Abstract In this work, we studied the interphase distribution of a number of polybasic carboxylic acids, in particular, malic, succinic, glutaric, citric, ascorbic and tartaric in two-phase aqueous systems polyethylene glycol-1500 (PEG-1500) - sodium sulfate - water and PEG-1500 - ammonium sulfate - water. Using the spectrophotometric method of analysis, quantitative characteristics (interfacial distribution and degree of recovery) of the extraction of carboxylic acids were determined. In conclusion, it was found that the considered two-phase aqueous systems are promising in the process of extraction of polybasic carboxylic acids. In particular, the system polyethylene glycol 1500 - sodium sulfate - water has effective extraction properties for succinic malic and ascorbic acids. On the other hand, depending on the composition of the extraction systems, the quantitative characteristics for citric, glutaric and tartaric acids practically do not differ.

Abstract Research conducted in June and September 2020 showed that the species composition of rotifers and lower crustaceans in 17 water courses of the Upper Amur Basin, exposed to the effects of placer gold mining, included 43 species. Most of the water courses were researched for the first time. Based on the environmental and geographic assessment, the prevalent species were widespread and eurytopic. Most parts of the rivers were characterised by low quantitative characteristics (0.01–3.77 × 103 ind. m-3 and 0.06–54.64 mg m-3), which was explained by the hygrological conditions and long-term effects of mining in the river beds. A better productivity (up to 39 × 103 ind. m-3 and 228 mg m-3) was registered in the areas of former excavations in the river beds, with slower water exchange and better conditions for the development of zooplankton.

Humor is applied in pedagogy to create a positive learning environment. Recent research focuses on the theories, effects, individual differences, and qualitative aspects of humor for instruction. However, there is a lack of studies focusing on quantitative features. Therefore, this research explored the quantitative characteristics of instructional humor in a naturalistic setting and applied techniques from natural language processing (NLP). This paper describes the results of two studies. The first study focused on instructional humor frequency and the placement of humor, while the linguistic features of instructional humor and non-instructional humor were compared in the second study. Two corpora were used in this research: TED Talks and user-submitted jokes from “stupidstuff.org” The results found that educators used humor 12.92 times for popular talks, while less popular talks only had 3.92 times. Humor is also more commonly placed during the first parts of the talk and lessens toward the end. There were also significant differences between the linguistic features of instructional and non-instructional humor in terms of readability scores and sentiment. These results provide a substantial update on quantitative instructional humor research and help educators understand how to use humor in the classroom in terms of quantitative and linguistic features.

Muscovy duck development can be influenced by reproductive performance, including mating behavior. The purpose of the study was to obtain the quantitative characteristics of the Ciayumajakuning Muscovy duck mating and to obtain the best antog in its mating characteristics. The research method was carried out experimentally using a completely randomized design with 4 treatments and 5 replications. The parameters observed were mating frequency, mating duration, mating time, and mating location. The results showed that the quantitative characteristics of the antog Kuningan showed a significant difference in the frequency of mating with the drake and duck and the duration of mating was higher than that of the Cirebon, Indramayu, and Majalengka Muscovy duck. This is supported by data on the frequency of mating with 7.4 drake and duck 2 times/day, and the mating duration is 119.4 seconds. The mating time of the Cirebon, Indramayu, Majalengka, and Kuningan Muscovy duck did not show a significant difference, namely more in the first and second quarters at 06.01-12.00 WIB and 12.01-16.00 WIB. The mating location is in zone 1 in the area near the place of feed and drinking water. In conclusion, Muscovy duck Kuningan has the best marital characteristics.

The description of the original phantom design for assessing the quantitative characteristics of PET images in the study of dynamic objects is given. The phantom movement is controlled by the breath synchronization system, which records the phantom movement amplitude and the duration of the movement cycle. A curve was obtained that simulates human breathing, the parameters of which (amplitude and period) correspond to those obtained in the study of the chest. The values of the ecovery coefficients and contrast are obtained taking into account the sizes of the spheres, as well as the static and dynamic types of movement of phantoms. An assessment of the discrepancy between the recovery coefficients and the contrast values for the spheres installed inside the phantom in the static and dynamic states has been made. With a decrease in the diameter (respectively, and volume) of the sphere, an increase in the difference in values (between the static and dynamic positions of the phantom) of the recovery coefficient is observed. The optimal values of the recovery coefficients obtained using the QClear reconstruction algorithm have been determined. Recommendations for the use of the developed device in the study of dynamic objects are described. It is advisable to use the installation presented in this work to control the quality of the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of diagnostic images obtained both on PET/CT scanners and during studies using SPECT/CT (single-photon emission tomograph combined with a computed tomograph).

The temporomandibular joint is paired, a complex formation of an ellipsoid shape, which is formed by the articular head of the lower jaw, the mandibular fossa and the articular tubercle of the temporal bone, covered with fibrous cartilage. There are two types of movements in the temporomandibular joint: translation and rotation, which implement protrusion-retrusion, right and left mediotrusion, and opening-closing. Computerized axiography is used for assessment of the mandibular movements and the patient’s skeletal parameters. This type of examination allows you to adjust the articulator for an individual function and to study the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of the temporomandibular joint.

