Abstract: Introduction: The teaching-learning process in health involves a binomial: on the one hand, teaching (the teacher and the institution) and, on the other hand, the students and their ability to adequately interact in this context. Just as teaching requires specific skills, learning also requires students to be able to master the necessary skills for learning. Feedback should also be understood in this regard. Although feedback is a frequent topic in the literature, few studies have addressed its meaning and impact from the students’ perspective. Moreover, a gap has been identified between theory and practice regarding the real power of feedback in the teaching-learning process. Objective: This study aimed to assess medical students’ understanding of feedback. Method: This is a qualitative research with a descriptive and exploratory focus, carried out using in the case study modality, with the focus group technique in data collection and thematic content analysis. The participants were medical students attending the fourth-year or eighth-semester at three schools located in the state of Goiás, Brazil. Results: The following categories emerged: understanding of feedback, frequency of received feedback, impact of feedback on the teaching-learning process and perception about the received feedback. Students understood in part the concept of feedback, not recognizing the internal feedback. A low frequency of feedback was reported and depended on the teacher, subject and year/semester of the course related to the type of curriculum. Even so, the participants recognized the points of feedback that impact on the teaching-learning process and were receptive to effective feedback. Conclusion: Even though they knew the meaning of feedback only partially and experienced it irregularly, medical students recognized the impact of this tool on the teaching-learning process. In a context of students trained to know about their own knowledge, truly empowering them in the teaching-learning process, they will develop a constant reflective practice of generating internal feedback, allowing the actual impact of feedback on the teaching-learning process to be observed in practice, as described in the literature.

Background The objectives of the present study are to report the impact of projects such as the Magic lab coat team, which employ arts, focusing on clowning, for the community and, under the perspective of training health professionals. Methods The actions were developed because of an extension action entitled Magic lab coat team having as a partner hospital, hostels, schools, and charities.  The protagonists of this action are medical students, who dress as clowns, bringing joy, humanity and various teachings to the patient and health professionals. Results The activities developed contributed to the teaching-learning process of medical students involved by providing a more humanized training and improvement of communication, expression, and empathy skills. Conclusion The presence of medical students characterized as clowns and focused not only on the clinical picture of patients, allow the well-being of patients, and reconnects them to the focus of all medical practice: the human relationship. The project offers contributions by softening the environment of various health scenarios and influencing the training of health students.

OBJECTIVE: Estimate the prevalence of common mental disorder and its associated factors among medical students of the Universidade Federal de Sergipe. METHOD: A cross-sectional study was carried out, applying Self Reporting Questionnaire-20 to 473 students from the 512 medical students enrolled in 2006 and compared with compared with a structured questionnaire by the authors containing information on the socio-demographic characteristics, the teaching-learning process and the psycho-emotional experiences of the students. Freshmen were excluded after initial comparison with the students already exposed to the medical course. Statistical analysis by multiple logistic regression after calculating simple and adjusted odds ratio (OR). RESULTS:The general prevalence of common mental disorder was 40% (n = 473); after exclusion of the freshmen it increased to 42.5% among students from the 2nd to the 12th semester. It was higher among those who did not have faith in their acquisition of the skills needed to become a good doctor (OR = 2.82), who felt less comfortable about course activities (OR = 3.75), who considered themselves emotionally stressed (OR = 2.14), among those who did not consider themselves happy (OR = 2.85), who believed that the course did not match their expectations (OR = 1.64) and those who had a prior diagnosis of mental disorder by a psychiatrist (OR = 3.78). CONCLUSION: The results suggest the necessity of changes to the teaching-learning process and the establishment of a preventive mental health program for medical students.

The lockdown situation has hampered the learning processes to a large extent across the globe. Many educational institutes promptly adapted to the situation and moved towards online learning, and many found constraints in this sudden migration. The purpose of the chapter is to identify the impact of a pandemic on the ongoing educational activities and how these activities were carried out with the help of technology-based solutions. A comparative analysis of the traditional and modern methods of teaching-learning has been carried out to check their suitability during the pandemic time. The significance of this chapter is to describe an integrative approach of continuing online teaching-learning activities throughout the lockdown time by establishing the connection between the online teaching-learning process and the traditional classroom-based methods. The challenges offered by the online environment have been outlined from the perspective of both the educational institutes and the learners.

