Magnetic susceptibility, microstructure and EPR of cobalt-containing solid solutions with layered perovskite-like structure Bi5Nb3−3xCo3xO15−δ have been studied. Solid solutions of Bi5Nb3−3xCo3xO15−δ (x60.005) can be crystallized in tetragonal syngony (sp. gr. P4/mmm), as cobalt content increases, monoclinic distortion of the unit cell emerges at 0.005 < x 6 0.04 (sp. gr. P2/m). The formation of exchange-bound aggregates of Сo(III) and Co(II) atoms predominantly with antiferromagnetic exchange types has been found in the solid solutions. EPR indirectly confirms that cobalt ions are in octahedral positions of substitution of Nb(V) ions

X-ray diffraction, electrical and magnetic measurements performed on Pb 2 Mg 1-x Co x WO 6 solid solutions with 0≤x≤1 are reported. By cobalt substitution for magnesium the diffraction patterns indicate the transition from orthorhombic structure characteristics for Pb 2 MgWO 6 to the cubic structure specific for Pb 2 CoWO 6. The Curie temperature decreases with cobalt content from 38°C to 32°C. The magnetic data indicate that the cobalt ions are in a bivalent state and, for x>0.1, experience negative magnetic interactions.

Abstract Magnetic susceptibility and EPR of iron-containing solid solutions with layered perovskite-like structure Bi2BaNb2-2xFe2xO9-δ and Bi5Nb3-3xFe3xO15-δ have been studied. The solid solutions Bi2BaNb2-2xFe2xO9-δ as well as iron oxides FeO, Fe2O3, and Fe3O4 were studied by the NEXAFS spectroscopy. The formation of exchange-bound aggregates of Fe(III) atoms with antiferroand ferromagnetic exchange types has been found in the solid solutions. In the ESR spectra of the solid solution samples, the lines with g ≈ 2.0 and g = 4.27 having a weak shoulder at g ~ 8 were attributed to Fe(III) atoms in the octahedral field with strong rhombic distortion.

9,9-dimethylfluorenyl-2-phosphonic acid 1 was reacted with manganese nitrate tetrahydrate to produce under hydrothermal conditions the crystalline manganese phosphonate Mn(H2O)2[O2(OH)PC15H13]2·2H2O which crystallize in the P21/c space group. This compound is a rare example of Mn-phosphonate material featuring isolated chains. The interactions between these chains containing the 9,9-dimethylfluorenyl moieties, result from Van der Waals interactions involving the fluorene ligands and C···H–C hydrogen bonds as revealed by Hirshfeld Surfaces. This material features antiferromagnetic exchange interactions as revealed by the magnetic susceptibility as a function of the temperature.

Solid solutions Bi2Te3-Sb2Te3 continue to be the subject of numerous and versatile experimental studies due to their practical importance for thermoelectric materials science. In this regard, the problem of studying the regularities of changes in the state of the electronic system of these semiconductors from composition and temperature remains urgent. This paper presents the results of studying the temperature dependences of the magnetic susceptibility of Bi2Te3-Sb2Te3 crystals containing 10, 25, 40, 50, 60 mol. % Sb2Te3. The correlation of the behavior of the temperature dependences of the magnetic susceptibility and electrical conductivity is analyzed.

The electronic state and character of exchange interactions of nickel and chromium atoms in solid solutions of Bi5Nb3-3xМ3xO15-δ (М-Cr,Ni) was researched by methods of magnetic susceptibility and NEXAFS-spectroscopy. NEXAFS spectra of nickel and chromium oxides were obtained. According to X-ray spectroscopy in solid solutions, chromium atoms are mainly in the charge state of Cr(III), and nickel atoms in the high-spin state of Ni(II) in octahedral coordination. In solid solutions, paramagnetic chromium and nickel atoms are present in the form of monomers and clusters with a common antiferromagnetic type of exchange

AbstractCompounds with the general formula Mg1−x AlxB2 were obtained by two-step ceramic synthesis. All compounds were characterized by X-ray diffraction, NMR spectroscopy, and by four point probe resistivity measurements in various magnetic fields method. The diborides unit cell parameters were determined as a function of the Al mole fraction. With the vaues of x up to 0.40 (where x is the composition of the stock prepared for sintering), the unit cell parameters of Mg1−x AlxB2 are similar to those of pure MgB2 and the superconducting transition temperature was lowered. For stock compositions of 0:25 ≤ x ≤ 0:60, the products contain a superstructure, also superconducting phase, which becomes the only product at x = 0:50, and at x > 0:60 this phase is replaced by AlB2-based solid solutions.
