures constructed by all components for the same model lest the appearance of some un-physical structures. We hope that these results are helpful to deeply study exact solutions of nonlinear models in physical, engineering and biophysical contexts.

This paper gives an analytical study of dynamic behavior of the exact solutions of nonlinear Korteweg–de Vries equation with space–time local fractional derivatives. By using the improved [Formula: see text]-expansion method, the explicit traveling wave solutions including periodic solutions, dark soliton solutions, soliton solutions and soliton-like solutions, are obtained for the first time. They can better help us further understand the physical phenomena and provide a strong basis. Meanwhile, some solutions are presented through 3D-graphs.

We consider the Wick-type stochastic Schamel-Korteweg-de Vries equation with variable coefficients in this paper. With the aid of symbolic computation and Hermite transformation, by employing the (G′/G,1/G)-expansion method, we derive the new exact travelling wave solutions, which include hyperbolic and trigonometric solutions for the considered equations.

One of the phenomenon in marine science that is often encountered is the phenomenon of water waves. Waves that occur below the surface of seawater are called internal waves. One of the mathematical models that can represent solitary internal waves is the modified Korteweg-de Vries (mKdV) equation. Many methods can be used to construct the solution of the mKdV wave equation, one of which is the extended F-expansion method. The purpose of this study is to determine the solution of the mKdV wave equation using the extended F-expansion method. The result of solving the mKdV wave equation is the exact solutions. The exact solutions of the mKdV wave equation are expressed in the Jacobi elliptic functions, trigonometric functions, and hyperbolic functions. From this research, it is expected to be able to add insight and knowledge about the implementation of the innovative methods for solving wave equations.

The purpose of this article is to present an analytical method, namely the improved F -expansion method combined with the Riccati equation, for finding exact solutions of nonlinear evolution equations. The present method is capable of calculating all branches of solutions simultaneously, even if multiple solutions are very close and thus difficult to distinguish with numerical techniques. To verify the computational efficiency, we consider the modified Benjamin–Bona–Mahony equation and the modified Korteweg-de Vries equation. Our results reveal that the method is a very effective and straightforward way of formulating the exact travelling wave solutions of nonlinear wave equations arising in mathematical physics and engineering.
