Air inside the pericardial cavity is called “pneumopericardium”, which is a rare complication of pericardiocentesis. Pneumopericardium may resolve spontaneously or can complicate into tension pericardium, requiring urgent aspiration. We herein describe a 55-year-old man with pericardial effusion who underwent pericardiocentesis. The patient was completely asymptomatic after the procedure. Chest radiograph and computed tomography scan accidentally detected pneumopericardium, which was subsequently complicated by atrial fibrillation and necessitated pharmacological cardioversion. We found no case of asymptomatic pneumopericardium complicated by atrial fibrillation after pericardiocentesis in our literature review. Clinicians and cardiologists should do a post pericardiocentesis chest X-ray to diagnose pneumopericardium and prevent the catastrophic complications of tension pneumopericardium.

COVID-19 has rapidly emerged as a pandemic threatening lives and healthcare systems worldwide. With the emergence of the disease in Nepal, all faculties of medicine need to be well prepared toface the challenge. Fortunately, now plenty of research is available to facilitate our preparednessin the war against COVID-19. The reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction is the currentgold standard diagnostic test and chest Computed Tomography scan for screening the disease isconsidered inappropriate by most society recommendations. The Nepal Radiologists’ Associationhas proposed its guidelines which have been endorsed by the Nepal Medical Council. This articleaims to summarize the role of imaging focusing on chest X-ray and Computed Tomography scanincluding the indications, specific findings, and important differentials. Imaging needs to be donetaking necessary precautions, to minimize disease transmission, protect health care personnel, andpreserve health care system functioning.

Because a stress fracture is rare and easily missed on an x-ray, it might go undetected. If a patient presents with an activity related injury to the midfoot and x-rays are negative, a computed tomography scan can be helpful in diagnosing a cuboid stress fracture. Also, computed tomography scans graphically show the fracture location and size, in addition to tracking progressive bone changes during the healing process.
