  In an Island of the Netherlands, Pine (Pinus nigra) was planted to stabilize the dunes and to protect the arable lands from the blowing sand. This research was conducted to understand the most important environmental factors responsible for a vegetation change in the Pine plantation and effect of this change on the rare orchid population: Goodyera repens and Listera cordata. Vegetation sampling was carried out according to the Braun-Blanquet phytosociologic method within the three sites of this Island. Twinspan analysis confirmed the definition of three site types and redundancy analysis showed a significant difference between the pure Pine stands and the plots with regeneration. The results revealed that the most significant explanatory variables were litter cover, broadleaved tree cover, and shrub cover indicating the vegetation change under the Pine plantation. The abundance of Goodyera repens is strongly associated with the Pine forest and negatively related to broadleaved cover. Listera cordata could apparently cope with vegetation change. Controlling the herbaceous layer in the Pine plantation can promote the orchid population but on the contrary, promoting the natural regeneration of broadleaved species might endanger them.

ObjectivesPsychological distress is a worldwide problem and a serious problem that needs to be addressed in the field of occupational health. This study aimed to use artificial intelligence (AI) to predict psychological distress among workers using sociodemographic, lifestyle and sleep factors, not subjective information such as mood and emotion, and to examine the performance of the AI models through a comparison with psychiatrists.DesignCross-sectional study.SettingWe conducted a survey on psychological distress and living conditions among workers. An AI model for predicting psychological distress was created and then the results were compared in terms of accuracy with predictions made by psychiatrists.ParticipantsAn AI model of the neural network and six psychiatrists.Primary outcomeThe accuracies of the AI model and psychiatrists for predicting psychological distress.MethodsIn total, data from 7251 workers were analysed to predict moderate and severe psychological distress. An AI model of the neural network was created and accuracy, sensitivity and specificity were calculated. Six psychiatrists used the same data as the AI model to predict psychological distress and conduct a comparison with the AI model.ResultsThe accuracies of the AI model and psychiatrists for predicting moderate psychological distress were 65.2% and 64.4%, respectively, showing no significant difference. The accuracies of the AI model and psychiatrists for predicting severe psychological distress were 89.9% and 85.5%, respectively, indicating that the AI model had significantly higher accuracy.ConclusionsA machine learning model was successfully developed to screen workers with depressed mood. The explanatory variables used for the predictions did not directly ask about mood. Therefore, this newly developed model appears to be able to predict psychological distress among workers easily, regardless of their subjective views.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate Library and Information Science (LIS) students’ understanding of infodemic and related terminologies and their ability to categorize COVID-19-related problematic information types using examples from social media platforms. Design/methodology/approach The participants of this study were LIS students from a public-funded university located at the south coast of Bangladesh. An online survey was conducted which, in addition to demographic and study information, asked students to identify the correct definition of infodemic and related terminologies and to categorize the COVID-related problematic social media posts based on their inherent problem characteristics. The correct answer for each definition and task question was assigned a score of “1”, whereas the wrong answer was coded as “0”. The percentages of correctness score for total and each category of definition and task-specific questions were computed. The independent sample t-test and ANOVA were run to examine the differences in total and category-specific scores between student groups. Findings The findings revealed that students’ knowledge concerning the definition of infodemic and related terminologies and the categorization of COVID-19-related problematic social media posts was poor. There was no significant difference in correctness scores between student groups in terms of gender, age and study levels. Originality/value To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first time an effort was made to understand LIS students’ recognition and classification of problematic information. The findings can assist LIS departments in revising and improving the existing information literacy curriculum for students.