Background. Significant part of hydrocarbons at Bovanenkovskoye and Kharasaveyskoye fields are contained in Podneytinskiy reservoir, and study of geological features of its productive strata is important for development planning for the fields in a whole. Aim. The paper reflects the results of integrating well and seismic data to characterize the formations of Podneytinskiy reservoir at Bovanenkovskoye and Kharasaveyskoye fields. Materials and methods. As part of the study, sedimentological description of core was analyzed, the core, well logging and seismic survey information were assessed, and the facies schemes were prepared. Results. As a result of the work, the reservoir architecture features and the distribution of reservoir properties of the target interval were revealed. It has been established that the considered formations of Podneytinskiy reservoir can be divided into two parts, the lower one is represented by deposits of predominantly deltaic origin, and the upper one is of continental and subcontinental genesis. The sedimentary conditions of rocks influenced the complexity of their architecture, so, in the formations referred to the lower part of the studied interval, the reservoirs, as a rule, are laterally continuous, in contrast to the deposits of the upper part of the section, which are typically characterized by extremely high lateral heterogeneity. Depositional conditions also influenced the reservoir properties of productive sediments. As a result of the work, it was revealed that the reservoirs of better quality are formed in fluvial and tidal channels, distributary channels and proximal parts of deltas, they have higher reservoir properties, are characterized by thicker sandstone interlayers and lower portion of carbonated interlayers in comparison with reservoirs formed in other conditions. Conclusions. The article provides quantitative characteristics of reservoir properties depending on sedimentary conditions. The results obtained form the basis for creation of geological models of Bovanenkovskoye and Kharasaveyskoye fields.

The aim of the research was to study the nature of variability of the main quantitative traits in hybrid populations of the second generation Phaseolus vulgaris L. within the framework of the task 13.00.01.28. F “To study the nature of the inheritance of quantitative traits in hybrids of create a starting material with improved flavoring properties. As a result of the studies carried out, it was found that regardless of the duration of the growing season of the parent components of the crossing, in the hybrid populations of the second generation, the limits of variability for this indicator went beyond the limits of the variability of the parent forms. The average values of the duration of the growing season in hybrids were intermediate between the indicators of the corresponding parent forms. The coefficients of variation in the parent forms were insignificant (1.1 – 1.4%); in hybrid populations they were low – from 4.9% (Line 744-14 / Ukrainka) to 9.2% (Line 741-14 / Suita). In terms of plant height, the limits of variability of hybrid offspring F2 went beyond the limits of variability of the parent components. The average values of the trait in hybrid populations significantly exceeded the corresponding indicators of the parent forms. The degree of variability in plant height of hybrid populations was significant in the combination Line 872-14 / Podolyanka-1 (the parent components differ in the type of plant growth) and was equal to 20.6% versus 3.5% and 4.9% for the corresponding parent forms. In other hybrid populations, the coefficient of variation was average (Ukrainka / Suita-16.5%; Line 741-14 / Suita – 13.5%; Line 744-14 / Ukrainka -10.1%) The degree of variability of the corresponding parental forms was in the range from 2.8% to 3.1%.The widest range of variability was observed according to the characteristics of the mass of seeds from the plant, the number of seeds from the plant, the number of beans from the plant. The degree of variability of the seed mass from the plant in hybrid populations ranged from 30.3% to 39.1% (in the parent forms from 9.1% to 21.7%); the number of seeds from the plant from 22.3% to 40.7% (in the parent forms from 9.8% to 20.1%); the number of beans from the plant from 28.1% to 38.3% (in the parent forms from 4.7% to 16.2%). The degree of variation of the studied traits in hybrid populations was 2–3 times higher than in the parent forms.By the weight of 100 seeds in the offspring of the second generation, the range of variation was much wider than this indicator in the parent forms. The degree of variability on this trait was average for hybrid populations (from 10.6% to 13.4%), and insignificant for parental forms (from 3.7% to 6.6%).It is possible that the most valuable in terms of breeding may be the hybrid combination Line 872-14/Podolyanka, from the widest range of variability in the studied traits in the second generation population.

Background and Objectives: preoperative differentiation of enlarged parathyroid glands may be challenging in conventional B-mode ultrasound. The aim of our study was to analyse qualitative and quantitative characteristics of parathyroid gland lesions, using multiparametric ultrasound protocol—B-mode, Colour Doppler (CD), and contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS)—and to evaluate correlation with morphology in patients with hyperparathyroidism (HPT). Materials and Methods: consecutive 75 patients with 88 parathyroid lesions and biochemically confirmed HPT prior to parathyroidectomy were enrolled in the prospective study. B-mode ultrasound, CD, and CEUS were performed with the subsequent qualitative and quantitative evaluation of acquired data. We used 1 mL or 2 mL of intravenous ultrasound contrast agent during the CEUS examination. Correlation with post-surgical morphology was evaluated. Results: seventy parathyroid adenomas were hypoechoic and well contoured with increased central echogenicity (44.3%), peripheral-central vascularization (47%), and polar feeding vessel (100%). Twelve hyperplasias presented with similar ultrasound appearance and were smaller in volume (p = 0.036). Hyperplasias had a tendency for homogenous, marked intense enhancement vs. peripherally enhanced adenomas with central wash-out in CEUS after quantitative analysis. No significant difference was observed in contrasting dynamics, regardless of contrast media volume use (1 mL vs. 2 mL). We achieved 90.9% sensitivity and 72.7% specificity, 93% positive predictive value (PPV), 87.3% negative predictive value (NPV), and 87.3% accuracy in the differentiation of parathyroid lesions prior to post-processing. In a quantitative lesion analysis, our sensitivity increased up to 98%, specificity 80%, PPV 98%, and NPV 80% with an accuracy of 96.4%. Conclusions: CEUS of parathyroid lesions shows potential in the differentiation of adenoma from hyperplasia, regardless of the amount of contrast media injected. The quantitative analysis improved the sensitivity and specificity of differentiation between parathyroid lesions. Hyperplasia was characterized by homogeneous enhancement, fast uptake, and homogeneous wash-out appearance; adenoma—by peripheral uptake, central wash-out, and reduced hemodynamics. The use of CEUS quantification methods are advised to improve the ultrasound diagnostic role in suspected parathyroid lesions.
