The structure, equipment and staff of the phoniatric centre are presented. The experience of the work from 1988 to 1993 is generalized. The quantitative characteristics of the work of polyclinic department of the centre and hospital, pointing to the significant, nearly 3 times, increase of the patients number taking phoniatric help in the dynamics are given. The combined treatment (microsurgical correction of structural elements of the larynx, phoniatric, logopedic, psychotherapeutic effect methods) allows to achieve positive results.

Based on the examinations perfomed in 80 patients with coxarthrosis complicated by contractures, it is concluded that the pain is one of the most important pathogenetic factors of the contracture formation. A combined method of the treatment of coxarthrosis is developed, including laser therapy, acupuncture and intertrochanteric osteotomy using Ilizarovs apparatus. As many as 186 patients are operated. Positive results are obtained in 92% of the cases.

В статті викладені результати експерименту по вивченню рівня формування та мінливості ознаки «маса зерна з колосу» (М1) сортів та селекційних ліній (СЛ) пшениці озимої та її генетичні кореляції з кількісними ознаками в залежності від року вирощування та строків сівби. В досліді використовували 3 строки сівби: ранній (1вересня, СП-1), оптимальний (15 вересня, СП-2), пізній (1 жовтня, СП-3). В задачу експерименту входило дослідити як формується маса зерна з колосу за строками сівби та за роками досліджень, а також визначити як формуються генетичні зв’язки оптимального строку сівби по відношенню до раннього і пізнього і коли більш виразно проявляються генетичні кореляції між кількісним ознаками. В процесі дослідження встановлено, що найвищий рівень ознаки «маса зерна з колоса» формувався в 2015 році. Визначено, що ознака «маса зерна з колоса» має пряму кореляційну залежність із такими структурними елементами як кількість зерен з колоса, маса колоса з насінням та маса рослини, і менш стійкі генетичні зв’язки з іншими кількісними ознаками як за роками досліджень, так і за строками сівби. Досліджено, що генетичні зв’язки оптимального строку сівби ознаки «маса зерна з колоса» з генеративними і вегетативними ознаками мають наближене значення до СП-1 та СП-3 і формуються з незначною різницею. The article presents the results of an experiment on the study of the level of formation and variability of the «grain weight from ear» (M1) of winter wheat varieties and breeding lines (SL) and its genetic correlations with quantitative characteristics, depending on the year of cultivation and the timing of sowing. In the experiment, 3 sowing lines were used: early (September 1, SP-1), optimal (September 15, SP-2), late (October 1, SP-3). The task of the experiment was to investigate how the mass of grain from the ear is formed by the terms of sowing and years of research, as well as determine how the genetic links of the optimal seeding period are formed in relation to the early and late, and when genetic correlations are more clearly manifested between quantitative traits. In the course of the study, it was found that the highest level of the «mass of grain from the ear» was formed in 2015. It is determined that the sign «mass of grain from the ear» has a direct correlation with the structural elements such as: the number of grains from the ear, the mass of the colon with seeds and the weight of the plant, and less stable genetic relationships with other quantitative features, as in the years of research, and on sowing terms. It was investigated that the genetic links of the optimal seeding time of the sign «grain mass from the ear» with the generative and vegetative features have an approximate value to SP-1 and SP-3 and are formed with a slight difference.

The author of the article has analyzed the existing doctrinal provisions concerning the definition of the terms “a method”, “a measure”, “a way” and “a mean” and the categories of “legal means”, “administrative and legal means”. It has been emphasized that administrative and legal means in the complex are one of the effective structural elements of the protective activity of state authorities aimed at the formation and development of social relations in various fields (including in the field of economics). The author has revealed the significance of administrative and legal means for ensuring the implementation of the security function of the state in the whole and administrative and legal protection, in particular, which became the basis for outlining the forms of administrative and legal protection in the context of its implementation through the realization of administrative and legal means. As a result, the author has offered own approach to the definition of the concept of administrative and legal means of ensuring economic security by the National Police of Ukraine. The analysis of the current administrative law and the practice of its application and, respectively, the powers of the main units of the National Police, which are entrusted with the task to ensure economic security, provided the opportunity to refer the following types of administrative and legal means of ensuring economic security by the National Police of Ukraine: 1) means of persuasion, positive incentives or incentives that contribute to raising the creative activity of legal relations participants, based on their quest for positive results of their work, to the realization of social and personal interests; 2) measures of administrative coercion, which are used for the purpose of prevention, termination of offenses, ensuring proceedings in cases on administrative offenses and bringing offenders to administrative liability. The application of administrative coercion is one of the important factors in strengthening the rule of law, discipline and organization in the field of economics, protection of the management order established in this area. The conducted research should become the basis for studying the problems of certain administrative and legal means of ensuring economic security by the National Police of Ukraine, which is a perspective direction for further scientific research.

