São Luís, palco de significativa produção literária, sobretudo no século XIX, é a cidade natal de Maria Firmina dos Reis, Arthur Azevedo, Aluísio Azevedo, Graça Aranha, Odylo Costa, filho, dentre outros, sendo também o local de nascimento daquele que se destacou na poesia moderna: Ferreira Gullar. A obra gullariana mais emblemática é Poema Sujo, em que traduz, em versos, seu eu-lírico no exílio. Este artigo propõe estabelecer possíveis relações entre a fotografia e a literatura, tendo como eixo de análise a relação da memória com três conjuntos de fotografias da série Visões de um poema sujo, de autoria do artista maranhense Márcio Vasconcelos, inspirada na poesia de Gullar. Considerando a cidade de São Luís como arrimo entre as duas obras, utiliza-se como base teórica o conceito de memória dos autores Michael Pollak e Maurice Halbwachs, com vistas à observação de tais relações. A metodologia empregada é o estudo do caso e o procedimento de análise de dados parte do entendimento desses conceitos de memória, em diálogo com um ponto de vista semiótico na configuração de Charles Sanders Peirce, no intuito de uma leitura da composição imagética enquanto linguagem visual. Como resultado há afastamentos e aproximações entre os dois suportes artísticos (a palavra escrita e a imagem fotográfica), razão pela qual a fotografia pode ser atravessada, por intermédio do olhar fotográfico. Considera-se, portanto, que a imagem propõe ao espectador um jogo de recepção e de tradução, sendo esse um processo no qual são acionados o código verbal (texto de partida) para envolvê-lo no processo tradutório e apontar para o visual (texto de chegada), caminho aberto às subjetividades.Palavras-chave: Poema sujo; fotografia; memória; São Luís.

Even though the philosophy of common sense is not justifi able as such, the assump- tion upon which it rests, namely that there are things which we are not in position to doubt is correct. The reason why Thomas Reid was unable to bring this assumption out in a justifi able manner is that his views, both on knowledge and nature, are to be considered dogmatic. American pragmatists such as Charles Sanders Peirce and John Dewey on the other hand, may be seen as offering us a ‘critical’ and post-Darwinian philosophy of common sense.

'Nightmare' is the title of a video clip belonging to a singer and singer called Halsey, in which the video clip is explained about the figure of women who struggle against patriarchal culture which has been a barrier wall for women to get their rights, welfare and the equality needed they get. This research uses descriptive qualitative research methods. Data collection techniques are done through documentation, observation and study of literature. Then, analyzed using Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotics technique. The results of this study show the fact that signs, symbols or messages representing feminism in the video, 'Nightmare' clips are presented through scenes that present women's actions in opposing domination over men and sarcastic sentences contained in the lyrics of the song to discuss with patriarchy. Youtube as one of the social media platforms where the 'Nightmare' video clip is uploaded is very effective for mass communication and for conveying the message contained in the video clip to the viewing public.‘Nightmare’ adalah judul video klip milik musisi sekaligus penyanyi yang bernama Halsey, dimana pada Video klipnya tersebut menceritakan tentang figur perempuan-perempuan yang berusaha melawan budaya patriarki yang selama ini telah menjadi dinding penghalang bagi perempuan untuk mendapatkan hak-haknya, keadilan dan kesetaraan yang seharusnya mereka dapatkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui dokumentasi, observasi dan studi kepustakaan. Kemudian, dianalisis menggunakan teknik semiotika milik Charles Sanders Peirce. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa terdapat tanda-tanda, simbol atau pesan yang merepresentasikan feminisme di dalam video klip ‘Nightmare’ yang dihadirkan melalui adegan-adegan yang menyajikan aksi perempuan dalam menolak dominasi atas laki-laki dan kalimat-kalimat sarkas yang terkandung dalam lirik lagunya untuk ditujukan kepada patriarki. Youtube sebagai salah satu platform media sosial dimana video klip ‘Nightmare’ diunggah sangat efektif untuk melakukan komunikasi massa dan untuk menyampaikan pesan yang terkandung di dalam video klip tersebut kepada masyarakat yang menonton.

More than a century ago, one of the most famous essays ever written in American economics appeared in the Quarterly Journal of Economics: “Why is Economics Not an Evolutionary Science?” There, Thorstein Veblen claimed that economics was too dominated by a mechanistic view to address the problems of economic life. Since the world and the economy had come to be viewed from an evolutionary perspective after Charles Darwin, it was rather straightforward to argue that the increasingly abstract mathematical character of economics was non-evolutionary. However, Veblen had studied with a first-rate intellect, Charles Sanders Peirce, attending his elementary logic class. If Peirce had written about the future of economics in 1898, it would have been very different than Veblen’s essay. Peirce could have written that economics should become an evolutionary mathematical science and that much of classical and neoclassical economics could be interpreted from an evolutionary perspective.

Partindo do debate atual sobre retórica em economia, o trabalho tem por objetivo trazer elementos da corrente filosófica do pragmatismo para a discussão metodológica entre economistas, particularmente no que diz respeito à teoria da verdade e suas implicações epistemológicas. Após apresentar as contribuições dos pioneiros da filosofia pragmatista, William James, John Dewey e Charles Sanders Peirce, e discutir aspectos da obra de Willard Quine e Richard Rorty, procura identificar influências dessa corrente filosófica em importantes economistas tais como John M. Keynes, Milton Friedman e Thorstein Veblen. Por fim conclui com algumas reflexões possivelmente úteis para a prática da ciência econômica.
