We report the first record of Tomodon orestes Harvey and Muñoz, 2004 for Argentina. An adult male was collected in November 2008 in an open grassland habitat in the locality of Vallecito, Santa Victoria department, Salta province, Argentina. This new record is the southernmost locality for the species extending its distribution range ca. 95 km straight-line south from type locality.

Ayerbe’s snail-eater Sibon ayerbeorum is a nocturnal, tree-dwelling snake which was recently described based on four specimens collected in the proximity of Munchique National Natural Park, department of Cauca, Colombia, above 1000 m altitude. We here expand the distribution range of S. ayerbeorum into the department of Chocó, Colombia. The new record extends the distributional range of the Ayerbe’s snail-eater by nearly 288 km in a straight-line north-western ward from its type locality and is more than 1000 m below it.

We present herein the record of the monotypic sigmodontine Calassomys apicalis Pardiñas, Lessa, Salazar-Bravo and Câmara 2014 in the Brazilian Cerrado, based on two adult male specimens collected in a rocky outcrops area (campo rupestre) in southern portion of Espinhaço Mountain Range, in May and June 2016. This taxon was previously known only from the type locality at Parque Nacional das Sempre Vivas, Minas Gerais state, Brazil. The fecal analysis of the specimens collected in this study indicates a diversified diet with the consumption of arthropods and vegetative parts of plants in different proportions, being this the first record about the feeding habits of this species.

The genus Xenohyla is currently composed of two species, X. truncata (Izecksohn, 1959) and Xenohyla eugenioi Caramaschi, 1998. Both species are usually found inside bromeliads; X. truncata inhabits the restingas of the state of Rio de Janeiro, southeastern Brazil, and X. eugenioi transitional areas between the Atlantic Forest and the Caatinga biomes in northeastern Brazil. We report the first record of X. eugenioi in the state of Sergipe, expanding the species geographic distribution by 423.4 km in a straight line in relation to its type locality, in the municipality of Maracás, south-central state of Bahia, Brazil.

ABSTRACT Flower flies of the genus Cepa are endemic to the Neotropical region and Cepa apeca is currently known only from Costa Rica. Here we report the first record of C. apeca in Colombia based on a single female collected using a canopy trap in a dense secondary forest in a mountainous ecosystem in the locality of Vereda San Francisco, municipality of Florencia-Caquetá, at an altitude of 643 m.a.s.l. This finding constitutes the first record of the genus Cepa in Colombia and expands the geographic range of Cepa apeca by approximately 1,500 km (straight line) southwards to South America. Our finding represents the southernmost occurrence of the species and contributes to the incipient knowledge on the Diptera diversity in the Colombian Andean-Amazonian region.

A new species of the serpulid genus Metavermilia Bush, 1905 and a new record of the genus Omphalopomopsis Saint-Joseph, 1894 are described from deep-sea lava rocks collected from 2,013 m at Cross Seamount, southwest of the Hawaiiarchipelago. Metavermilia zibrowii sp. nov., differs from its congeners mostly by the presence of a simple and concaveoperculum, extent of the thoracic membrane and tube morphology. Omphalopomopsis langerhansii (Marenzeller, 1885)is the type species of the genus and it is only known through its type specimen. This species is characterized by a simpleoperculum with a shallow convex calcareous endplate, cylindrical peduncle, presence of Apomatus chaetae and high num-ber of teeth in the thoracic uncini. This is the first record of this species outside the type locality and both genera are newly recorded for the Hawaiian Islands.

We report the first record of Pristimantis crucifer from Colombia. The new record from the Reserva Natural La Planada, department of Nariño, extends the species’ range north by 63 km from the nearest locality in Ecuador and 305 km from the type locality.

Scinax tripui is a medium sized frog that belongs to the Scinax catharinae clade. We provide a new record of Scinax tripui from Serra de Torres, Espírito Santo state, southeastern Brazil. This is the first record outside the specie’s type locality (Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais) and the first record from the state of Espírito Santo.

A new genus of the julid tribe Brachyiulini, Enghophyllum gen. nov., is described, comprising two species from Greece. The type-species, E. naxium (Verhoeff, 1901) comb. nov. (ex Megaphyllum Verhoeff, 1894), appears to be rather widespread in the Aegean: it is known from Antiparos Island and Naxos Island (the type locality), both in the Cyclades, as well as East Mavri Islet, Dodecanese Archipelago (new record). The vulva of E. naxium is described for the first time. In addition, E. sifnium gen. et sp. nov. is described  based on a single adult male from Sifnos Island, Cyclades. The new genus is distinct from other genera of the Brachyiulini mainly by its peculiar gonopod structure, apparently disjunct and at least mostly apomorphous: (1) promeres broad, shield-like, in situ protruding mostly posteriad, completely covering the opisthomeres and gonopodal sinus; (2) transverse muscles and coxal apodemes of promere fully reduced; (3) opisthomere with three differentiated processes, i.e., lateral, basal posterior and apical posterior; (4) solenomere rather simple, tubular. The evolution and biogeography of the new genus are briefly discussed, both suggesting its profoundly long isolation in the Aegean region from the contribal genera in the adjacent Balkans and Anatolia.

We document the first record of Imantodes gemmi­stratus for Zacatecas state, Mexico. In August 2016, one adult male was found in a dry forest and oak forest ecotone in the Municipality of Valparaiso. This new record extends known distribution of the species 166 km to the northeast  from the nearest previous record in Nayarit state.

We provide the first record of Chiasmocleis supercilialbus for Brazil. Thre especimens were collected at Seringal Etelvi, Reserva Extrativista Chico Mendes, state of Acre, Brazil. This record extends the distribution of the species 200 km east from the type locality situated at Manu National Park, Manu River, Departamento Madre de Dios, Peru.
