A Non-Rigid Force Sense Presentation Method for a Finger-Mounted Type Haptic Device

Abstract This paper describes a handheld type aerial haptic device with 6 DoF (degree of freedom) using pseudo-haptics by asymmetric vibration. By introducing a original presentation force vectoring mechanism, 6 DoF force sense presentation and compactness suitable for handheld use with a small number of vibrators are realized together. In addition, a relationship between the drive input and output (presentation force sense) of the developed device is formulated, and its inverse problem solving method for obtaining the drive input that realizes a desired presentation force sense is derived. Furthermore, a user test clarified the direction in which this device can / cannot effectively exert force.

In the previous report, the operation interface for multi-axis controlled machine tools was developed by using the haptic device that is used in the field of virtual reality and it was changed from a haptic device with 3-DOF to that with 6-DOF. In order to improve the system, more useful functions should be added. In this report, the function to guide the tool in consideration of the tools characteristics is developed. The square end mill cannot cut at its bottom part. So, when the bottom part contacts the removal shape, the square end mill should be guided into a posture contacting at the side part by the force sense. The experiment supposed that the machining of the curved surface had been done. In the case of using the developed function, the number of contacts at the bottom part of the tool was decreased. As a result, the usefulness of the developed function was confirmed.

This study aims to determine the extent to which the teaching staff in the Semarang State Polytechnic Accounting Department applies a style of speech; i.e. either oratory, deliberative, consultative, relaxed, or intimate. The data collection is done by questionnaire and class observation. The population of this study consists of teaching staff at the Semarang State Polytechnic Accounting Department. The data is more qualitative, which is more in the form of a description of the characteristics of the respondents and not much related to the numbers. Sampling technique is done by population, namely all teaching staff of Semarang State Polytechnic Accounting Department. Data analysis is carried out by a Likert Scale of 5. The results indicate that Consultative Speech is the style most widely applied by the Teaching Staff of the Semarang State Polytechnic Accounting Department, while the oratoric speaking style is the least practiced style. Extemporan presentation method is the most widely applied method in the activities of the Teaching and Learning Process in the Semarang State Polytechnic Accounting Department, while the impromptu method is the least applied method. The most widely used body language is a smile, while eye flicker is the least applied body language. The distance between the Teaching Staff and Students in the Teaching and Learning Process activities that are most widely applied are groups (125-350 cm), while the least applied distance is intimate (50 cm). The results of this study support the previous research that the use of Body Language greatly affects the success of the Teaching and Learning process.