The economic, social and political changes that have occurred in Russia over the last 10 years have had a profound effect on Russian women’s lives. Economic reform has brought poverty, insecurity and high levels of anxiety and stress to much of the population, both male and female. The impact of these changes on women was amplified in the early 1990s by their structural positioning both within the workforce and within the population, brought about by the legacies of the Soviet planned economy, Soviet attitudes to gender and long established demographic trends. Alongside these historical influences, ‘new’ essentialist attitudes towards gender and the appropriate roles and responsibilities of women in post-Soviet Russian society have been strongly promoted through the media, political and social discourses, imposing new pressures and dilemmas on many post-Soviet Russian women. Numerous women’s organisations have been established in Russia since the early 1990s, many of them with a specific remit of helping Russian women to overcome the upheavals and hardships which they face. Struggling to survive themselves with very few resources and minimal external support, Russia’s grassroots women’s organisations have nonetheless offered practical help and advice and emotional support and solidarity to their members. This paper is based on the findings of a period of intensive fieldwork carried out in 1995-6 with grassroots women’s organisations in Moscow and three Russian provincial centres. It will present the aims, activities and impact of the groups studied. It will also investigate the ways in which these groups and their membership positioned themselves in relation to the development of essentialist attitudes and opinions on gender within Russia on the one hand, and a dialogue with ‘western’ feminist theory and practice on the other.

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the development of professional skills in an obstetric nursing graduate course. Method: Qualitative research, applying semi-structured interviews with 11 students in the obstetric nursing specialization at the State University of Ceará. Data was submitted to thematic review. Results: According to the subjects, the course offers the development of skills to strengthen and expand the range of activities in obstetric nursing. Despite relying on previous knowledge and experience acquired by the students, there is a gap between the content taught and internship practice, presented as challenges and difficulties faced by the students. The findings suggest a need for curricular revision, incorporating active teaching-learning methodologies, to overcome the disjunction between theory and practice. Final considerations: Students are part of a corpus that is potentially implicated in the construction and transformation of thoughts and values set forth by educational and health institutions, and it is necessary to make changes in political and social organizations, with a focus on providing comprehensive and egalitarian care to the population.

This research aims to find out the impact of video dubbing on improving students’ speaking pronunciation. This research was applied for the tenth grade and eleventh grade of Vocational High School in Madiun city, province of East Java, Indonesia. The subject of the research consisted of 20 students, 14 female students and 6 male students. In collecting the data, researcher used observation to observe the implementation of video dubbing during teaching learning process and used test to find the improvement of students’ speaking pronunciation during the implementation of video dubbing. The research was conducted in two cycles, where each cycle consisted of 4 meetings. The research findings showed that the implementation of video dubbing could improve students’ speaking pronunciation. It can be concluded that the implementation of video dubbing in learning process has beneficial effect on students’ speaking skill, especially in pronunciation.

Abstract The integration of theory and practice in the learning process has become the foundation of architectural education. In learning a sustainable environment, direct involvement of students in the environment to increase awareness of sustainable development is fundamental. Internship is a learning process where students can develop themselves outside of lecture hours. The impact of the COVID-19 storm demanded new education methods in the learning process. The architecture study program of the Sumatra Institute of Technology (ITERA) has started an internship on a research project for the past 1 year. This paper aims to investigate the extent of students’ awareness in terms of environment sustainability while they undertake the research-based internship. While the research objectives are: to examine the attitude of students in delivering sustainable thinking; to investigate the sustainability knowledge that obtained by the students during the internship, and to acknowledge the student skills regarding environment sustainability thinking This exploratory research uses content analysis method and conduct an online survey from students involved in the internship. It is concluded that the internship through research project improve social skills, context analysis and environmental awareness, but there is a need for improvement in the delivery of lectures related to real strategies and implementation in realizing environmental sustainability.