Rationale: The traditional definition of “cardiovascular” lineages describes the eponymous cell types - cardiomyoctes, endothelial cells, and smooth muscle cells - that arise from a common mesodermal progenitor cell during heart development. Fibroblasts are an abundant mesenchymal population in the mammalian heart which may have multiple, discrete developmental origins. Mesp1 represents the earliest marker of cardiovascular progenitors, contributing to the majority of cardiac lineages. To date no link between Mesp1 and fibroblast generation has been reported. Objective: We hypothesized progenitor cells expressing Mesp1 can also give rise to cardiac fibroblasts during heart development. Methods and Results: We generated Mesp1cre/+;R26RmTmG reporter mice where Cre-mediated recombination results in GFP activation in all Mesp1 expressing cells and their progeny. To explore their developmental potential, we isolated GFP+ cells from E7.5 Mesp1cre/+;R26RmTmG mouse. In vitro culture and transplantation studies into SCID mouse kidney capsule as wells as chick embryos showed fibroblastic adoption. Results showed that at E9.5 Mesp1+ and Mesp1- progenitors contributed to the proepicardium organ and later at E11.5 they formed epicardium. Analysis of adult hearts demonstrated that the majority of cardiac fibroblasts are derived from Mesp1 expressing cells. Immunohistochemical analysis of heart sections demonstrated expression of fibroblast markers (including DDR2, PDGFRα and Col1) in cells derived from both Mesp1+ and Mesp1- progenitors. Additionally, we investigated whether the two distinct fibroblast populations have different potency towards reprogramming to cardiomyocytes. Results showed no significant difference between Mesp1 and non-Mesp1 isolated fibroblasts to convert to cardiomyocyte fate. Conclusions: Our data demonstrates that cardiovascular progenitors expressing Mesp1 contribute to the proepicardium. These cells, as cardiovascular progenitors, also give rise to the highest portion of cardiac fibroblasts in the mouse heart.

Introduction: The goal of this study was to evaluate the recurrence rate of instability following arthroscopic Bankart repairs in regard to the number and types of fixation utilized. A Bankart lesion is a tear in the anteroinferior capsulolabral complex within the shoulder, occurring in association with an anterior shoulder dislocation. These injuries can result in glenoid bone loss, decreased range of motion, and recurrent shoulder instability. Successful repair of these lesions has been reported in the literature with repair constructs that have three points of fixation. However, the definition of “one point of fixation” is yet to be fully elucidated. Materials and Methods: A consecutive series of arthroscopically repaired Bankart lesions were evaluated pertaining to the points of fixation required to achieve shoulder stability. This included the number, position, and types of anchors used. Patients consented to complete a series of surveys at a minimum of two years postoperatively. The primary outcome was to determine recurrent instability via the UCLA Shoulder Score, the ROWE Shoulder Instability Score, and the Oxford Shoulder Score. A secondary outcome included pain on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Results: There were 116 patients reviewed, 46 patients achieved three points of fixation in their surgical repair via two anchors and 70 patients achieved a similar fixation with three or more anchors. There was no significant difference in the mean age, gender, or body mass index (BMI). Patients receiving two anchors demonstrated recurrent instability 8.7% of the time (4 of 46 patients). Patients who received three or more anchors demonstrated recurrent instability 8.6% of the time (6 of 70 patients). Overall, there was no statistical significance between the number/types of anchors used. Between the two cohorts, there was no statistically significant difference found between VAS, ROWE, UCLA, and Oxford Scores. There was a significant difference in pain reported on the VAS scale with an average VAS score of 0.43 versus 2.5 in those without and with recurrent instability respectively. Conclusion: Contention still exists surrounding the exact definition of “a point of fixation” in arthroscopic Bankart repairs. Three-point constructs can be created through a variety of combinations including anchors and sutures, ultimately achieving the goal of a stable shoulder.

