The widespread formation of unfavorable environmental, the swiftness of modern life with large information and psycho-emotional loads and extremely natural and climatic cataclysms, as well as harmful addictions and wrong way of life of modern human, lead to the development of stress and disruption of the mechanisms of adaptation of the human body and its accelerated wear. This stimulates the development of research on the creation of new methods of integrated assessment of health and quantitative assessment of the aging processes of the body systems and the whole body, as well as the possibilities of new methods of risk assessment of climatic and environmentally related pathological and age-related diseases. The aim of the work was to consider the methodology of quantitative assessment of individual health and the rate of aging of the human body on the basis of the system index of Biological age (BA); description of its essence and structure, requirements for tests - biomarkers of aging used as the index of BA, definition of possibilities and scope of application of the BA method in modern practice of Biomedicine. The use of modern methods of scientific analysis - a systematic approach to the analysis of the processes of human aging and determine its quantitative side - the value of BA, allows a reasonable approach to the choice of the number of BM, to take into account their information content and precision, and the cost of diagnostics and availability for different users, to take into account the specific objectives of the researcher. The use of the index-partial BA allows individual approaching the choice of biomarkers and create personalized panels for the definition of BA programs for the prevention of aging in personalized preventive medicine. The complexity of the content and calculation of indices of BA requires automation and the use of methods of modern computer science and computer calculations and programs. For this purpose, we have created special computer software for diagnosing aging by calculating the BA indices with the possibility of choosing BM and automatic calculation of indicators and conclusions.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) were initially characterized as “garbage bags” with the purpose of removing unwanted material from cells. It is now becoming clear that EVs mediate intercellular communication between distant cells through a transfer of genetic material, a process important to the systemic adaptation in physiological and pathological conditions. Although speculative, it has been suggested that the majority of EVs that make it into the bloodstream would be coming from skeletal muscle, since it is one of the largest organs in the human body. Although it is well established that skeletal muscle secretes peptides (currently known as myokines) into the bloodstream, the notion that skeletal muscle releases EVs is in its infancy. Besides intercellular communication and systemic adaptation, EV release could represent the mechanism by which muscle adapts to certain stimuli. This review summarizes the current understanding of EV biology and biogenesis and current isolation methods and briefly discusses the possible role EVs have in regulating skeletal muscle mass.

The conference, Anatomy Teaching – the Cruellest Cut of All, was attended by 160 delegates representing a wide range of professions. The aim was to highlight the key issues surrounding the teaching of anatomy today and to reach a consensus on how to make teaching fit for purpose in the future. Andrew Raftery, chair of the College's anatomy steering group and the vocal champion for anatomy on the College Council, eloquently set the scene for the day. He reminded the audience that anatomy remained the basic language of medicine, which through dissection as well as illustrating biological variations and common pathological conditions also promoted teamwork, communication skills, the reality of death and a respect for the human body.

Abstract Medical science was the first to benefit from the transfer of knowledge through translation. Because of universal interest in the human body as well as the mostly Greco-Latin terminology, wealth of documentation, fewer lexicographic problems than other fields and a venerable history, medicine continues to thrive on information transfer through translation. A brief historical flashback illustrates the great pollinating role of translation in the dissemination and cross-fertilization of early medical knowledge. RÉSUMÉ La médicine a été la première science à tirer profit du transfert des connaissances par l'entremi-se de la traduction. La langue scientifique médicale étant principalement d'origine grecque et latine, le fait que la documentation médicale est abondante et universellement à la portée de tous, et que les êtres humains ont essentiellement la même anatomie partout où ils vivent, les textes de médecine présentent peut-être moins d'obstacle que d'autres au passage d'une langue et culture à une autre. L'auteur jette un bref coup d'oeil sur la longue et glorieuse histoire de la médecine, s'attardant aux jalons de cette science dans l'ancienne Grèce et Rome, et plus tard dans le monde arabe, où le savoir médical fut transféré uniquement par les traducteurs... d'Hip-pocrate et Galien à Asclépiade et Celse, et de Rome aux anciennes écoles médicales de Bagdad et de Damas, puis à celles de Tolède et de Salerne. Après la conquête de Tolède, où l'Archevêque Raymond avait établi une école de traduction, les savants occidentaux prirent contact avec la médecine arabe grâce aux traducteurs se servant du grec, du latin, de l'arabe et de l'hébreu, et après le 15e siècle, du français, de l'italien, de l'espagnol, de l'allemand et de l'anglais. C'est à l'école de Montpellier au début du 12e siècle que les savants juifs traduirent les textes médicaux arabes sous le haut patronage d'évèques catholiques. Les traductions du savant juif Faraj ben Salim des traités d'Ibn Sinâ Avicenne, dit le "Galien de l'Islam", ont achéminé les connaissances médicales de l'ancien monde au monde moderne. L'auteur en conclut que la traduction a joué un rôle prédominant dans la pollinisation, pour ne pas dire la fécondation active, de la science médicale à travers les âges.

The integral medicine is a subarea of the alternative medicine that bases its cure methods and preservation of the health on the appropriate canalization of the energy code of the human body carrying out correctives actions on the vital field of a person to regenerate it and to recompose him, bringing with it the total reestablishment of the health in the affected part. The present work consists on using certain tools of mathematics called path integrals of the quantum mechanics to code the cellular information coming from its energy nuclei (mitocondrial energy) using the quantum contributions of the integral medicine. As examples, they considered several successful clinical cases of cure under the use of these methods in integral medicine.

Background. L-arginine takes part in the ornithine cycle, in which ammonia is neutralized with urea formation. Accordingly, in the absence of L-arginine, toxic ammonia accumulates in the organism. Objective. To describe the use of L-arginine as a medication. Materials and methods. Analysis of literature sources on this topic. Results and discussion. Nitric oxide (NO) is a universal mediator in the regulation of cellular functions and intercellular communication. Deficiency of this substance is a key element of endothelial dysfunction. In the human body, NO is produced from L-arginine and performs an extremely important function of vasodilation due to the relaxation of vascular smooth muscle cells. Other physiological functions of NO include the transmission of neural signals in the central and peripheral nervous system, nervous activity, histamine secretion by mast cells, intestinal peristalsis, erection, killer action against bacteria and cancer cells. Arginine deficiency occurs in hypertension, coronary heart disease, obliterating disease of peripherl arteries, primary pulmonary hypertension, obstetric and perinatal pathological conditions. Potential ways to eliminate NO deficiency include the administration of its precursor – L-arginine (Tivortin, “Yuria-Pharm”) or its donors (molsidomine, nitrates). Tivortin has antioxidant and detoxifying effects, reduces endothelial dysfunction, activates urea synthesis, promotes glucose utilization, increases blood insulin. Conclusions. 1. NO deficiency is a key element of endothelial dysfunction. 2. Physiological functions of NO are vasodilation, transmission of neural signals, intestinal motility, etc. 3. In the human body NO is formed from L-arginine. 4. Arginine deficiency occurs in hypertension, coronary heart disease, obliterating disease of the peripheral arteries, primary pulmonary hypertension, obstetric and perinatal pathological conditions. 5. L-arginine (Tivortin) prescription is one of the ways to eliminate NO deficiency. 6. Tivortin has antioxidant and detoxifying effects, reduces endothelial dysfunction, and promotes glucose utilization.