Adhesion to enamel has become a routine technique in restorative dentistry. Adhesion to dentin, however, is still under investigation. Except structural elements of the dentin, smear layer has been one of the reasons that the interaction between the adhesive system and this tissue is difficult. The smear layer tissue created by cutting a tooth. It varies in thickness, roughness, density and degree of attachment andoccludes tubules and reduces the dental permeabilita. Dentin adhesivesystems can react with intertubular and peritubular dentin only when this smear layer is removed or when the adhesive system is capable of diffusion through layer of debris. As part of restorative procedures required by adhesive dentistry, the smear layer must be removed, modified or impregnated by the resin to allow for bonding between the tooth and the restorative material. For remove and dissolve of smear layer acid conditioners on total etch and self-etching primers were used. Self-etching primer systems are undergoing rapid evolution; their results are not yet sufficiently predictable overall, but some systems have achieved positive results in both enamel and dentin bonding. Further studies are necessary to confirm the long-term efficiency of these self-etching primers.

HREM studies of the carbonaceous material deposited on the cathode of a Huffman-Krätschmer arc reactor have shown a rich variety of multiple-walled nano-clusters of different shapes and forms. The preparation of the samples, as well as the variety of cluster shapes, including triangular, rhombohedral and pentagonal projections, are described elsewhere.The close registry imposed on the nanotubes, focuses attention on the cluster growth mechanism. The strict parallelism in the graphitic separation of the tube walls is maintained through changes of form and size, often leading to 180° turns, and accommodating neighboring clusters and defects. Iijima et. al. have proposed a growth scheme in terms of pentagonal and heptagonal defects and their combinations in a hexagonal graphitic matrix, the first bending the surface inward, and the second outward. We report here HREM observations that support Iijima’s suggestions, and add some new features that refine the interpretation of the growth mechanism. The structural elements of our observations are briefly summarized in the following four micrographs, taken in a Hitachi H-8100 TEM operating at an accelerating voltage of 200 kV and with a point-to-point resolution of 0.20 nm.

The tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs) are endogenous inhibitors of the matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), enzymes that play central roles in the degradation of extracellular matrix components. The balance between MMPs and TIMPs is important in the maintenance of tissues, and its disruption affects tissue homoeostasis. Four related TIMPs (TIMP-1 to TIMP-4) can each form a complex with MMPs in a 1:1 stoichiometry with high affinity, but their inhibitory activities towards different MMPs are not particularly selective. The three-dimensional structures of TIMP-MMP complexes reveal that TIMPs have an extended ridge structure that slots into the active site of MMPs. Mutation of three separate residues in the ridge, at positions 2, 4 and 68 in the amino acid sequence of the N-terminal inhibitory domain of TIMP-1 (N-TIMP-1), separately and in combination has produced N-TIMP-1 variants with higher binding affinity and specificity for individual MMPs. TIMP-3 is unique in that it inhibits not only MMPs, but also several ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase) and ADAMTS (ADAM with thrombospondin motifs) metalloproteinases. Inhibition of the latter groups of metalloproteinases, as exemplified with ADAMTS-4 (aggrecanase 1), requires additional structural elements in TIMP-3 that have not yet been identified. Knowledge of the structural basis of the inhibitory action of TIMPs will facilitate the design of selective TIMP variants for investigating the biological roles of specific MMPs and for developing therapeutic interventions for MMP-associated diseases.

Abstract. Background: Endovascular treatment is an alternative first-line management for peripheral artery disease (PAD). Hybrid treatment (HT) is defined as a combined treatment for patients with PAD using endovascular and open surgery, simultaneously performed in an operating room. The results of HT are reportedly good for multilevel revascularization (MR) in patients with chronic limb ischaemia, and even in older high-risk patients. The goal of this study was to examine the clinical and haemodynamic outcomes of HT in patients who need MR. Patients and methods: Nine university hospitals in Korea participated in this multicentre study. A total of 134 patients with multilevel PAD underwent HT and MR. Patients were enrolled from July 2014 to June 2015 and were followed for 18 months. Results: The mean age of the patients was 68.8 ± 9.93 years and 88.1 % were men. Patients with Rutherford category 2 to 3 and 4 to 6 comprised 59.0 % and 42.0 % of the group, respectively. The technical success rate was 100 %. The primary patency rates at 12 and 18 months were 77.6 % and 63.9 %, respectively. The primary-assisted patency rates at 12 and 18 months were both 90.0 %. The pre-operative mean ankle brachial index (0.43 ± 0.23) increased to 0.87 ± 0.23 at six months post-operatively (t-test, p < 0.05). The amputation free survival rate was 97.1 %. Conclusions: Although outcomes of multilevel PAD are reportedly poor when endovascular treatment alone is used, we have shown that HT is a feasible alternative modality for patients with multilevel PAD, with satisfactory amputation-free survival and freedom from re-intervention rates.

This article presents a case of a 14-year-old female twin with schizophrenia who developed severe catatonia following treatment with olanzapine. Under a combined treatment with amantadine, electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), and (currently) ziprasidone alone she improved markedly. Severity and course of catatonia including treatment response were evaluated with the Bush-Francis Catatonia Rating Scale (BFCRS). This case report emphasizes the benefit of ECT in the treatment of catatonic symptoms in an adolescent patient with schizophrenic illness.
