AbstractAn effective method based on choline chloride (ChCl)-oxalic acid (Ox) deep eutectic solvent was proposed for the synthesis of 4-azaphenanthrene-3,10-dione, 1,8-dioxo-octahydroxanthene and tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran derivatives. The eutectic mixture worked as both the solvent and acidic catalyst for conversion. The impacts of different variables, including the composition and volume of ChCl-Ox, and temperature, on reaction yield were studied for optimization. The crucial advantages of this process are simplicity of the experimental procedure, high yields, short reaction times, high recyclability, and the use of safe and inexpensive components.

Synthesis of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO) which was found to be effective catalyst for Friedel-Crafts benzoylation reaction in the presence of deep eutectic solvent (DES). The method is one of the most important intermediates for preparing fine chemicals in the field of pharmaceuticals, which is a tool for organic syntheses of aromatic ketones. ZnO precursor was prepared from Zn(CH3COO)2.2H2O and H2C2O4.2H2O, ZnO nanoparticles were characterized by using X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The benzoylation of aromatic compounds and benzoyl chloride using nanoparticles ZnO/ [CholineCl][Urea]2, under microwave irradiation afforded the desired products in high yields and short reaction times. The catalyst/solvent could be recycled several times without loss of efficient catalytic activity.

An efficient and facile synthesis of substituted pyrimidine derivatives through Biginelli type reaction was achieved in high yields via one-pot reaction of aromatic aldehydes, active methylene compounds and urea or thiourea in the presence of choline chloride- urea mixture as a deep eutectic solvent or cerium (IV) ammonium nitrate (CAN) as a catalyst at different conditions. The reaction was carried out using different ratio of CAN in different solvents to determine the optimum conditions. In addition, 2-mercapto-6-oxo- 4-(thiophen-2-yl)-1,6-dihydropyrimidine-5-carbonitrile was employed in the synthesis of pyrimidinylhydrazide and its corresponding hydrazone. The structural formula of all derivatives was confirmed and characterized by their elemental analyses and spectral data (IR, MS, 1H NMR, 13C NMR).

The synthesis of α-benzylamino pyrones is described involving the reaction of 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-2 H-pyran-2-one with aromatic aldehydes and secondary amines in the presence of oxalic acid and in aqueous media. The salient features of this protocol are aerobic conditions, short reaction times, milder reaction conditions without additives and high yields.

A green and highly efficient synthesis of some new ?-amido-aroyl carbonyl derivatives has been achieved through a one-pot three-component reaction of dimedone/barbituric acid derivatives, arylglyoxals, and amides in choline chloride/urea as a deep eutectic solvent (DES). The use of biode-gradable materials, short reaction time and high yields of products introduced this protocol as an efficient environmentally friendly method. The DES could be easily recovered and reused about four times with satisfied catalytic activity.

Abstract A highly efficient and green protocol for the synthesis of pyrimido[4,5-b]quinolines has been described. The one-pot multicomponent reaction of dimedone with arylaldehydes and 6-amino-1,3-dimethyluracil in the presence of N,N-diethyl-N-sulfoethanaminium chloride ([Et3N–SO3H][Cl]) as an ionic liquid (IL) catalyst under solvent-free conditions afforded the mentioned compounds in high yields and short reaction times. Our protocol is superior to many of the reported protocols in terms of two or more of these factors: the reaction times, yields, conditions (solvent-free versus usage of organic solvents), temperature and catalyst amount.

: A green and efficient protocol was developed for the one-pot three-component synthesis of novel 2-(4-hydroxy-2-oxo-2H-chromen-3-yl)-2-(arylamino)-1H-indene-1,3(2H)-dione derivatives by the reaction of 4-hydroxycoumarin, ninhydrin and aromatic amines in the presence of guanidine hydrochloride as an organocatalyst under solvent-free conditions. The present approach offers several advantages such as low cost, simple work-up, short reaction times, chromatography-free purification, high yields and greener conditions.

This study aimed to resolve the issue of the lack of detailed understanding of the effect of initial lignin content in hardwood kraft pulps on pulp delignification by deep eutectic solvents. The authors used Kappa number of the concerned pulp, intrinsic viscosity, and selectivity and efficiency of delignification as the parameters of the effect. The pulp (50 g oven dry pulp) was treated with four different DESs systems based on choline chloride with lactic acid (1:9), oxalic acid (1:1), malic acid (1:1), and system alanine:lactic acid (1:9); the results were compared to those reached by oxygen delignification. The results showed that the pulp with a higher initial lignin content had a greater fraction of easily removed lignin fragments.

Abstract In present study, we proposed the application of a deep eutectic solvent (DES) made up of choline chloride (ChCl) and oxalic acid (Ox) for the dissolution of different edible mushroom samples for the determination of selenium (Se) and arsenic (As) ions. Therefore, an innovative, green, novel, and inexpensive method based on ChCl–Ox as the DES was developed for the determination of Se and As ions in mushroom species by graphite furnace-atomic absorption spectrometry. The important analytical parameters were also optimized. The LODs for Se and As ions were found to be 0.32 and 0.50 µg/L, respectively. The LOQs for Se and As ions were found to be 1.06 and 1.65 µg/L, respectively. The RSD was observed to be less than 5% for both analyte ions. The accuracy of the developed method was confirmed by analyzing mushroom powder Certified Reference Material CS-M-3 (Boletus edulis). The developed technique was effectively useful for the determination of Se and As ions in different species of mushroom samples from Turkey.

A green and efficient method for preparing novel heterocyclic systems is established through the reaction of differently substituted benzaldehydes, barbituric acid and 4-amino-2H-chromene-2-one under solvent-free conditions. This method affords 6H-chromeno[3’,4’:5,6] pyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine-trione derivatives in high yields and short reaction times.