Introduction. Health - is a complex and at the same integral multivariable dynamic state, developing in the process of realization of the genetic potential in a particular social and ecological environment, which permits a person to carry out its biological and social functions. Material and methods Health indices deteriorate with age. In this situation, special attention should be paid to older age groups. However, recent studies prefer to investigate young people. Data about health status of different age groups is not well investigated. Survey of 415 women aged 20 to 59 years residing on Yaroslavl region has been performed. Evaluation of age-related changes in health indices included questionnaire, morphological and functional examination, definition of physical development and adaptative potential according to the calculated indices and reference values. Results. The study examined the dynamics of health indices and established a statistically significant difference in the gain in body weight, blood pressure, total blood cholesterol, decreased lung capacity relative to body mass and adaptive capacity of the cardiovascular system with the age. Analysis of the incidence showed that chronic diseases incidence has increased from 56% in the 20-29 years group to 88% among 50-59 years old persons. Diseases of cardiovascular and musculoskeletal system (48-49%) become predominant pathology with age. Evaluation of lifestyle shows that poor physical activity and sleep disorders were registered in 77% and 32% respectively regardless of age. Eating disorders were registered in 41% patients aged of 20-29 years. Ratio tobacco users decreased from 23% to 10% with age, while the number of cigarettes smoked per day was increased. Сonclusion. The study established the negative dynamics of health indices to be typical for women aged 20-59 years, while the rate of deterioration exceeds the average one in the Russian population. Self-preservation behavior is not predominant in all age groups, it is typical only for 3% of young women and 11-15% of other groups.

In this empirical study, it’s investigated differences of part-time working rates between men and women in the period of 2000-2012. 17 members of the EU and Turkey -as a candidate country- are participated in the study. Turkey is participated into the study too, because Turkey must adapt the most of the regulations of EU as a candidate member of the Union. The data are collected from OECD and World Bank statistics web site. Beyond that many database indicate part-time employment rates for both common and national definition of part-time working for statistical purpose. According to this it’s aimed to determine whether there is a significant difference between part-time working rates that are based on common and national definition. In the literature, there are some studies that investigate fertility rates and part-time employment rates of women. The correlation of these two variables that are belonged the years 2000-2012 is tested and the findings are indicated in the study. Furthermore, it’s analyzed the rate differences of part-time working for men and women in the period of 2000-2012.

Methane (CH4) fluxes from fixed sample plots in a minerotrophic fen and an ombrotrophic bog in southern Finland were measured by using a static chamber technique 1 year before and 2 years after a rewetting treatment. Methane emissions rose with rising water table after rewetting from 0.1 to 2.1 g ·m-2 ·a-1 at the fen site and from 0.8 to 4.6 g ·m-2 ·a-1 at the bog site but remained at a lower level than emissions from similar pristine site types. At the fen site the emissions were related to the short-term succession of cottongrass (Eriophorum vaginatum L.). Emissions showed high spatial and temporal variation with high emission peaks at the bog site. Temporal fluctuation of the emissions during the measurement season (from the end of May to the end of September) was correlated with peat temperature, while the seasonal fluxes were dependent on the moisture conditions in different microsites.

Introduction It is unclear whether the proportions of remission and the recurrence rates differ between endoscopic transsphenoidal surgery (TS) and microscopic TS in Cushing’s disease (CD); thus, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate studies of endoscopic TS and microscopic TS. Methods We conducted a comprehensive search of PubMed to identify relevant studies. Remission and recurrence were used as outcome measures following surgical treatment of CD. Results A total of 24 cohort studies involving 1670 adult patients were included in the comparison. Among these studies, 702 patients across 9 studies underwent endoscopic TS, and 968 patients across 15 studies underwent microscopic TS. Similar baseline characteristics were observed in both groups. There was no significant difference in remission between the two groups: 79.7% (95% CI: 73.1–85.0%) in the endoscopic group and 76.9% (95% CI: 71.3–81.6%) in the microscopic group (P = 0.485). It appears that patients who underwent endoscopic surgery experience recurrence less often than patients who underwent microscopic surgery, with recurrence proportions of 11.0% and 15.9%, respectively (P = 0.134). However, if follow-up time is taken into account, both groups had a recurrence rate of approximately 4% per person per year (95% CI: 3.1–5.4% and 3.6–5.1%, P = 0.651). Conclusions We found that remission proportion and recurrence rate were the same in patients who underwent endoscopic TS as in patients who underwent microscopic TS. The definition of diagnosis, remission and recurrence should always be considered in the studies assessing therapeutic efficacy in CD.

