To solve the problem that large torque drilling rig requires high performance of the chuck, this paper introduces the composition and working principle of a normally open hydraulic chuck, as well as the design and calculation method of its bearing capacity and clamping force. Through the use of creo2.0/simulate finite element analysis module, finite element analysis is made on the main structure parts of the chuck. The results show that the parameter selection and structure design of the chuck mechanism meet the requirements of use, which provides a guarantee for improving the reliability of the chuck mechanism and the overall performance of the drilling rig.

To obtain the stable output voltage, a new type of MWD hybrid excitation generator is designed in which magnetic flux can be regulated from -2% to 22%. In the generator, hybrid excitation part and permanent magnet part work in parallel. This article introduces the working principle and structure of this generator. In addition, finite element analysis, magnetic field and regulation characteristics analysis for this generator is addressed to illustrate the variation of magnetic flux with pole length and excitation current changing. Experiments verify the design and finite element analyses.

Drill tower is the support structure to ensure normal work for drilling, and the structural characteristic has been played a vital role in the stability of drilling rig. In the paper, the 3-D modeling of the drill tower has been established by the software UG and the finite element analysis of the structure has been finished by software ANSYS that it provides a new design method and thought for the new type of electro-hydraulic controlling core drill tower. According to the analysis result, the practicability for the structure is discussed, and furthermore, this study can provide reliable and efficient technical reference for future design of drill tower products.

According to the situation that the dual-friction drums on the new type towing machine lack stress analysis when designed, the safety is difficult to test and verify. The pull of wire rope in various positions was derived and calculated, so both compressive stress and tangent friction force generated by the pull of wire rope were calculated. The result made by ANSYS software demonstrates the safety of the left drum which suffers from larger loads, structure improvement measures are put forward for the drum.

The ultimate compressive strengths of high performance steel (HPS) plate system stiffened longitudinally by closed stiffeners have been investigated by the nonlinear finite element analysis. Both conventional and high performance steels were considered in models following multi-linear strain hardening constitutive relationships. Initial geometric imperfections and residual stresses were also incorporated in the analysis. Numerical results have been compared to compressive strengths from Eurocode 3 EN 1993-1-5 and FHWA-TS-80-205. It has been found that although use of Eurocode 3 EN 1993-1-5 and FHWA-TS-80-205 may lead to highly conservative design strengths when very large column slenderness parameters are encountered

MFPSE, Micro Free Piston Swing Engine, is a new type of miniature internal combustion engine based on the working principle of two-stroke swing engine. The successful development and operation of this type of miniature internal combustion engine provide important significance for the miniaturization of the internal combustion engine, and provide a number of important research theory, computation method and experimental data. In this article, according to the work characteristics and co-ordination requirements of MFPSE (Micro Free Piston Swing Engine), whose strain interference is analyzed using finite element analysis software, the problems and interference of the center pendulum and cylinder is found evidently. The data of analysis provides theory basis for the MFPSE’s structural optimization, and is critical to improve the performance of MFPSE.
