In this study we explored the influence of country of origin (COO), brand image, and self-congruity on consumers' purchase intention of luxury brands via the Internet. We found that: (a) consistency in the country of origin (COO), self-congruity, and brand image had a positive impact on purchase intention; (b) inconsistency between the country of brand and the country of manufacture, and consistency in the country image increased the influence of brand image on purchase intention when the brand image was weak; (c) inconsistency in the country image decreased the influence of brand image on purchase intention when the brand image was weak; and (d) consistency in COO influenced purchase intention more strongly than did self-congruity.

Smartphone is all about its specification, the more powerful your smartphone is, more expensive it can be. Yet later, China offers a lot of variations with high specification, but also with a cheap price. Smartphone from China is often called ‘scam’ or ‘will be broken easily’, or even ‘not durable’. In this research I want to know either Country Image, Country of Origin, and Brand Image will affect the Purchase Intention or not. It’s not that clear because some people still buy the smartphone made in China.

This paper examines the nature of the Country of Origin effect by exploring suggested options to enhance positive COO associations in consumers’ minds and offsetting negative COO impact on purchase decisions. The approach taken is a literature review with a comparison of Turkey’s white goods brand Beko Plc’s international growth and marketing strategies. This paper focuses on suggested international marketing strategies in order to increase the country image of Turkey as well as the brand image of Beko Plc. In the interest of achieving a sustainable growth in foreign markets and offsetting the negative consumers’ perceptions of products made in particular countries, organizations are in need of advanced quality management practices and applicable pricing policies that respond adequately to consumer needs.

Studies on the country image topic in the services context are rare in comparison with the number of papers investigating the effect that the information on the country of origin exerts on consumer buying behavior when tangible products are concerned. To this regard, the current paper would contribute to the literature on the country-of-origin effect and consumer behavior, exploring the role played by Product Country Image (PCI) in shaping customers attitude when a service offer is concerned – namely: dining services. Specifically, this study tests a conceptual model developed in a multi-cue perspective, that is: evaluating not only the effect of the information on the origin of the service offer investigated, but also assessing consumers’ perceptions related to other service offer cues, such as service quality and perceived value, in this case. A specific national cuisine in the full-service restaurant setting is explored: the Italian one. From the methodological viewpoint, a survey was conducted among Danish customers of Italian restaurants in Copenhagen. The research method employed consisted in a structured questionnaire. Then, Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was applied to the data collected. Results evidence that product country image influences the formation of a positive attitude towards ethnic restaurants even when a multi-cue approach is employed. Scientific and managerial implications are discussed.

Abstract This study aims to examine the interaction effect of country of manufacture and brand awareness, packaging and price impact on the purchase intention of toothpaste among young adults in Malaysia. As previous studies show, the country of origin should not be taken as a single clue, as it exaggerates the country of origin effect. This study evaluates the effect of the country of origin effect on the low-involvement good (toothpaste). The Cue Utilization Theory was used to explain how the consumer uses product cues to rate a product before making a purchase decision. Study data are analysed using SmartPLS. The results of this study showed that all variables influence consumer purchase intention for toothpaste. IPMA analysis showed that the interaction effect of the country of manufacture and brand awareness are important factors.
