Pseudosuccinea columella (Say, 1817) is a lymnaeid snail with great invasive capabilities, and has, at present, a worldwide distribution. So far, the presence of this lymnaeid snail in Argentina was restricted to a few provinces in the northeastern region, such as Misiones, Corrientes, Entre Ríos and some botanical gardens in Buenos Aires, but the recent discovery of specimens in central Argentina (Córdoba) not only represents the first record for the region, but also the southernmost confirmed record in the wild for the Neotropical region and the westernmost for the country.

The genus Homoeomma has thirteen species distributed in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Uruguay. In Argentina, two species are recorded, Homoeomma elegans in Misiones province and H. uruguayense in Buenos Aires, Entre Ríos and Santa Fe provinces. The objective of this work is to provide the first record of Homoeomma uruguayense in the mountainous system of central Argentina, belonging to western record of the genus in this country. In addition, we provide data on natural history of the species, some notes on its sexual behavior and through the species distribution modeling we discussed about the geographic distribu­tion of the species and factors that could led to this pattern.

Pteris cretica L. var. laeta is recorded for the first time in the Comechingones biogeographic province in central Argentina. This is the first record of P. cretica in central Argentina, and P. cretica var. laeta for the country. Until now Pteris cretica has only been known to occur, in America, in North America (Florida), Central America and South America in Neotropical biomes from Peru, Chile, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and northern Argentina as established in the Yungas biogeographic province, and as ruderal in Buenos Aires. An updated description is provided, along with pictures, differences with P. cretica var. cretica, and characteristic of the novel habitat of the species.

The present work extends to Argentina the distribution of Hypostomus aspilogaster originally described from Uruguay River in southern Brazil. The examined specimens were sampled in the stream Mandisoví Grande, affluent of Uruguay River in Entre Ríos province, and in Punta Lara, from Río de la Plata basin, in Buenos Aires province, Argentina. This represents the first country record for this species.

The Neotropical species of the genus Manota Williston are studied, based on material of 146 specimens from French Guiana, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Dominica and the Dominican Republic. Four new species are described, viz. M. corniculata sp. n. (French Guiana), M. pseudocavata sp. n. (French Guiana), M. truuverki sp. n. (French Guiana) and M. vladi sp. n. (Dominican Republic). Manota defecta Williston, 1896, the type species of the genus, is listed from Dominica, representing the first record since its description more than a century ago from a Southern Caribbean Island, St. Vincent. New records of 13 additional species are provided: M. acutistylus Jaschhof & Hippa, 2005 (Dominica), M. aligera Hippa, Kurina & Sääksjärvi, 2017 (French Guiana), M. digitata Hippa, Kurina & Sääksjärvi, 2017 (French Guiana), M. iota Hippa & Kurina, 2013 (French Guiana), M. micula Hippa & Kurina, 2013 (French Guiana), M. nordestina Kurina, Hippa & Amorim, 2018 (French Guiana), M. parva Jaschhof & Hippa, 2005 (Nicaragua), M. pauloides Hippa, Kurina & Sääksjärvi, 2017 (Ecuador), M. perplexa Kurina, Hippa & Amorim, 2017 (Nicaragua), M. rotundistylus Jaschhof & Hippa, 2005 (Ecuador), M. serrulata Hippa, Kurina & Sääksjärvi, 2017 (French Guiana), M. spinosa Jaschhof & Hippa, 2005 (French Guiana), M. subaristata Kurina, Hippa & Amorim, 2017 (Ecuador). The number of Neotropical Manota species has risen to 96.

Rugose wood is one of the most important disease syndromes of grapevine and it has been associated with at least three viruses: grapevine rupestris stem pitting associated virus (GRSPaV), grapevine virus A (GVA) and grapevine virus B (GVB). All three viruses show a worldwide distribution pattern, and their genetic composition has been the focus of extensive research over the past years. Despite their first record in Greece almost 20 years ago, there is a lack of knowledge on the distribution and genetic variability of their populations in Greek vineyards. In this context, we investigated the distribution of GRSPaV, GVA and GVB in rootstocks, self-rooted and grafted grapevine cultivars, originating from different geographic regions that are representing important viticultural areas of Greece. Three new RT-PCR assays were developed for the reliable detection of GRSPaV, GVA and GVB. Our results indicated that GVA is the most prevalent in Greek vineyards, followed by GRSPaV and GVB. However, virus incidence differed among self-rooted and grafted grapevine cultivars or rootstocks tested. Selected isolates from each virus were further molecularly characterized to determine their phylogenetic relationships. All three viruses exhibited high nucleotide diversity, which was depicted in the constructed phylogenetic trees. Isolates from Greece were placed in various phylogroups, reinforcing the scenario of multiple introductions of GVA, GVB and GRSPaV in Greece and highlighting the effect of different transmission modes in the evolutionary course of the three viruses.

THE musky rat-kangaroo (Hypsiprymnodon moschatus) is endemic to the tropical rainforests of north-east Queensland (Johnson and Strahan 1982). It is the smallest (510 ? 530 g) and most unusual member of the marsupial superfamily Macropodoidea (Dennis and Johnson 1995). Unlike other macropodoids, H. moschatus is frugivorous, diurnal, has an opposable first digit on the pes, a running quadrupedal gait and possesses a relatively unspecialised digestive tract (Johnson and Strahan 1982; Dennis 2002). It also differs from all other macropodoids in typically giving birth to multiple young, usually twins ? although single young and triplets are regularly reported both in the wild and in captivity (Troughton 1967; Johnson and Strahan 1982; Johnson et al. 1983; Dennis and Marsh 1997; Lloyd 2001). However, the birth of more than three young has not previously been observed in H. moschatus or any other macropodoid, even though all species possess four teats.

This study presents the first records from three genera Hypocopra, Pyxidiophora, Zopfiella and the second of the rare species, Cercophora coronata (Cailleux) Udagawa and T. Muroi, for Brazil. It also presents the first record of H. stercoraria (Sowerby) Sacc., P. arvernensis (Breton and Faurel) N. Lundq. and Z. latipes (N. Lundq.) Malloch and Cain for the Neotropical region. Specimens were obtained from dung collected in areas of the Brazilian Savannah cultured in moist chambers. Distribution data, taxonomic descriptions and new substrate records for are presented.
