A porous coordination polymer, {[Eu(dpdo)4(H2O)3]H(SiMo12O40)(dpdo)0.5(CH3CN)0.5(H2O)4}n (1), (where dpdo is 4,4′-bipyridine-N,N′-dioxide) templated by double-Keggin-type polyanions has been synthesized through the self-assembly of Eu(III) ions and dpdo in acetonitrile/water solution and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectra and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The X-ray structure analysis reveals that compound 1 exhibits a 3D non-interwoven framework with large cavities housing centro-symmetrically related shoulder-by-shoulder double-Keggin anions as guests. The result of a thermogravimetric analysis suggests that the metal-organic framework has high thermal stability.

The coordination polymer [Cu3(tci)2(phen)2] n (H3tci = 1,3,5-tris(2-carboxyethyl)isocyanurate; phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) has been synthesised. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies have shown that the polymer displays a 2-D metal–organic framework based on linear trinuclear copper cluster units, and its magnetic properties indicate antiferromagnetic interactions.

A novel one-dimensional metal-organic coordination polymer, [Zn (NH3)2(BDC)]n (BDC=1,4-benzenedicaboxylate), has been synthesized by solvent evaporation method through self-assembly of Zn (II) salts with terephthalic acid ligand in ammonia aqueous solution. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis indicated that each Zn (II) was coordinated by two nitrogen donors from two NH3 and two oxygen counter donors from terephthalic acid ligand. The adjacent zigzag chains are arranged in a parallel fashion and linked by interchain hydrogen bonding interaction and π-π stacking interactions into higher-dimensional framework. The compound has also been characterized by CHN elemental analyses, Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) analysis, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra, Thermalgravimetric-differential scanning calorimetric (TG-DSC) and Solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), etc. Results showed that the framework of compound was stable at the temperature up to 246°C. The desolvated product [Zn (BDC)]n, which was obtained by removal of molecular NH3 from [Zn (NH3)2(BDC)]n, can be transferred to the different skeleton structures through coordinating different small hydrogen-bond-forming molecules.

A new copper(I) pyrazine-bridged coordination polymer [Cu2(pyz)3(NO3)2]·2DMF] (pyz = pyrazine) (1) has been synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, TG/DTG, DSC and single crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. The X-ray crystallographic result reveals a two-dimensional network structure containing hexagonal pores. Thermal analysis of compound 1 reveals it is stable to 380 °C, and gas sorption studies showed that it adsorbs 1.04 wt% hydrogen at 1 atm and 77 K. Compound 1 crystallizes in a triclinic system, space group P-1 (no. 2), a = 7.9550(2) Å, b = 7.9810(2) Å, c = 11.0660(3) Å, α = 76.328(1)°, β = 71.115(1)°, γ = 84.577(1)°, V = 645.79(3) Å3, Z = 2, T = 150(2) K, μ(MoKα) = 1.709 mm-1, Dcalc = 1.639 g/cm3, 11111 reflections measured (7° ≤ 2Θ ≤ 54.96°), 2951 unique (Rint = 0.0539) which were used in all calculations. The final R1 was 0.0346 (>2σ(I)) and wR2 was 0.0727 (all data).

The compound [Cd(4,4'-bpy)2(H2O)2](ClO4)2·(L)2 was obtained by the reaction of Cd(ClO4)2, bis(1-pyrazinylethylidene)hydrazine (L) and 4,4'-bipyridine in aqueous MeOH. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction has revealed its two-dimensional metal-organic framework. The 2-D layers superpose on each other, giving a channel structure. The square planar grids consist of two pairs of shared edges with Cd(II) ion and a 4,4'-bipyridine molecule each vertex and side, respectively. The square cavity has a dimension of 11.817 × 11.781 Å. Two guest molecules of bis(1-pyrazinylethylidene)hydrazine are clathrated in every hydrophobic host cavity, being further stabilized by π-π stacking and hydrogen bonding. The results suggest that the hydrazine molecules present in the network serve as structure-directing templates in the formation of crystal structures.

AbstractA new Cu(II) metal-organic framework, [Cu(L)(OBA)·H2O]n (1) [H2OBA = 4,4′-oxybis(benzoic acid), L = 3,5-di(1H-benzimidazol-1-yl)pyridine] was hydrothermally synthesized and characterized through IR spectroscopy, elemental and thermal analysis and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Complex 1 is a four-connected uni-nodal 2D net with a (44·62) topology which shows an emission centered at λ ∼393 nm upon excitation at λ = 245 nm. Moreover, complex 1 possesses high photocatalytic activities for the decomposition of Rhodamine B (RhB) under UV light irradiation.

AbstractA new metal-organic framework, [Pb(hmpcaH)2]n (1), has been hydrothermally synthesized from Pb(OAc)2 · 3H2O and 2-hydroxy-6-methylpyridine-4-carboxylic acid (hmpcaH2; 2), and characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental and thermogravimetric analysis, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. In complex 1, each hmpcaH− ligand represents a three-connected node to combine with the hexacoordinated Pb(II) ions, generating a 3D binodal (3,6)-connected ant network. The crystal structure of 2 was determined. The solid-state fluorescence properties of 1 and 2 were investigated.