Abstract Study question Do women with recurrent miscarriage (RM) or implantation failure (RIF) have different levels of uterine Natural Killer (NK) cells compared to fertile controls? Summary answer Women with RIF but not RM are associated with significantly higher levels of CD56+ uterine NK cells compared to controls. What is known already Uterine NK cells (uNK) are different from peripheral NK cells (pNK) and are important in early pregnancy for development of the placenta. The association between uNK and RM/RIF is less clear, but dysfunction of uNK is believed to result in early pregnancy failure. Previous systematic reviews by Seshadri (2014) and Tang (2013) on infertile and RM patients showed no significant difference in uNK levels and highlighted need for further studies. Since, many prospective studies have been published and therefore warrant an updated systematic review. On the other hand, evidence for correlation between uNK and pNK is sparse and needs clarification. Study design, size, duration We have conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate three outcomes. The primary outcome was the difference of uNK level in RM/RIF compared to controls. The secondary outcome was livebirth rate in women with RM/RIF with high compared to normal uNK level, and the tertiary outcome was correlation between uNK and pNK in RM/RIF. Participants/materials, setting, methods The electronic database search included MEDLINE, EMBASE, Web of Science and bibliographies from included articles from inception to December 2020 using a combination of MESH and keywords. Search, screen, and data extraction were performed by two reviewers independently. Quality assessment was conducted with ROBINS-I and meta-analysis with Revman 5.3. Out of 4636 studies screened, 43 studies (2539 women) and 3 studies each (598 and 77 women) were analysed for primary, secondary and tertiary outcomes respectively. Main results and the role of chance Our meta-analysis showed that CD56+ uNK were significantly higher in women with RIF but not RM compared to controls (SMD 0.60; 95% CI 0.12–1.08]. Subgroup analysis in RM patients showed no significant difference whether definition of 2 or 3 previous RM was used, in primary/secondary RM compared to controls, or in primary versus secondary RM. CD56+ uNK were significantly higher in RM/RIF when sampled during mid-luteal phase [SMD 0.56; 95% CI 0.19–0.93] but not in the early pregnancy decidua. Interestingly, there was significant difference in CD56+ uNK when analysed by immunohistochemistry [SMD 0.50; CI 0.05–0.94] but not by flow cytometry, and when CD56+ uNK were reported as percentage over total endometrial cells [SMD 0.58; 95% CI 0.10–1.07]. Further subgroup analysis showed significant difference in CD16 + [SMD 0.54; 95% CI 0.18–0.89] but not in CD56+CD16-, CD56+CD16+ or CD57. For pregnancy outcome, there was no significant difference in livebirth rate in RM/RIF patients with high uNK compared to normal uNK [RR 1.06, 95% CI 0.86–1.30]. Mean uNK level in RM patients with subsequent miscarriage was not significantly higher than subsequent livebirth. Finally, the pooled correlation between CD56 pNK and CD56 uNK (r = 0.42; 95% CI –0.04–0.73] was not significant in RM/RIF patients. Limitations, reasons for caution The meta-analysis is limited by quality of some of the studies. Some data were presented in median that was transformed to mean which may result in data skew. Other confounding factors e.g. maternal age, fetal karyotype, number of previous miscarriages and variable definition of controls may contribute to bias. Wider implications of the findings: Clinical interpretation of uNK level needs to be treated with caution because there is significant heterogeneity in method of analysis. There may be a role for uNK measurement in RIF patients however further studies to understand pathophysiology underlying elevated uNK is warranted before recommending it as a diagnostic tool. The objective of this study was to assess the knowledge of the nursing professionals in a surgical center about malignant hyperthermia. This is a descriptive exploratory study on malignant hyperthermia conducted with mid- and high-level nursing professionals in the surgical center of an institution located in the city of São Paulo, where the research was conducted between August and September 2013. Analysis of the data was descriptive and the average of the correct answers was compared using Student's t-test. Among the 96 participants, the two items in which at least 70% of the team showed knowledge were: the definition of malignant hyperthermia and the professionals involved in the health care provided. With respect to all test items, 70% of nurses answered 50% correctly. The same percentage of mid-level professionals answered only 20% correctly. There was no statistically significant difference between the professional categories. This study revealed insufficient knowledge on the part of the nursing team about malignant hyperthermia.
